  • pretty ugly if you ask me

  • What's the point of disguising a new Potsche - they all still look the same)

  • is it out yet??? it has been a yr

  • is it going to officially referred to as the 998 or the 991?

  • the rear end will stay like it was.. end of story..

  • It will look good if it has new rear end instead of the bored rear end in 997 as in this vid.

I miss the whale tail, please get it back.

  • I hope they make it look more like the 993 that was my favorite 911

  • sweden??

  • @Skierfe Nice I live there

  • @MrSpeedking13 Me too, I sometimes see almost fully covered cars driving around here ;P

  • @Skierfe hahaha, det gör inte vi som bor i malmö :(

  • Comment removed

  • nice

  • Yeah the rear is covered but it appears bigger. Guess what that means. The 3.8 liter twin turbo is pretty much the biggest possible engine you can stuff into the 997 and it has nearly reached its maximum performance.

  • it looks more linkr the porsche turbo s

  • Considering the 998 will be a 2011 debut, how long i wonder will the spoiler be covered.. i'm guessing they'll have to test it in public areas some time. can't wait till it's released, the 997 mkII is the car i live for

  • both nissan gtr and porsche are best super cars.great value for the money.truly i respect both of the cars specially 911 because it introduced turbo charged engine to the world and now it is used by the bugatti veyron

  • These are just covers not to reveal the real shape and view of the car...tards

  • this stupid guy at 1:13 hahahahah noooob

  • @HansUdoPetterGaga

    whats the point of that?!?!

  • seems fake, rear end looks too crude and too much of a departure, especially as front is almost identical

  • @bnmcmhn Its called camuflauge or whatsoever, 911 always has the same style and always will

  • Pls do it... b/c it will make the resale on my 997 even better since that thing looks terrible.

  • bleahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

  • the back of it kind of looks like the 1995 Turbo

  • sticker side air intakes. this is a fake

  • they looks like they are not so wide as the 911 997 I don't think this is real but lets see what happen

  • nono, look at the front, it's the 998

  • Is that Porsche 911 new 998? for me it's like a joke.

    I still like 911 till type 997 before 2nd generation. 993

    is perfect for personally.

  • looks like an eclipse to me.

  • the back of the car looks like the back of the 1995 Porshe Turbo

  • please, please, PLEASE tell me porsche isnt making this car. i know its a tough economy but they shouldnt have made the panamera either

  • it was my understanding that they aren't able to name it the "998" due to copy write reasons from ducati... i may have heard wrong

  • correct, it will be known internally as the '991'

  • I can't believe anyone thinks this is the 998.

    It's just a facelifted 997 turbo.

  • porsche wanted to give the carrera a face lift and discuze the all new speed activated wing ( yes wing not spoiler) it was supossed to be the 998 but for some reason it might not be able to. (btw this a 911 carrera not cayman or tubo) it shall come out in 2011 hopfully and the new GT3s and Turbos willbe on sale in early 2012. (ps i read this out a the Road and TRack magizine

  • it's not a 998 carrera, it's a 997 turbo cab mk II. Side vents, tail pipes, single wheel nut (as per 997 GT3 mk II) all give it away. The 998 (actually it will be known internally as the 991) has a longer and wider track than the 997. Porsche have modified a 997 shell to disguise the 991. no spy shots exist of the 991 (998) styling.

I've got my name down on the list for a 991 to replace my 997. there's not much you can tell me about porsches my friend.

  • You have no idea what your talking abput so stop. 991 is the project name. It will be the 998. And this IS the 998.

  • 993, 996, 997 and 998 (or 991) are all project names you halfwit. off to bed now son, you've got school in the morning.

  • This is the first facelift Porsche did for the 911 that satisfies me. It's not much but the more slant headlights and the rear is nice. Makes the 911 look less fat and less like a squashed volkswagen beetle. Id suggest they take some styling cues from the old 959 or I think they should add the lines created by the camouflage tape to the design.

  • it is only spoiler!

  • obviously theyre going to change the rear, theyre just detouring people from knowing what it will look like when it's finished and ready for the full production

  • that cant be a 911... the round backlight-thing looks good I think, but this tail is definitely not porsche!!

  • FUKING UGLY

  • it's a prototype car you fucking idiot, it's supposed to look like shit

  • those aren't styling mules, they're doing engine testing.

  • This is probably the facelift 997 turbo with PDK, not 998

  • i would put my penis in the exhaust, that rear is fucking sexy as shit.

  • woow , the rear looks... really different , hmm still awesome

  • Are the front lights more horizontal than on the 997. i hate the 997s bettle lights

  • the new design which will probably come out in 13' will have radical changes like similar front lights to panamera

  • No, the shape of the lights will remain.

  • the turbo is not going to have a face lift. its going to chan9e to the 998

  • maybe we can hope for a turbo S , like they did for the 996.

  • at side its similar to 959 .

but the back is quite different comparing with 997, so i guess its not 911.

