Here's a question.. couldn't you have drawn the left side of the heart using your grid, and that whole process, and then just mirrored the one side to make a perfect replica, then take you pathfinder and join them? Or would that cause problems some how?

Maybe i'm wrong, but photoshop and illustrator uses the same techniques (both raster and vector datas).

Obviously Photoshop takes better on raster graphics and special effects.

On the other hand illustrator is so quick and full of features to work on paths

Holy crap...why don't you just draw instead of all the yacking?

CorelDraw is way easier than this. For instance...I can create a square with the square tool....click easily on the sides to create nodes...and bend those lines to any shape.

With Illustrator it takes about 3 different tools to accomplish this. I bet I could draw these hearts 5 times faster in CorelDraw than anyone could in Illustrator.

Photoshop uses pixels and Illustrator uses vectors. A pixel is a tiny, tiny dot on the screen. An image contains thousands of pixels. It kind of sucks because you can't make a pixel bigger than what it already is, only smaller. If you stretch a pixel, it looks fuzzy and ugly (so no up-sizing pictures!). A vector uses math and numbers so that no matter how big you make it, it will always look sharp and clean.

Using cs4 at 31:00 you don't have to duplicate the (blue) background layer, Just go to "Effect" "Crop Marks" on your background layer.

Please correct me if i am wrong here.

@zookner it depends what you need. Illustrator has a lot more tools for drawing and it has some cool 3D features(Illustrator CS4). You can also draw in Photoshop, but it's not as good as in Illustrator. Photoshop has kinda better interface and it's easier to learn. Download both programs from adobe site and try them.

Illustrator is to create vector graphics and edit vector graphics, unlike Photoshop that it purpose is to edit photographs. So in other words, you can't compare the two programs because Illustrator and Photoshop have different functions. So if you plan to edit your pictures or manipulate them, Photoshop is what you need, but if you want to create or draw then Illustrator is for you because then you can resize your graphic anyway you want without loosing quality.
