Then a more experienced doctor did it, stuck it in the right spot, it felt really weird, and that was it.
Moral of the story: Only allow experienced doctors to do spinal taps.

OH heck No, Spinal Taps are evil.I had one done and it gave me a Spinal Meningitis Fever. The hole they entered into my spine DID NOT close and I lost almost all spinal fluid...I was admitted into the hospital for 15 days. On the10th day they had to do another tap which ended up actually closing my prior tap. It was a Horrible experience that has left me with Migraine's and Lower Spine problems.I don't think anyone should move from a Laying position for at least 24 hrs after a Spinal Tap is done

The nurse anesthetist (I'll take an anesthesiologist, thank you), injects drugs via a needle into a port (not acceptable technique) without cleaning the port with a disinfectant (also poor technique). He pops off the plastic top of a vial and aspirates without disinfecting the top.
Dr. Ungar's technique isn't any better. He doesn't wear a proper cap, has "shorty" gloves, long sleeves, then uses an inadequate prep without draping to perform a spinal injection.

Every time seeing this thing I remember that; as a 8 years child I use to have those lumbar (spine) puncture 3 times in 7 days ( without any anesthetic at all! ). I remember that thing hurts me like anything else ever more. They suspect that I had a meningitis, but it was only simple sunstroke.
Had this done several times and the first doctor (just like this one) did NOT strongly advise lying down enough. When you remove the spinal fluid, your body has to replenish it, so LOTS of liquids. If you don't stay lying down you will get the WORST headache of your life. Seriously.
Doctors should be more IMPRESSIVE about the need to stay lying down.
i have AML Leukemia and they had to do this 12 times to me thruout my treatment all i can say about this is that after they put you to sleep you wake up and it feels like youve been sleeping for 5 minutes and you feel a little soar thats it so just a little heads up for people if they are getting this done it really isnt all that bad.

@damnitboyzz--Approx. 2 years ago I had surgery on the disc between the S1/L5 was bulging against the sciatica nerve. I suffered in tremendous pain for 4 month & was bed ridden. I took muscle relaxers/NSAIDs and vicoden around the clock. I had a couple of cordisone shots but they only lasted a day or so. When they opened me up my doc was surprised when he discovered that the bulge in my disc had fused to the sciatica nerve and he had to seperate them. Then "shave" the herniation off.

I hate no one but pray for everyone. I pray for all doctors if they can make you feel better and save your life! My back doctor is Muslim and I am Christian but we are best of friends. It amazes me how people stir up more trouble than there really is in the world other than for their advantage. Jews bleed and hurt just like anyone else...we are all human and deserve peace and love.

@damnitboyzz--Approx. 2 years ago I had surgery on the disc between the S1/L5 was bulging against the sciatica nerve. I suffered in tremendous pain for 4 month & was bed ridden. I took muscle relaxers/NSAIDs and vicoden around the clock. I had a couple of cordisone shots but they only lasted a day or so. When they opened me up my doc was surprised when he discovered that the bulge in my disc had fused to the sciatica nerve and he had to seperate them. Then "shave" the herniation off.
