I switch from cement to using mighty putty. works better than Cement or Durhams. I would like a steal nozzle too. I just don't have the tools for it. nice nozzle.
mighty putty is also known as plumbers putty. it's a epoxy type putty. stuff is stronger than clay once hard. I drill holes in sides and push putty into them this makes it's own bolts in doing that. I do still use a washer while using this putty. this holds the throat a little bit better than without.
Nice idea. I've been building cone 6 ceramic nozzles because they're fairly easily formed but as you say, they are very erosive. The higher cone levels are even heavier. I've wanted to build a steel nozzle but don't have my old shop anymore. This looks like it might be doable with a dremel and a steel cutting blade (or 2 :) ). Thanks for the idea!
this a really great idea! ive actually made one myself with a slightly larger throat diameter and it works great! ive tested it with a 8" long pvc motor 2" diameter but the only problem is that i cant find that graphite paint so the 1200 degree paint i used has melted to my pvc threads and my nozzle is stuck in the pvc =/ any idea how i could get it out?
Theres a new paint on the market called ceramic paint will with stand 22000 degress, there's cheaper versions of this paint to around 800and 1200 degress, i payed $8.00 a can for the 22000 degress paint it's sold at Auto zone automotive store,

the very first picture you show, the actual metal part is an MG3 muzzle break.
