I'm considering getting linux, but i pirate some games/software would they all work the same on a linux system? i've always used windows 7 before, so i don't know how compatible everything is with linux

if you designed linux distros, why would you use ubuntu in the first place? it isn't the fastest and it often has the worst compatibility issues of all modern distros. it probably does have the best free customer support, but suse and rhel are probably better. it is the most up to date, but the problem is it uses a lot of unstable software. since 9.10, ubuntu has been really lacking quality and formality, and now i use debian

well, while you seem to be able to magically watch videos on youtube with links/lynx, I am pretty pleased to say that I can use a graphical web browser, which in the long run pretty much excludes not running an X server. Unless of course, you build your own browser, that can by itself modify the video memory.