  • those are probably the carrera, carrera s, and the carrera 4

  • looks like next gen boxsters

  • every time I think they are awesome, they come out with an even more awesome one. Now, how do I get really really rich????

  • I can say 100% this is a new porsche, BUT it have a ''mask'' on it, a plastic shell outside the orginal shell so peoples wont see the final product.

  • SO! SICK!

  • The rear end is being covered to disguise the changes before launch. This is not uncommon when testing future road cars on the street before mass production. They are doing cold weather testing obviously. So for the folks thinking this will be the new rear end you are mistaken.

  • Good explain. You know you porche's ;)

  • lol

  • @PorscheGTthree every one has all ready seen the new ass of the car on the new nfs

  • 1. Its Ugly

    2. Its Fake

    3. Y R U DRIVIN A PORSCHE IN WINTER????

  • because they likely have AWD and with proper tires, they're invincible in the snow.

Maybe porsche is developing a response to the GT-R's transmission?

  • My Fiat panda 4*4 is better on this road haha

  • it looks to me like it may be plastic or something stretched over the spoiler to the back bumper like a mask

  • to keep designs secret. even though you can easily see the basic shape

  • thats not the back how its gunna look its there so people dont see how it actually looks

  • and listen to it. it sounds like a semi truck

  • its fake. probably just to trip everyone out

  • These r not the new 911's :D

  • wtf, thats crap. Looks like a fucking lotus!

  • holy F the back?! wth happend? its like a 911 that got butftf'd by a rhino

  • the back is really ugly:@porsche y?

  • the back is fugly

  • Real badass spoilers. Probably not in production version, which is a bit sad.

  • I hope that this ugly spoiler isn't going to be on the new 911, if it is i will cry

  • Nothing new ! These are pretty ancient spyshots of the current 997 Turbo winter testing somewhere in northern Europe.

  • The thing on the back will not be in the final edition of the car, I know this to be true !!!! :)

  • Finally, the shape of the 911 might finally be perfected

  • eeeeeee.... muscle version 911?

  • disguised 911 !!!!! they dont have to do that, 911 is going to be the same !!!! hoooooo god, I love this car

  • i think it just looks plain ugly.

  • when i saw this i thought they were trying to put a v8 in there hence the bulging rear....but thank god that wasnt the case!

  • dude, thats not the next porsche generation- this was a test about alternative energie and porsche just sponsered the cars. look at the sign: lb means Ludwigsburg.

Otherwise it would be S like Stuttgart.

    Greetings from Germany :)

  • die porsche vorserien haben alle LB oder BB.

    greetings vom porsche

  • I love it!

  • NO! Porsche don't change the classic Iconic styleing of the traditional Porsche!

  • It looks like a Porsche 911 front and a BMW Z4 rear...

  • omg ... that was to funny and completely original haha ...

that was seriously priceless ... i havent luaghed like that in a while .... really funny

  • It's funny cause i can see American car designers actually designing a car like that for real.

  • smaller displacement? porsches have fuel economy/performance ratios better than any other car? what the heck are you talking about (a few posts below)? the 911 and boxster are medium sized 6 cylinder engines??? and they pump out 300+HP for the new boxster and nearly 400 HP for the new 911... they also have better built engines than any audi and require less upkeep/maintence. there are a few small probs with the air-oil sep on the older engines but otherwise porsches are almost perfected.

  • They've just put on a false cover to mask the true identity of the new rear end. They know if that were the real thing nobody would buy it. It's just plain hideous. I'd love to hear Jeremy Clarkson rip on in!

  • the back is horrible what are you thinking Stuttgart

  • The rear ended is diguised, the circular tailights will be swapped.

  • It is so hard to do a 998, the 997 is too perfect (in design). the back can be good if applicated to a particular 911 model,it reminds me of the 959

  • Doesn't sound like their traditional flat 6.

Maybe they're moving on to 8 cylinders?

  • no, they just added direct injection so it's a bit quiter now.

  • I like the previous model one more. The back of this new ones are ugly. they change the look of the back so much but the front is still almost the same as the old one.

  • im pretty sure that the new porsche 911 wont have ducktails man :) ... they just mounted something on the rear to hide their new design mate :)

  • Oh I see. I'm just wondering because i really don't like the back of this one on the video..

  • No, that isn't the back, the put a huge metal plate over the rear to disguise it so you can't see what it really looks like, it looks like that because this is the Turbo and Turbo Cabriolet models.

  • rumour has porsche are done with straight 6 engines, i too think there aint much more power to extract from a 6 cylinder engine and this new one will have 8 cylinders....maybe thats why the back end is longer, also i dont think think the finished car will look like that...many cars are disguised during productin to obscure the panels of the body

  • Maybe, but I really doubt it. I mean everyone's going for smaller displacement and fuel economy (look at Audi's new S4, which has an SC V6 instead of a V8), and their smaller engines give Porsche an edge in that sector. I think a more reasonable thing to assume is that they are finally making use of that back seat and giving it more space, perhaps in an effort to move the 911 into a wider marketing sector, maybe to prepare for the new Cayman and Boxter to become more differentiated.

