I'm just in awe of this video. I'm, uh, rather critical of America's foreign policy over the past 60 years and too familiar with the ugly reality behind this presentation. And this video still makes me want to go put on a uniform and fight for my country. It's the most terrifyingly effective propaganda piece I've ever experienced, and beyond that, I watch it again from time to time because if I can't be proud of far too much of what America has done, it at least makes me proud of our *ideals*.
Well I'm not in the National Guard or the Army, but I'm planning on going into the Coast Guard in a few months. It might not be quite like the other military branches, but I think it's still helpful here in the United States. They really only get thanks when they save the life of someone else, but they're still needed! It will be great doing something that helps others and can save peoples lives.
The Coast Guard is listed as part of the United States Millitary, it doesnt matter what branch you are in, you are still serving this great country, Thank You.

My cousin is in the military, Sergent, and i think he is the bravest person i will ever know. Has been to Afghanistan and Iraq i don't know how many times. Makes me so mad knowing he has latterly come inches from death to many times for our freedom, yet groups back home go to his fellow soldiers funerals to protest. You might not like the war but back the soldiers who are fighting in it!
@NightAngelus I agree, I think this is one of the dumbest wars the US ever got involved in (including Vietnam) but I still respect and thank each soldier and vet from every war for their service, why because of everything they saw, heard, and to show them someone cares about them after the war is over, and to show respect. If you want to protest a war go to DC not a fallen soldier's funeral.

my uncle was in the Navy. so was one of my grandparents. my girlfriends uncle is active duty in the Air Force. I'm very good friends with a very large number of people in uniform. Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force. every one of those people are ready and willing to die for people like you. people who don't have the courtesy or respect to salute when they see a uniform. It is after all the U.S. military that gives us the freedom. Without it we wouldn't anything, no job, no home, no girl, no life. Both my grandfathers were in the Army during WW2 and Korea and my father was a Marine in Viet Nam. @the5thCount Those people may have unfortunately died, but the 300 mil + Americans seemed to have carried on, and it's not because of the military, who's war has killed more innocents on both sides than the towers themselves. In Natural Law, the right to life is separate from freedom. If you shoot someone, yes, you're stealing their life which takes their freedom. This does nothing to do with civil society as a whole, which is why there is a difference between civil society and natural law.
Excuse me, but I believe that ideologically we completely agree. I am a strong believer in natural law which endows us with inalienable Rights, among which are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That aside though, when an enemy force attacks and kills our civillians, it is our duty as soldiers to bring those who are responsible to justice, i.e. Osama Bin Laden.

I'm just in awe of this video. I'm, uh, rather critical of America's foreign policy over the past 60 years and too familiar with the ugly reality behind this presentation. And this video still makes me want to go put on a uniform and fight for my country. It's the most terrifyingly effective propaganda piece I've ever experienced, and beyond that, I watch it again from time to time because if I can't be proud of far too much of what America has done, it at least makes me proud of our *ideals*.

Well I'm not in the National Guard or the Army, but I'm planning on going into the Coast Guard in a few months. It might not be quite like the other military branches, but I think it's still helpful here in the United States. They really only get thanks when they save the life of someone else, but they're still needed! It will be great doing something that helps others and can save peoples lives.

My cousin is in the military, Sergent, and i think he is the bravest person i will ever know. Has been to Afghanistan and Iraq i don't know how many times. Makes me so mad knowing he has latterly come inches from death to many times for our freedom, yet groups back home go to his fellow soldiers funerals to protest. You might not like the war but back the soldiers who are fighting in it!

@NightAngelus I agree, I think this is one of the dumbest wars the US ever got involved in (including Vietnam) but I still respect and thank each soldier and vet from every war for their service, why because of everything they saw, heard, and to show them someone cares about them after the war is over, and to show respect. If you want to protest a war go to DC not a fallen soldier's funeral.

Taking oil? Wow... we're still on that are we? I've been deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan as an infantryman.. I'll simply say two things. 1. How high are your gas prices right now? and 2. I wish we were there simply for oil. I can think of no resource in this world more worth fighting for. ... Sorry for the outburst. I just... I found it offensive. I can easily understand why most women aren't fit to be soldiers. However, never forget the few who've got what it takes, alright? And yes, I'm aware of some of the hell soldiers have to go through, and how hard even the training is (which it needs to be to prepare them properly, though it's sometimes not enough). I can't imagine the worst of it, but I doubt it's pretty. I don't understand much, but I still understand.

Actually, I don't consider myself much of a leader or a follower, perhaps a supporter or tech guy more likely.

@jbjashberry i agree with you 10,000 percent and respect and am grateful for the service of the troops.. that is what makes it a complete shame that they are being used for illegitimate reasons. I would never say anything is wrong with the troops.. i love our troops just like i love our Constitution.. HOWEVER.. It is after all the U.S. military that gives us the freedom. Without it we wouldn't anything, no job, no home, no girl, no life. If you look at the big picture the Military is what makes a country strong and gives life to the country by telling everyone else back off, we got bigger and more guns than you. But if people would not volunteer we would never have a country. So thank the Military for all the freedom you enjoy.

@Michaeltanase i understand how you could think that. and dont get me wrong, every man and woman in our armed forces are of the highest valor, honor, and deserve our thanks and respect. but the establishment of a standing army does not give us freedom. the constitution only allows for a standing navy (and state militias) during peace. and Rights like liberty and life are inherent in the human condition.

Both my grandfathers were in the Army during WW2 and Korea and my father was a Marine in Viet Nam. I have a deep level of respect for their service and for the service of all our Citizen Soldiers that have served since the very beginning of this great nation. 3 Doors Down did a great job with this song. Never before in the history of the world has there been the kind of freedom that is here in America, and if it fails here the world won't see it again for decades. The day war is no longer neccasary will be the day the world is perfect, and it grieves me to know this day won't be coming anytime soon- especialy should America fall. These brave men and women are out there every day in "the ugly" defending true beauty.

@the5thCount Whilst I do not belong in the category you described, it's more foolish to assume that an attack such as 9/11, done by a weak group of terrorists who didn't even have their own means of transportation to the US (they had to use our planes) would shake the entire core value of freedom in America. That's what I'd like explained. "Ok, we're stealing your freedom now. Please take it and put it in this bag!" Is that how things would have went? Freedom is not an object.

@the5thCount Those people may have unfortunately died, but the 300 mil + Americans seemed to have carried on, and it's not because of the military, who's war has killed more innocents on both sides than the towers themselves. In Natural Law, the right to life is separate from freedom. If you shoot someone, yes, you're stealing their life which takes their freedom. This does nothing to do with civil society as a whole, which is why there is a difference between civil society and natural law.

Excuse me, but I believe that ideologically we completely agree. I am a strong believer in natural law which endows us with inalienable Rights, among which are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That aside though, when an enemy force attacks and kills our civillians, it is our duty as soldiers to bring those who are responsible to justice, i.e. Osama Bin Laden.
