  • This never was a christian nation.

  • Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel. - Thomas Paine

  • I have seldom met an intelligent person whose views were not narrowed and distorted by religion James Buchanan 15th President

I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies." Ben Franklin

  • " Letter to von Humboldt, "I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature." "Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies." T Jefferson

The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.Treaty of Tripoli, article 11 John Adams and ratified by congress.

  • “Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. I had hoped that liberal and enlightened thought would have reconciled the Christians so that their [not our?] religious fights would not endanger the peace of Society.? Letter to Sir Edward Newenham, June 22, 1792 G. Washington

  • It's okay to believe in God. Just move to a higher elevation because occasionally he likes to drown people.

  • freaking moron

  • People: Christian, Non Christian , Black white, yellow green,Mexican, what what ever your race maybe. Go back and read your history. We was founded on Biblical Principles. Thats history and it the start of what should remain. If we get away from this then you will see the corruption in the world as you see now. People that dont horor Biblical principle and donw a nation goes!

  • @gabe123list Listen cloer now four im goingto tell u a storey. Gabe123list is an inliterate monkey.

  • The Christian taliban forever wanting to turn this country into a theocracy with laws based on the ten commandments.

  • Backward cuntservartive idiot. ITS CALLED SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!

  • "we put our trust in god",

I think "we put our trust in our citizens" sounds a little better.

  • How about the treaty of tripoli?

  • The only thing about this fucking country that is even REMOTELY special is the fact that it was the very first nation to emancipate its government from any kind of religious influence. And these retards are claiming it isnt the case?

It was made to protect your religious beliefs, it was made with YOU in mind. How stupid are you? And the history of this nation HAS been influenced by religions, but none of them are part of the law, which makes a big difference.

  • LOL is this guy an actual voted in congressman or a local retard?

  • this dude is one fuckin ignorant shit and no our first congress was primarily deist and many refused to go to church...

  • If he wants to live in a theocracy he should move to Iran!

  • @DarkAngel182 Preach it!

  • you are not a christian nation you fucktards. get over it. it is we the people.

  • The American Indian obviously doesn't fit into the Judeo Christian peoples... let's kill them all and make this country completely christian. FUCK ALL OTHERS!!!! Go asshole republicans!!

  • man this country is f'ed in the A. Since organized religion is an obvious delusion, and we seem to have founded this nation on a delusion, it's only a matter of time before our bluff is called. Humanity has a long way to go and religion is not the answer.

  • Congressman Forbes is standing up for the Almighty God The Holy Triinity. He's already won!

    Forbes for president!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    He has my vote

    God Bless in Jesus name

  • thankfully there are not enough caveman like you in the us to elect a monkey like forbes president. we know what christian rule is like, no more burning witches.

grow up and say bye bye to your imaginary friend. it's time.

  • Must be a Conservative Republican because he DID NOT listen to what Obama said, he said we are not JUST a Judeo-Christian nation but that we are a nation of all Faiths. Obama did not say we don't trust in God he simply said we are not only a Judeo-Christian nation. Islam worships the Same God as Christians and Jews do.

  • IMPEACH OBAMA!

  • The fact is, every culture has a foundation of faith or religion. It is the cultures that choose to eradicate the religious foundation that find themselves in a bad spot. Cultures cannot function in a void. When you choose to eliminate one, another one will seize the opportunity and infiltrate. Look at Europe today. Most of it is secular. But, therre is a growing population of muslims that are taking root in European culture. Next step Sharia Law. Is that what you want for America?

  • It always seems that the foundation of the separatists argument is based on the Danbury Letter from Thomas Jefferson. So what??? Thomas Jefferson didnt even write or sign the Constitution of the United States. It is a fact that Mr. Jefferson was a deist/agnostic, but that has no relevance on the governing document. Bring in someone who was part of the ratification and signing of the Constitution who wrote about separation and maybe I will listen to these arguments.