  • I don't like the new rear. The old one is part of what I associated with the 911 and I've grown to like it how it was.

  • dont know what to think lol

  • the backend starting to look like the new bmw z4 m coupe

  • The problem with the design of 911 is that they all look the same. It's boring but at the same time it's what everyone expects a 911 to look like, thats why my feces is more attracttive than this car.

  • rear looks a bit Honda S2000 but taller

  • like The car!!

  • is that interesting? the porsche looks cool but the clip is boring xD

  • i think the rear is to confuse the people....

  • @elnigga2008 I trully hope so mate, because if it's the correct design then the next 911g, would be awful and ugly..

  • Ol tyl mi sie nie podoba

  • looks the same but with a new rear shield for potection against corvetts!

  • well I'm glad they are trying something different, the rear is not everyone's taste, but i'm sure I will improve

  • i personally think that rear piece isn't terrible. the tail lights would need to be reworked. it reminds me of the aston dbs with the spoiler that is worked into the body

  • i dont think the rear piece will actually be there... its only to throw u off. But if that piece is going to stay it will take awhile to get used to

  • Ugly as hell. They should keep it like the 2009 for a while. maybe til 2012 or so.

  • LOL WTF IS TAT ...... same old front.... and a WTF IS TAT REAR

  • chill out guy its not like you will ever have one

  • yawn

  • I think the rear pieces are just shields.

  • wow they have shell petrol in sweden. id thought it would be ikea petrol.

  • lol @ them taping the camera guy. and hiding the faces when turning. nice vid man.

  • I wish i can see the actual car underneath

  • the rear reminds me of the bmw z-series

  • im so excited for this new porsche

    oh wait im not

cause they all look the fucking same

  • but they don't drive the same, which is what counts. :)

  • Sweeeeeet, but the rear end must die

  • dude i think the rear looks good they need to change those front lights though reminds me of bugs for some reason ...

  • I hope that rear end is for disguising test mules only!

  • why do we need to look at a spy video of the "new 911" it just looks like the old one but someone has crashed into the back of it

  • I have to agree, the 911 is an engineering marvel, has been for years. but it's not the body updates that make it an amazing car, it's the mods to the 6 cylinder they have used in that car forever now. It's the engineering in making a 6 cylinder in that car one of the best performing engines for the money. It's also the engineering in the suspension and drivetrain that makes it an amazing car. The fact that you can drive the car as an everyday ride and still have such amazing performace.

  • nice the ducktail is back )))

  • Look at that padded ass! LMAO! Who do they think they are fooling!

  • wtf. a new 911 just came out

  • That was pretty much just a facelift.

  • what do they mean by "next" generation LOL

Porsche has some of the laziest designers in the world hahaha

  • They are not lazy, Just look at their latest Panamera design...... wait a minute, it is just a 911 with 4door... yes I see what u are saying by lazy designer. LOL... And it's not that good looking. All in all, Only good thing that will ever come out of Porsche is the 911 period. And nothing else.

  • that's the good thing of having a good idea, you can use for a long time even if people say its boring...anyway they're getting richer and we are still buying them.

  • hmmm :)

  • porsche needs to redesign their cars completely. i get so sick of seeing the same damn car for decades!

  • but that wouldnt sell. its all about evolution not revolution

  • Basically same car (997) front to door, and then the rear seems a bit taller than current model. Could it be true that it will be powered by an 8 cyclinder? Or gone back to top mounted intercooler? And also Covertible model still soft top? I was expecting it will be some sort of Carbon 3-piece Power folding top.

  • The rear of the car is where the engine being installed, so, there is no space for the bulky hard top.

  • not feeling the rear end at all. 930 was the best style imo

  • i like them[:

  • those r gross.

  • Ummmmmmm...wats the difference?

Ohh my lord,Porsche please stop being lazy...........

  • LAZY?

if they made major changes like in 996 you'd moan about ruining them...

  • yeah, quite right

  • i think the tittle is wrong...it would be "current generation"

  • Comment removed

  • WTF =S

  • Errr! The back looks hideous!

  • They're clearly using awkward body panels to obscure the cars' actual forms.

  • yes, i understand. But come on!

  • Heh, I hear ya. Hard to get excited about these.

  • Tell me about it! That new lamborghini that is meant to be coming out is a prime source of what massive car companys are doing. Porsche should just stick with the same idea with all there amazing cars.

  • Finaly some change in the design, but i'm not feeling it yet!

  • is it electric or made in america? turn off.

  • hideous. looks too much like the mitsubishi eclipse. any mitsubishi for that matter. what is that grill thing on the spoiler? ugg. the spoiler looks like a cowlick on a child btw.

    also, stupid in that weather.

in these economic times, esp just after the bailouts, why dont you keep your ugly blood-oil cars in europe?

  • AWESOME CAR!!!!
