  • This game sells for $200 on e-bay.

  • just like the arcade days....sniffle sniffle*

  • The sounds of the hadoukens are like the sounds of spits

  • Having grown up with the Master System, I can really appreciate what I'm seeing here (compare, say, Mortal Kombat One). It's a shame the SMS didn't experience the greater success it deserved and one can only wonder how much further the system could have been pushed, by other more competent 3rd party developers, had they not been locked in to the NES by Nintendo's draconian licensing agreements.

  • Is this an official game?

  • @ElAullidoDeLaNada yes, only in brazil is relased.

  • This game was released many years after the Super Nintendo version. Well im not sure when the SF2 came out but master system is much older than the game. I could not imagine if the kids back in time had this game when MS was released.

  • I swear the Master System has one of the worst sound controllers in a home console...

  • @goldraine technically, it's superior to the NES's sound chip.

  • @PrrrromotionGiven It's just hard to tell, NES developers knew how to hit melodies correctly compared to SMS. NES mappers also added more sound channels which probably beat SMS in the end.

  • @goldraine

I agree that the controller isn't very good.

  • Everol: It's just like Super Street Fighter II for Sega Genesis and SNES.

  • I am impressed. The MS was very powerful.

  • Controls are awfull

  • Played this before, and I have a ROM of it. Rather good, considering the system, game and the team doing the port (TecToy is infamous for shitty game ports)

  • omg, for the master system, this was amazing :C

  • awesome graphics and speech for an 8-bit system

  • as if any further proof that sagat is overpowered as fuck was needed! BAN SAGAT IN SF2 MS edition!

  • Eu tinha. lol

  • Can I get the HD remix to this please??

  • lol no way

  • Really enjoying hearing the 8-bit music! Check out the electrocution at 7:08- Sagat gets hit midair and stays stunned in place for a second or two, and collapses without being thrown backwards. I think I'd prefer it if the original did that too.

  • classic stuff ;P

  • Brazil ftw!

  • arcade perfect

  • Sound like someone being spit on when the character is hit.

  • If you go through the sound test in the options menu, Capcom actually programmed the themes of Dhalsim and Vega, even though the characters aren't in the game.

  • Ah the master system was an over looked console. It's still one of my fave machines. This version still looks better than the unforgivable Amiga version.

  • was this console ever released in north america?

  • yes

  • @mralanv yes the sega master system was in 1986 if your talking about this game no it was only released in brazil in 1997 6 years after the master system was discontinued in the u.s and 1 year after it was discontinued in europe

  • @mralanv Yes it was

  • The music is so feeble.

  • Brazilian kids couldn't tell the difference. I know, I was one of them. But yes, horrible game with good graphics, just like Sonic Blast on SMS, another brazilian exclusive.

  • I cant believe this is 8-bit! Looks 16 bit! OWNS the NES versions of street figher... though the NES was more fun. what a shame!

  • check out street fighter II for the cpc. and the nes version was pirate.

  • SF2 on the Master System looks way better than any other fighting game on the platform, which are typically chug-fests with terrible clipping.

This actually looks fun to play.

  • Do you kids see what we had to play back in the day? LOL But in all seriousness, nobody thought this was cheap back then. If anything, it was advanced and people didn't really think gaming would become like it is in 2010.

  • O_O they've destroyed Ken's theme

  • wow, the port on the MS looks great and the voice-samples are so clear! :)

  • What a piece of crap. I'm glad that I didn't have to resort to buying an 8-bit Street Fighter game.

  • annoying voice, special moves don't work but I suppose it's impressive for 1997. Yes that is when this was released in brazi!

  • @TheDemoniusX Not so much for 1997, than for the Sega Master System, which is a system that was initially released in, like, 1986. So yes, this is very impressive. I didn't even know the SMS could handle digitalized voices this good, and unlike what you said, most of the special moves seem to be somewhat implemented, although the gameplay looks quite glitched. Still, this is as close as you could ever get on such a limited system. Tectoy did an amazing job.

  • I love that announcer xD

  • Geez, even the gameboy version had better music

  • this is where the world learned "jump in and fierce kick"

  • Everything is a gag in this port. Terribly done.

  • very good looking...i ve seen something even better on the old cpc amstrad...

  • @fazares Ive seen that CPC Amstrad port and i think it must be fake,m pretty sure it would not be possible for the Amstrad to achieve what is on that video.

  • 1997? Is this a hacked game?

  • I think this is a great conversion for an 8-bit system. the nes never got one. sure the turbogrfx-version is much better but the turbogrfx never was a real 8 bit-console.

