  • My cockatoo really loves your whistling - he's always trying to mimic you! :)

  • My parrots(and I) really enjoyed this

  • Love this!

  • I love this. Very very awesome. Such range and control at every level. Makes me want to practice!

  • @zentennial Hey Zach! LOL Wow, that is a huge compliment coming from someone as skilled as you. I often forget about this video, it's so old and the audio quality is so poor. But I guess people still like it. :)

Hope you're doing well these days!

  • whats this based on, i can imagine the song, but not the name, think it as on a dulux advert

  • @mrj147369 I'm just improvising, whistling whatever comes to mind. If any part of it resembles some other melody, that is unintentional and pure coincidence... (Let me know if you figure out what song this reminds you of, I'd be curious to know.) Thanks!

  • You made my day! Thanks. :o)

  • I love to whistle, i do it almost constantly, when not occupied by something... it's so hard to find quality whistling to imitate, but i found this video.

Damn i'm so glad i did.

Thanks to you, i will practice IN-whistling (or whatever it's called) and the humming-whistling... it sounds awesome

    Thank you man for inspiration!

  • @ahtoshkaa Hey, you're welcome!! Thanks!! You might like some of my newer videos; this one is really old and lately I've been doing a lot more with it. (Whistling with backing tracks/accompaniment, and even whistling with beatbox & vocal bass and stuff.) Glad you dig it!!

  • ah yeah!!!!!!

need to practice this to grow in my beatboxin ha

  • @babelifacemusic Cool! Hey I have some videos where I whistle and beatbox... You might like them. (If you just search for WhistlersBrother whistle & beatbox I think they should come up.)

  • 口笛はすごい上手いけど顔www

  • I can't whistle at all, never really cared to learn, and then I come across this -- I HAVE FOUND MOTIVATION! This is absolutely incredible, great job.

  • @iJrockable Hey, thanks... Wow I don't expect to get comments like this on old videos like this. If you like this one you should check out my newer stuff on my channel, much better audio quality & better tunes. If you want to learn to whistle or get better at it, I have tutorials on my channel too if you click on "playlists." Thanks again, good luck with your whistling efforts!

  • I am way better than you

  • @WhistlerproZ Quite possible. There are several people who are better whistlers than me, and that's just the ones I know about.

I'm usually very happy to meet other whistlers on YouTube because I love checking out their videos, subscribing, making friends, etc., but unfortunately I am flummoxed by your overwhelming humility and it's left my clicking finger paralyzed. I am unable to click to watch your videos now. That's a shame, because I really enjoy hearing good whistling.

  • @WhistlersBrother well darn. You're a nice guy. and honestly i like your style. Waaay to make me look a jerk. Just kidding I deserve that.

  • @WhistlerproZ Well, I lied... I actually had clicked on your channel name before I responded, and I saw some of the comments you had made to other whistlers there in your "Recent Activity" box.

Serious musical whistling is something that many people make fun of and mock... There are enough smackdowns we have to endure from non-whistlers, the last thing anybody needs is to get it from another whistler.

You whistle really well, and I hope you continue to entertain people with it. Take care.

  • @WhistlersBrother It'd be nice if you make a video on how to get those really high pitched whistles, It sounds really airy when I dry to do them. Anyways, great video man.

  • you look stoned xD

  • dude this is some cool shit! really digging the jazzy feel...

  • @jaaanson Thanks!

  • @WhistlersBrother

watching it again... still blows my mind

  • Damn you use warbling so smooth and with near perfect pitch. What's a good song to practice to improve warbling?

p.s. people have definitely told you you remind them of Rob Schneider, no?

  • @CFIsMyGod LOL on the Rob Schneider thing. I don't see why but I have been told that before.

On the warbling, the song I started with when I first taught myself (and the reason I taught myself to warble in the first place) was "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" by Ennio Morricone. But you could use any song really, and just throw some warbles in there using any two notes when you have a transition from one note to another, long sustained note. Just make that long note a warble.

  • Your a great source of inspiration for my eclectus parrot.... thanks a lot man. awesome

  • @feeneythefiend Cool! I get that a lot from people with birds... A lot of people tell me my Andy Griffith theme is great for their birds too. Glad you're enjoying my whistling! Thanks!

  • The 3 people who didn't like this must be jazz impaired.

  • @TheSimplyDaft Ha ha, I know, huh? A recent medical journal stated that the jazz impaired are more prone to clinical depression. (kidding.)

  • ha this dude can easily get chicks with his whistleing, instead of the normal chat up whistle, he'll just pull out a jazz riff whistle lmfao

  • great! Thanks.

  • i love the sound of whistling. bless your peapicking heart!

  • fucking great! not just the whistling which is good and clear, but good stuff what your head has inside, exc jazz notion

  • What was that tune? Love it . And all your other vids.

  • haha omg that's aweeeesoommme! :)

    xxx

  • GREAT !!! BRAVO !!!

  • So clean and so smooth, luv it man!

