@skynet001 By The Throat was about addiction and existentialism and it had a lot of depressing elements about it. Even in this freestyle, a line caught my ear. "I don't know what to do about him, I can't give him advice. 'Cause I don't really have shit to tell anybody about life. 'Cause if they looked at me and followed my device, they'd be stuck in my same crisis, grasping onto light." It's sad, this music is so good, but you were basically listening to a suicide note.
@ArtIsGood4TheSoul Yeah "by the throat" was in my opinion his most complete work. He took the rock n' roll lessons from carbon carousel and mixed with the dope hip hop he was used to be doing with abilities. Perfect really. I doubt mikey's death was accidental; a guy with his kind of mind doesn't have "accidents" like that but who knows..
@kaoruSG I don't know. The cause of death was opiate toxicity which almost guarantees heroin or strong prescription opiates like hydrocodone or oxycodone. The change in style from E&A to By The Throat was very drastic and after his death, it's pretty easy to assume that was because of drug addiction. He said Skydiver was written about addiction. But suicide could have been a possibility, but the autopsy also said he died in his sleep.
@ArtIsGood4TheSoul Michael Larson always had trouble sleeping, he didn't have a prescription but he took opiates sometimes to sleep. The night of his death he was drunk and passed out face first on his bed from intoxication and exhaustion. It is most likely that he suffocated or choked in his sleep and couldn't cough himself awake because of the medication.
Holy shit this is raw. I honestly feel so shitty about sleeping on Mikey with his new projects with Carousel, and other projects after E&A Day. This guy practically raised me. He got better and better. I can't believe he freestyles this shit.
eyedea was one of the most under rated rappers ever also his freestyle skill is in the top 5 all time you can listen to 100 freestyles and you will not hear a line thats the same true great.RIP EYEDEA THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHYER LIKE YOU
I'll admit i never listened to any of his shit or even liked him before he died, but its only now after i finally listened to the words in his songs that I realize he was an incredible artist I wish I would have seen or met him when he was still alive
@BitchesUnlimited Sadly a lot of people didn't recognize the talent Mikey held before he died, but none the less I'm glad you woke up and realized what an incredible artist eyedea was.
please... people were doing this shit before he was born.. i mean for real dude.. he had a beautiful mind. But if you understand anything about life.. you would find some dude who has the same beauty just without a music deal..
RIP eyedea. a legend before he was gone

@ArtIsGood4TheSoul in by the throat the writing is so open ended that it can really be about what ever you need it to be
