  • I saw John many times (30) in the last year of his life as he played with B Melton. It was the most moving experence. I was there to see them , in Santa Cruz, when John didn't show because he was too sick. B Melton was stricken. That was a terrible moment. It still hurts me to think about it; I guess that's why I'm writing about.