  • How do you get the notes the break so cleanly when going between them fast like you do? ie. 1:09

  • That's called "warbling" (root word "warble"). It's done by moving the tongue to cut off a note and at the same time change the shape & space of the air chamber inside the mouth to produce a different note. Some people say they put their tongue onto the roof of the mouth to warble, but my method is to move it to touch the inside of my lower lip.

  • 5/5

  • whistlers brother you rock!

  • Thanks again!!

  • Hi its just me again. Have you tuned into Whistling Jack Smith - I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman? I would like to hear you try that tune and put in the over dub portion of the song your self, you know what I mean, That might be a interesting.

  • Hey daddt999, yea I have listened to that one several times, it's a nice catchy tune. I don't have any plans to do it though, because I don't think it would do the original justice. I could get the whistling part OK, but the other instruments would be lacking... So I would rather not do it if I wouldn't do a good version of it. (Although I guess that didn't stop me on some of my other ones! LOL.)

  • Hey Michael! Thanks for the kind words! I agree, Whistling is almost a lost art. On the fluctuation, I think you are talking about the warbling. (Rapidly alternating between distinct notes.) Different whistlers have different methods, but they all involve moving the tongue to switch notes. For me, I move the tongue so it touches the inside of my lower lip to change the note, and then I pull it back to switch back to the first note. Took me literally years of practice to do it well...

  • Hey. How are you? My names Michael Johnson. I'm looking to sing professionally and I understand that whistling has kind of become a lost art that really adds a dynamic element to singing. Sad that few people take advantage of it. You are superb though. How do you achieve that vibrato-like fluctuation?

  • Hi Man...I really like your sound, lots of air capacity and then some. I'm trying to get a better tone in my whistling, I can get the higher tones not bad but the lower tones have allot of air sound at times. I like the Whistlersbrother name (play on words, Mother). Anyhow I will check back to see if you have any new post. Can you do the Popeye theme for me as thats the one I've been doing latly...bye for now.

  • Hey, thanks! Popeye theme is a great idea, I will try to remember to do that. Been really busy lately and have not had the time to post many new vids, but hope to get back into it soon if work ever slows down.

  • Dude, I don't know if you've studied music or not, but really it's irrelevant. You obviously have it in your soul.

  • Thanks! Yes actually I studied music for 8 years in school, I play trumpet and piano/keyboard. And I agree, it is in my soul!! Thanks for subscribing! I haven't put up many new videos lately, been too busy with work. Hope to get back into the groove some time soon. Thanks again!

  • Thanks man!

  • nigga that is some dank whistlin

  • how can you reach those high notes!

you whistle very well bro :)

  • How do I reach those high notes? I sold my soul down at the Crossroads. My next recording is going to have hidden messages in it if you play it backward. (Kidding of course.) Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it.

  • that is a naughty hairline

  • Yea, you know, my hairline has been receding since I was about 15. In high school a few of my friends nicknamed me "forehead." LOL!! I'm going to cut the hair short someday when I go really bald on top, because I don't want to look like Gallagher.

  • wow! you just made it up!? that's amazing!

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • wow happy i found your video thats real talent

  • Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • If you find whistling annoying (which many people do), why on earth would you click on my video?

Sorry you didn't like it. I hope you cheer up. Oh, and sorry about the baldness, that's what happens when you start to get old. Not much I can do for you there, sorry.

Also... Who said anything about "normal?" If I was normal, I wouldn't make videos of myself whistling...

Cheers! Hope you have a better day.

  • don't mind him man..lots

of haters here in the tube.

    don't worry.you're still

    duin a good job :)

  • this one sneaked right through my subscriptions! i'm glad i found it :D

  • Whenever I watch one of your videos Papi comes running from wherever he is yelling, "is that him? is that him?" we love your whistling!! Thanks, GandP

  • Thanks Grams! I'm glad you and Papi enjoy it so much. The only thing that could make me enjoy whistling any more than I already do is knowing that somebody is enjoying hearing it too! (Just keep the floor clear of banana peels before pressing "play," OK?) :)

  • Sometimes that nice warbling sound and a cup of coffee is just what a person needs to face the day. I have to go to work in about an hour. But at least now I have courage.

  • Thanks Robert! Glad you enjoyed it! You know, it's funny, when I'm out someplace in public walking around whistling, sometimes I'll be having a bad day--which has no bearing on whether I whistle or not--and somebody hears me whistling and says "Well you certainly sound happy!" And at first I think "Actually I'm having a shitty day" but then I realize... right now, while I was whistling, I forgot about all that other stuff. I guess (like Pina Colada), it's good for the soul. :)

  • This is sooo good. I'm going to have to use some of your lines as inspiration for my guitar playin!!

  • Thanks James! I'm glad this would inspire you musically. (I sometimes wish I could play guitar. Someday if I ever have the time I need to learn. Won't be any time soon though!)

  • Another amazing performance! :)

  • Thanks!
