Saw Unsung the other day and love the recap of Alexander and Cherelle's career. They were truly gifted singers. And, I would have to agree that Alexander would have been one of the top 5 Ballet singers.
Wow! The Quiet Storm. 2:00am in For Worth,Tx. 1986. Those of us that were teens in the 1980's have memories to cherish a life time, because of music like this.
Alexander O'Neal had so much talent and it's a shame that he fell into doing drugs and alcohol. Years aago, I heard he was trying to clean up his act, but since he never produced any new albums, it concerns me about what happened to him.
@Dogghouse531: I will bet all that i have in the bank that i will never eat as much as your lazy ass mother has eaten......or your prison bound father haseaten after all the years he spent on his knees serving his cell mates.
Love Unsung we need that old school music back.....even my daughter love it, but one thing I wish Alex would clean up his self little more cause you could tell he was on something on some of the footage last night.!!!!
@KUFFEE71 great memorys at wembley arena.........that bed :P....who has a bed on stage now :) while they sing............and who gets a member of crowd to lie on it :P
Uhhhh I looked up this video b/c I just finished watching "Unsung" with A. O'Neal and Cherelle and I'm wondering why the world the top comments are about AIDS? Both comments are true indeed but not what the hell I was looking for when I typed in "Sunshine" WTF??
@RavenTheePrincess I don't know but I gave each comment a thumb down to knock them down a notch. This I do know: after watching UnSung, I'm bout to buy ALL Alexander O'Neal's music!
So so sweet....I played this absolutely to DEATH on my cassette, yes,..I said it, cassette back in high school. OMG,...I listen to this now, and I STILL get tears in my ears,...still moves me and I still recall those old high school memories and dreams....
@sastaroo: My post is only dumb to dumb people. Everybody with common sense can understand exactly where i am coming from. Simple minded people can't get it and never will. Why don't you stay away from things that are too high for you.
I mean really??? I know the AIDS crisis is a serious thing and all but shouldn't that be stated in another forum BESIDES THIS ONE?? I thought this was for the appreciators of music to come and post their comments on the song that we all obviously enjoy. Any love song has nothing to do with AIDS it is the behavior for each individual who chooses to act irresponsibly. Let's just enjoy tha music folks really!!!
@madammakin you have me over here rolling but you are right. This is a great song what in the heck does it have to do with the Aids crisis?????? If that's the case every love song can be held responsible for it uhmmmmm not. You're comment had me rolling hard, I agree with you 100%
GOOD MUSIC from my hometown Natchez,Ms to Minn!I am a 42yr old black male who have had some 1night stands in my life!We all live&hopefully we learn from our mistakes! My heart goes out to anyone who have HIV/AIDS or may have lost someone to it!We cannot blame music or anything else for our on mistakes!Yes,each one of us need to LOOK in a MIRROR!In the past a black male was hung for looking at a white woman, today he can be killed by another black male for wearing a different color shirt!GOT LOVE?
Screw the aids message, this is just a CLASSIC TUNE, if your to dumb to avoid aids then your probably to dumb to appreciate what good music this is 8)
@philclay: I have an even better idea....why don't we STOP putting all the responsibility on GOD and learn to live moral lives? People are always trying to avoid the truth and that is why the blk race has the highest rate of HIV/AIDs cases of any group....because we want to leave everything to GOD. At what point do we take responsibilty for our own lives and grow up? I will focus on the music and live my life the right way too. Why should GOD do for us what we should be doing for ourselves?
@READY4REVELATION This comment is TRULY inspirational. I couldnt have said it better myself. I totally agree and am PROUD that so many others agree too. I remember the "free love" days. "free love" led to way too many cases of HIV/AIDS. Not ot mention child abandonment. God cant be blamed for the choices man makes. Simple as that. You go gurl/boi (wasnt sure of ur gender)! lol =) PEACE
I gree! Black people are always waiting for God to take control, and the devil to take the blame! Both entities exist within us and we have some control over the outcome. Take resposibility!
@READY4REVELATION Can you please repeat and repost this! I love this quote and wished all people lived by this! ESPECIALLY black folks. Eddie Long left it up to God too.
@READY4REVELATION This is a constant arguement between me and others. God gave us choice. The end. Period. God be sending people the word but most people ignore it. He sends the tools for us to do what we need to do but like you said alotta ppl just sit around and wait on the Lord. Get yo lazy ass up and do something. The Bible says seek ye the Lord with all your heart. So if He sending the way why not follow? I aint a halo wearing angel but I do know when I need Him HE is there.
Love this guy, but I always thought he was underrated. Also, on some radio statiions, if they didn't play anything from Cherelle, you wouldn't even know who he was. Alex never really recieved the props he deserved
@pdragonw The only songs of his I can remember hearing as a child (Born in 1984 here) was "Fake" and "Our First Christmas". I can *vaguely* remember "Never knew Love Like This". Seeing the video on vh1 back in 2003 was what made me remember, and I've been a fan ever since.
@pdragonw This is absolutely the GOSPEL truth but THANKS be to a few of us, yourself included who knew his (Alexander O'Neal's) worth and enjoyed the man, the artist and the talent he possessed. My finance before being killed in 87 sang SUNSHINE to me and the other song that he (Alexander) and Cherrelle sang together Never knew LOVE like this as well. I thank GOD every day for having someone special like that in my life whom we both appreciated Alex's talent and skills. Be BLESSED.
@tricky1722: Yes alot of orgies in 2011 and alot of new HIV cases aswell. People better STOP playing games with their health like this. With all the good music from the 70s and 80s what we fail to remember is how many peeps we lost to AIDS during the 80s and 90s.....it was a nightmare. @READY4REVELATION Yes that is very much so true. We've lost alot of family and friend who had nounderstanding of the diease. Even now people forget and are carrying it.
Damn! I had a few friends and family pass way as well but try to focus on the music. Let GOD handle thr rest. Focus on the music that makes you feel good and makes you happy.
@READY4REVELATION that wroge. if you was trying to relate a message you should of said mid.80and90's pumping they hot tail to anything with a club beat to it.they fail to realize they in lust not use they thinking cap or they jimmy hat!!!! this for:@tricky1722
I remember when this came out, I used to have a crush on Alex, sometimes I would cry when I heard this song, it's so deep. Now, I can listen to it and be like dang, he is so right. Ha!Ha! Can not go a day without my sunshine (spouse).
I Remember when this came out i was in 3rd grade during the 1986-87 school year at the time every time i heard this song i always was thinking about a crush i had on a white girl in my school she was in 2nd grade and i think she knew i had a crush on her ,like i said every time i listen to this track i always think back about the crush i had on her GOOD MUSIC GOOD TIMES..................
Classic Jam & Terry Lewis. Alexander was well appreciated in my home town in London, UK...where he lived for a while. I have now been living in HIS home town Minneapolis for twenty years.....closed the loop !
this is why i listen to old school cause it's real lovemusic. not all the pumping and and sweating crap that been out for the last few years. this is real love music.
good music will never go back to these days because artist don't have a clue how a lady/man should be treated when it comes to true love making or love at that.
will the youth of today know about this pure soul music. if not-then i am hoping that grandaughter will be fine just listening to those (old but v relevant tunes) played by her mum & nana x love you lily xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
