A search on 'Hapa Haole Hula Girl lyrics' shows that there are many variations. The original lyrics, from 1909, have 'chocolate dove'. The original name of the piece was 'My Honolulu Hula Girl', so maybe she was full Hawaiian, not hapa (1/2) haole (Foreign? White? Ghost-like?). Whatever the lyrics are, they are a real mouthful. I've been working on them, so I am very impressed that 'Gentle Surprise' did such a good job on them.
