Every time I watch this opening I get goosebumps and remember back in 2003 when I first started playing this game everything that I went through this amazing game, it's very underrated and this game was the definition of a hard MMO unlike WoW that holds your hand and tells you what to do and gives you free experience through quests. I miss these days, hoping FFXIV will deliver a similar experience, officially quitted FFXI in January 2010, 7 years of awesomeness and non stop epicness.
My many years of playing Final Fantasy 11 resulted in meeting some amazing people, who I will be friends with for life. Thank You!!!!!!! Final Fantasy for impacting my life, I can't wait to see what Final Fantasy 14 will bring.
In my personal opinion. This game was much harder than W.O.W. Which made it a flat out better game. The game play, environment, music, as well as the storyline were beautifully done. If you died in the game you lost exp and possibly a level if you weren't careful. Compared to WoW this game is immensely better in every way shape and form.

The reason is, LOTR is more xenophobic. Races in that game never join together. FFXI is more like Star Wars because races do mix in well with each other.

Its a very beautiful scene. For those that want to know .. its marked Blue Blade Fells i think... :) You can also see the flying dragon thing up close when you stand near the edge too :)

Among the MMO's, this game by far has the best story... so compelling and saddening... truly a very great MMO. Among its community and story line, its battle system and character development. IF you want a MMO.. this is the one.

There are people on my friends list that play FF11 and even they say you have to pay each month, so get your facts right or at the very least, learn to read.
Love this opening and the game xD and as for the Xbox live membership, a silver (free membership) is enough as i play this game with a silver lol. It also literally says so on the official FF XI website. Hope that helps.
Just a heads up, only the old models (old 60gb and old 80gb model) has backwards compatibility, which means you can't play PS2 games like FF11. Whats really stupid is that all PS3s play PS1 games but not PS2...oh and FFVII is $5 in the PS Store which is really awesome.
FFXI was a great game. I played it 3.5 years. I had 75 Summoner and 75 White mage. It is hard game thought. Even at end game: you can die by freaking insects or little animals which is ridicious. But the story was always outstanding. COP was awesome but hard. Zilart was mad easy. I said wait for new one might be easier.

True.. But MMORPGs all are "grindy" and repititive in one way or another. How does FF XI overcome this obstacle that turns many gamers off from this genre of MMORPGs?
mainly, the best part of this game is the social aspect. Unlike some other MMOs, FFXI is a very party based game. almost everything you do requires a party. You also have a social group you can chat with called a linkshell. You get these linkshells by obtaining a linkpearl from the leader or sac holders. Some ways that people overcome the repetition of the grind would be doing quests, missions, crafting, and just hanging out with the shell and doing fun little events.
It looks like one of the best games out there.. However, the fact that you have to pay just to play it and also you need to pay even more to get the full game with all the expansion packs is quite disheartening.. Especially as im a student and not earning my own money yet and i also do not want to keep on asking my parents to pay the subscription fees as that will be like "leeching" from them.. There is also the fact that you have to pay so much in the long run as MMORPGs are meant
I've been playing FFXI since it first came out on the PS2 5 years ago, i think this game is one of the best FFs and the best MMORPG. the gameplay scheme is brilliant, it's really hard and challenging when you first start, but as you get better at it you'll start doing amazing stuff alone or with friends. i've finished all storylines for original game and expansion packs, and the mythus of vana'diel is vast beyond any other game i've played.

the game is very good its a bit complicated at first its all about partying. at lvl 10 and up you party most of the way. you can get frustrated at times but the game is worth it. it tends to get boring a lot but just take a day off and play it again and its fun as usual its a great game

True.. But MMORPGs all are "grindy" and repititive in one way or another. How does FF XI overcome this obstacle that turns many gamers off from this genre of MMORPGs?

mainly, the best part of this game is the social aspect. Unlike some other MMOs, FFXI is a very party based game. almost everything you do requires a party. You also have a social group you can chat with called a linkshell. You get these linkshells by obtaining a linkpearl from the leader or sac holders. Some ways that people overcome the repetition of the grind would be doing quests, missions, crafting, and just hanging out with the shell and doing fun little events.

It looks like one of the best games out there.. However, the fact that you have to pay just to play it and also you need to pay even more to get the full game with all the expansion packs is quite disheartening.. Especially as im a student and not earning my own money yet and i also do not want to keep on asking my parents to pay the subscription fees as that will be like "leeching" from them.. There is also the fact that you have to pay so much in the long run as MMORPGs are meant

I've been playing FFXI since it first came out on the PS2 5 years ago, i think this game is one of the best FFs and the best MMORPG. the gameplay scheme is brilliant, it's really hard and challenging when you first start, but as you get better at it you'll start doing amazing stuff alone or with friends. i've finished all storylines for original game and expansion packs, and the mythus of vana'diel is vast beyond any other game i've played.

ive played every single final fantasy game there is to date, and none of them compares to final fantasy 7, i know its a cleshay saying its the best of them all but it is, and this final fantasy 10 was great as well loved the storyline and charcters, give it up for the cloud gang woooooooooooooooooo

but an honourable mention should go to ff9 too :) it was gr8. i do have this game, but i cancelled after the free month. theres no way i can pay £9 a month! its my brothers console too so i wont even get to play that often! but besides that it looks good!

the game is very good its a bit complicated at first its all about partying. at lvl 10 and up you party most of the way. you can get frustrated at times but the game is worth it. it tends to get boring a lot but just take a day off and play it again and its fun as usual its a great game