  • @roadmax

The only reason Thomas Jefferson did not sign the Constitution is because he was the Foreign Minister to France at the time, and was therefore not appointed as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Are you seriously recommending he be excluded from debate on separation of church and state simply because he was representing the country in Europe when the Constitution was signed? He wrote the Declaration of Independence, for God's sake!

  • @roadmax

And the word "separatist" conjures up images of bloody guerilla warfare. A more accurate term would be "secular."

  • I accept Randy's challenge. He doesn't know his ass from his elbow.

  • Believe it or not the USA 's founding fathers, especially George Washington, Adams, Jefferson,

Patrick Henry,Paul Revere etc were all men of Faith in the Judeo-Christian system of belief as were most men in Government at the time. " In God We Trust " was put on our Currency for a reason --- What do You think that reason was??? Tehy Believed in a God then, and WE Believe in God Still !"If you are with Him (God) HE will be with you( and if you are not , He Won't Be with You!)-its in the Bible

  • Tell you what seahorse, why don't you tell us in what year that motto first appeared on US coins and why.

You can either take a guess, or you can look it up, then tell us about how it was the founding father's 'belief' in the mythical that made them do that.

Seriously, aren't you a little old to have imaginary friends? I feel for anyone who has to deal with you IRL...

  • "In God We Trust " was put on our Currency for a reason"

Unless you are claiming that the US was founded in the 1800's, you might just want to look into this claim a bit more. It would be helpful to not then discuss beliefs, when clearly your beliefs and lack of information have been put on display so readily.

  • Sweetie, you need a history lesson. Were you home schooled by any chance?

  • Look, you can have Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas. You can't have any land that borders another country or the ocean. We need to keep this infestation under control.

  • So which of the many flavors of christianity do you freaks want to be the rule of law in this country? None of you can get along now. How the f**k do you think you're going to handle it if you ever were permitted free reign? You people with start a new civil war in this country, as your kind is wont to do.

  • i kicked jesus' ass after that. he said believe in me, and i said, i do, i just hate you, than he died. and he didn't wake up in 3 days. lol

  • wiki: "blood & soil"

the xenophobes are REALLY having a hard time with this black president thing.

Looking back to religious origins is a pretty good thing to 'get real' about.

It highlights what an idiotic fixation this all is. The reality: it's not even true that ISRAEL is a judeo-christian land. Not in any original sense. We're a nation of immigrants, castoffs, pilgrims, conquistadors, bondsmen, and--originally--genocide victims.

  • I'm not religious, I'm not Jewish, I'm not Christian. Is this my country too, or not? I've always believed that the USA was for anyone who wanted to live free and believe whatever they chose.

  • @dgtubing Actually, we are not free anymore. Most are little more than slaves to autocracy and plutocracy. If you get out of line, you well most likely be arrested and jailed.

  • Are you willing to take the chance....it'll cost you a lot more than $10!

  • Am I the only one to notice that based on the noise level of the crowd, this man was basically addressing himself?Seriously, he sounds like he is giving a speech at a bus terminal.

  • What a dimwit!

  • Finally a Congressman with a set. Just sorry he doesn't come from my State

  • A thunderous applause for Rep. Forbes, this country is only starting to feel the consequences of denying the sovereignty of God. People get ready Jesus is coming!

  • I'll bet you $10 he isnt.

  • Um...We're not, and if you think we are. Just go to the nearest major city and look for yourself

  • like LA? atlanta? chicago? detroit? newyork? cities so ridden with crime and filth its disgusting? america is slipping away, but its still judeo christian

  • I'm sure none of the criminals in those cities are Jewish or Christian.

  • The founders were more Masonic than any Christian Religion. Being Christian is supposed to be an individual choice between a person and Jesus. That relationship has no context to be used politically.

The sooner we Vote these ignorant greedy fakes out of government the better off we will be. Their greed, narrow thinking, and waste of valuable time is what is destroying our Freedoms. America has the most diverse organized religions of any Country in existence by design, that is Freedom.

