  • The long version!?....That is great!

Been a fan of Vince's pickin and singing ever since he was a "hippie", pickin bluegrass mandolin and guitar, and Pure Prairie League.

    Thanks for the video!!

  • Hey there 59catmando.......I've listened to "Oklahoma Rising" and it's a great song. Thanks for the tip ! And I intend on making a visit to Oklahoma, because I've always been a big fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, but there sure seems to be a lot of talented musicians in the state, and that attracts me a lot more than football does. Are you an Okie, 59catmando ? Maybe we could meet sometime and you could give me some more Oklahoma tips.

  • Really a brillant guitar player, a amazing solo, is like a country guitar master class in one song.

  • Brilliant !

  • Great song and great chops by Vince! When I first heard this on LBR that night it blew me away! Vince is definitely in my opinion the best singer in country music! Thanks Les...

  • lets do something, this cannot have only 13,000 views...Come on VINCE!

  • 3.21 fine pedal steel style lick.

  • The drummer is really good too......wow, is he ever doing a god job......everybody on the stage is very talented......maybe they're all from Oklahoma. Talk about inspiration.

  • @intensestrat Oklahoma is a really nice state, very nice people and a lot of history. You would like his song Oklahoma rising, its very inspirational also. Have a great day

  • The solo blows me away........awesome......there have been and still are lots of great guitarists from Oklahoma. Vince Gill is one of them ! Can he ever pick it out !

  • Excellent solo! Joe Bonamassa calls Vince Gill a "guitar hero" on the same level as BB King and Eric Clapton, just in a different genre. I agree.

  • THANKS!

  • Holy sh**!

  • Oooooooweeeeeebaby! What a hot solo... and smooth! Bravo!

  • Man, that solo is awesome! Vince is such a talent. I wish I had persued that style as I was learning guitar. I play classic rock but can really appreciate the talent it takes to play this style. I guess it's never too late to learn!

  • Top that guitar solo...yeah...I didn't think so.

  • the line at 4:00 slays me every time.

  • So who is Chester, that taught him play like that?!!!!

  • @stevesewall Chet Atkins!

  • @stevesewall Chat Atkins

  • Duh....Da...uh...dah..george!!...fu...moth...

  • It doesnt get much better than Vince playing like this !

  • "I'm gonna try to pick it just like you taught me, Chester!" - Imagine being able to say that.

  • I remember seeing this episode-Chet Atkins is the one who called in wth this request!

  • @toolguy46 Thanks, now I know, I been hearing this song for years and I always wondered, what a tribute.

  • without a doubt Vince is one of the greatest gutair players in country music he never looks like he breaks a sweat and makes it looks so easy Vince is truly the best

  • I got to see him play this song live in 1991. It's an experience I will never forget.

  • The best 2-1/2 minutes of my day today was watching and listening to that solo.

  • A lot of guys & gals can play a jillion notes in a nanosecond but not many with such taste and musicality. He's a picker but a musician, too. He's also a tremendous golfer. What a life!

  • I'd love to get his tone....I've searched for years now, tried different compression pedals, but still haven't been able to achieve it with my tele.

  • @Jeep8706 You will find the setting for vince gill on the following, not perfect, but as close as I can get on a line 6 amp. Diff amps will be slightly different settings but not alot of differenct. Treb at 8, mid between 6 and 7 and yank your bass as far as it will go. Little bit of delay, mid comp and lay off the reverb, let the guitar do the work. Vince gill uses little or no reverb. Start with those settings and tweek it till you are happy. you'll have to play with a track and tweek away.

  • What a ridiculously underrated guitar player! That solo is unbelievable!

  • @drkdglr13 I have been playing for years, my jaw drops every time I watch this solo!
