Alan Moore doesn't like any of his work turned to film but I loved Watchmen I myself have the Director's Cut on Blu-Ray as well as V For Vendetta I love both. I haven't read V for Vendetta but I have read Watchmen and I felt Zack Snyder did his best and I enjoy it.
I didn't like the movie the movie that much, mainly because it was to true to the comic and didn't take into account those people who don't read comics. This is a good film for "fan boys," but not for the person who has never read a comic book and will never read a comic book.
rorschach vs batman would be awesome the way they see true justice is so similar only difference is rorschach kills batman dont so that would be the perfect reason why they fight eachother. Also batman vs thecomedian would be sooo great.
I agree with your point at the start about the movie answering questions for us. In the movie,
(SPOILERS!!!!)
Dan ends up beating the crap out of veidt and veidt is instantly condemmed for his actions. The book left it up to the reader to decide who was in the right (Rorschach or Ozymandias).
I actually have to disagree with the beginning portion with you hunn. And this is coming from myself, who never read the comics. I felt it still left a stiffling and controversial question for the audience. Both morally and questioning ones own values. The concept of sacrificing millions even to save billions and what is true justice. It still raised the questions, it only had certain characters like Rorschach, as physical answers to those questions.
They slanted Daniel to attack Adrian and say "You've mutilated humanity" to imply what Adrian did was wrong whereas in the book he lies naked next to Laurie showing his insecurity and helplessness. The movie still posed moral questions but not as effectively as the book. I felt more moved by TDK. In both cases a lie provides peace but in TDK Batman sacrifices himself to be the hero. I think they both pose similar moral questions, just in different ways.
I just saw the movie and it was great, No Dark Knight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but its awesome. I have to say Dr. Manhattan's mini me was annoying but it wasn't as a big a deal as everyone is making it out to be. I enjoyed the movie my two favorite characters are Nite Owl and Rorshach (In order) and of course the Comedian was cool. All and all the moviee was great. It was again no Dark Knight but I definatly recommend it. Just not for families
I went to Imax and watched the movie yesterday...awesome movie...but I could tell there were parts of the storyline that were left out. I'm going to get the novel tomorrow...which I think was what this movie was meant to do. In closing...this movie should have been a trilogy...this touched on so many different ideas for it to be compiled into a two hour and 40 minute movie.
I don't know if I told you before Silverlightsabar but you are a very intelligent young man. You are much smarter than myself at your age. Most people of your age are dumb. However you give me hope for the future. Keep making your awesome videos. Great job.
Watchmen was a great film. It stayed true to the source material and did not dissapoint. I have to give Zack Snyder credit. He completely disproved the "unfilmable graphic novel" theory.
Alan Moore never approves of his work being transfered to movies. I saw his character on, The Simpsons and his part was lame and spacey and you had to know how he is to understand the stupid role he had in the cartoon. So to me, for him to approve of, The Simpsons and his character being a whack job to him dissing his own work when it gets put to movies, is just him being a punk and trying to keep his unique persona.
I saw watchmen tonight with my family(mom, dad, brother) My brother and I thought the movie was fantasic. Yet Ma and Pa (lol) hated it!?!??! I complained the whole ride home. They have NO right to rag on it when they didnt read it. My brother was pissed because my mom was having a cow bout violence. Yes it is violent. Yes it has sex. But this is prob the 3 or 4 best comic film. It follows the book. Well.
No, I think he is saying there are two sides to every story and the movie version is another side of pretty much the same story.
It's a mixed bag. Fans can be overly critical and non fans can be clueless, but somehow just as critical.
This film also took 10 years to make (get the green light on)so it's out of date in advance and probably why people should have some knowledge of the story before seeing the movie. If I had no idea about, Watchmen and saw the movie, I might think it sucks.
No. That is not what I said. If you haven't read the source material (for any movie), you don't have the proper evidence to back up a critical opinion. I think you missed my point.
only thing i was disappointed in is that they replaced the monster with a nuke I think the director should've left the monster because in my opinion the monster really tied up some things in the book and the nuke in the film did not.
I was going to go see watchmen but a lot of hardcore fans said that the film did not give the same message as the comic and they messed up the ending. So I skipped it.
I always enjoy your vids, thoughts and opinions. However, I have to disagree... A film is another medium to tell story and should stand alone- communicate its message if it will, entertain and tell a story. A movie stands alone for critism either negative or positive. Just my opinion- anyways always looking forward to your vids
I agree with that. I'm simply saying that when a movie is based on source material, it remains difficult for it to stand alone and separate itself without harsh criticism. Few films accomplish that (ex. "The Shining," "The Godfather," The Crow," etc.).
I also would not say Watchmen surpasses The Dark Knight, nor does it really surpass Iron Man, X-Men 2 or Spider-Man 2 in my opinion. However, it was a very well made film. Zach Snyder's slow motion into fast motion action gets on my nerves a little bit, but whatever.
Thanks silverlightsaber for a non bias review, that wasnt filled with fan boy complaining. Very few on YouTube know what they are talking about. Thanks.
Is it bright where you are? And all the people change.

Watchmen is one of the most adult superhero film.
!!!!CHILDREN SHOULD NOT SEE IT!!!!
the film was good the only thing that annoyed me was the slow motion scenes.

It was a really good film and I agree NO child should see it. In the theater I was at a 3-6 year old child was there and I couldn't believe it.

The movie sucked and the box office reflected it. Fans of the graphic novel who boycotted this bullshit representation rejoice.

You can't judge a movie you never saw completly through. There's no way you can say it sucked if you didn't even see what happened.

i actually thought watchmen was better than the dark knight.
watchmen was more honest about its moral ambiguetty than trhe dark knight was , especially when you contrast batman (TDK version) with Rorshach.

Yes now i can finally say WATCHMEN beats the hell out of twilight and have amazing evidence. i saw this masterpiece at imax opening night.