  • Freemasonry is not a religion. One of Freemasonry's central tenets, is the separation of church and state, ie., the rejection of theocracy. In most countries, (except France) a belief in God, or a Supreme Being is an absolute must in order to become a Freemason.

  • The monarchs of England are the "Supreme Governor of the Church of England". This gave the ruler control over religion and the country. This is more of an "honorary" title today but Queen Elizabeth holds that position today. Our country does not allow the President or any other Government official to control any particular church or religion. For this reason, we have a "freedon OF religion" not a "freedom FROM religion" as so many of you try to believe.

  • Comment removed

  • Regardless of whether any of you like it or not, we have always been a Judeo-Christian nation. When someone tries to use the "separation of church and state" argument, they are the ones that don't understand. That statement was placed in the Constitution to prevent the government from controlling and thereby forcing any one religion or denomination on this country. Remember your history? England was the country that controlled us up until the American Revolution.

    (to be continued)

  • I guess he has never read the Treaty of Tripoli signed by then president john adams and approved unanimously by the congress. It clearly states the US is not a christian nation! What a waste of their time. They have much more important things to worry about. Give me a break!

  • Just some food for thought here. You speak of Article 11, which is suspect in the first place as it did not exist in the original Arabic writing of this treaty. Even if the article is legitimate, to quote another source, "The article as it stands merely says that the GOVERNMENT of America is not founded on the Christian religion. This does not mean that the American social/political network was not founded with Christian principles of mind, or that the peoples of America were not Christian..."

  • "...it merely addresses the government of America." Furthermore, "It may occur to critics that the phrase 'founded on the Christian religion' would have a certain meaning to those whose state were 'founded on' the Islamic religion -- a 'Mehomitan nation'. The essential message would be that America was not a Christian theocracy, or a state where the church had political power, as the religious authorities in Muslim nations had power -- which is something no one argues for America."

  • The First Amendent ( the Establisment Clause) prohibits the Federal Government from setting up a "Stste Church"

Justice Black in the case of Everson v The Board of Education (02/10/1947) first put the phrase into a legal opinion.

That Case involved the reinbursment of busing costs to parents of children going to parochial schools.

Justice Black was a former KKK member, which as a hate group is against Chatholics, as well as Blacks and Jews.

  • Does J Randy Forbes understand the meaning of the separation of church and state? He says we are a Judeo-Christain nation, but Thomas Jefferson clearly states that the First Amendment to the United States Constitution creates a "wall of separation" between church and state. That phrase was then quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878 and then in a series of cases starting in 1948. So why does he omit that fact when calling us a "Judeo-Christian" nation?

  • Still doesn't change the fact that this nation was originally founded on strong Judeo-Christian beliefs now does it???

  • The letter to the Danbury Baptist is the source of "the wall of separation".

The Danbury Baptist were trying to get Jefferson to Declare a National Day of Prayer.

Jeferson never use the phrase in any other manner than to deny that request.

  • It's also in the First Amendment, and has been upheld by the Supreme Court. As Isaac Backus put it to our founding fathers, "where they are confounded, no tongue nor pen can fully describe the mischiefs that have ensued." What he's getting at are the dangers of allowing religious disputes to infiltrate a free government. That's why the separation of Church and State is so firmly grounded in the Constitution.

  • A nation cannot be Christian - only people can!

  • Oh, what a wonderful message this is, and how very timely it is for this time!! Praise God for this outstanding Christian congressman! We Christians need to pray daily for wisdom and strength for him. Thank you,Congressman Forbes for speaking up for our Christian heritage.

  • please mprsy hsrder, becasuse he has none. brains or wisdom. see if god answers your prayers. and this fool starts making sense

  • your comment does'nt make sense?

I hope Forbes runs for president.

It would be fantastic to have a president that is God fearing and believes the truth

    Forbes for president