  • Around this time, the MS-games became really crap anyway. But his is also a pirate version, making it pretty good. The sound however sucks. I know the MS isn;t like the Megadrive or anything, but the difference was not as big as this version suggests.

  • @kenjuma It's not pirate. It's a game licenced by tectoy.

  • Estou surpreso Como Este Jogo Ficou legal não Master. Estou impressionado Realmente!

  • very shitty port but music was cool

  • this is absolutely amazing for a 8-bit console

  • From a technical point of view, these sort of games are definitely interesting. I suppose this is about as good as the SMS was capable of rendering Street Fighter II, though I have no doubt it could have been a little better. For example, having characters not give the impression they are floating. The character sprites are fairly impressive, but can it really be Street Fighter II if the gameplay is that off?

  • I remember reading about a Game Gear port of SFII being in the works around the same time the Game Boy one was being worked on. Did this wind up getting made out of that, or did Tec Toy make this one from scratch?

  • This is an amazing conversion for the Master System. The programers did a very good job,i didnt think an 8bit machine would be capable of this. This is actualy comparable to the arcade version rather than something that looks absolutely nothing like it.

  • I felt so ashamed when the C64 version came out. There is actually one game where the C64 actually beats the arcade version and that is Green Beret. Check it!

  • Quite curious the complaints about the game's quality. Well, an 8-bit system moving almost the same sprites as the SNES. What did you expect? BTW...I'd like to see a NES conversion...And see how it looks.

  • @timonoj

Actually, I just got back from looking at Master Fighter VI, a SFII pirate for the NES. The backgrounds are a step up from the Master System's, but the sprites are a step down.

  • Good grief I never realized how horrible this game was on the Master System. I'm glad I got that Sega for my birthday in 1992 and got this game instead of the SNES version

  • im surprised at how fast the gameplay is , considering the graphics are really good for a master system game.

makes you wonder what alot of the NES' best games would look like if they were made for the master system instead.

8bit would look alot better, and probably play better too.

  • I believe this game works with the Brazilian only 6 Button controller.

  • does the special moves work in this one?

  • For the most part, yes.

  • Pretty good port! But the pirated NES version is better for me! Wow.. the sampled speech is awesome!

  • it looks like a bad NES pirated game :)

but the speech quality is surprisingly good... even a tad better than the SNES version

  • If only developers worked more with the Master System, I wonder how the gaming industry and Sega in general would be today? Perhaps in place of Nintendo?

  • @MegaMacTV ...nah.

  • @puppetmaster983 Never know...lol.

  • l0l the music sounds better than the snes music hahaha

  • YOU WIN!

  • the game is as impressive as mortal kombat on the sega master system

its a cool system but the controller would be murder to play with for a fighting game

i like the animations and graphics and the music is generally quite good for 8 bit, cept kens theme it got massacred lol

i think that the Fm synthesiser would make it sound better tho

  • Damn Sagat.

    He is overpowered everywhere.

  • hit boxes don't apply for this game

  • O_O i hope u r joking! this is simply wonderful considered master system limitation! chars are fully detailed, animation are smooth and, most impressive things, there is trace of some digitalized voices.. O_O this is a great work mate... ofc AI is terrible, but technically is quite impressive!

  • The master system owned NES in technical aspects! It had a faster cpu and could display far more colors on screen than the NES could. The NES had more quality games though:-(

  • @ericblr

I don't agree with that at all.

Yes, MS had more colors, faster processor, better sound. Pretty much everything hardware wise.

BUT it had such quality games as well. Yes, it didn't have AS MUCH third party support, but have you seen the shovelware that got on the NES? There is so much trash on that system.

Sega never allowed these kind of garbage games to appear on their systems. That would embarrass them.

  • @ericblr The MS had Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd, though. Worth it on their own if you ask me!

  • @Linkx2 doesn't mean it should have been done. lol.

  • this looks excellent for a 8 bit console

  • not bad for an 8 bit systam

  • I don't think i t could be much better than this on a Sega Master System

  • it looks way better than its NES counterpart

  • all the NES versions are made by chinese pirates.

  • Wow they got the voices in there? I didn't know that. Its fast but not so smooth and the music makes me laugh but actually for the old 8-bit SMS its impressive. The characters are small but they look great!

  • LOL !!!! OMG thats so cute !

  • they butered kens theme....... basterds

  • seeing how bad this game is the music is still enjoyable.

  • Seriously? They brought this out on the Master System? What's with the missing characters? What's with the SSFII artwork? What's with that hilarious levitation? Why is there no icon to show who has won a round? Oh no no no no no! BLASPHEMY!!!!

  • Seeing that "TecToy" logo put me into a depression.
