  • "Lost In Translation" is an absolutely shit movie that no one dared to criticize because it was made by Francis Coppola's daughter.

After seeing it I felt totally ripped off and I just wound up muttering to myself, "The Emperor (or in this case, Empress) has no clothes.

  • Great story brah.

  • She was much more beautiful when she was like sixteen, when she played Mary Corleone (Godfather Part III).

  • She's so beautiful, maybe the most beautiful woman in hollywood

  • Bill isnt hard to find. I see him twice a month if lucky.

  • @electronicmedium your cool..

  • @amodifying Thanks. Your not.

  • genious

  • The person who played Michael Corleone's child in the "I do renounce them" scene in The Godfather grew up to call the person who played Michael Corleone solely to ask him if he knew one of the guys from Ghostbusters. This is too good.

  • My fave movie ever ever ever

  • i know what he say: "什么是最好的方式回到东京国门,我只 $60 我现金,我需要在实际机场至少十个喝杯咖啡,也许一本杂志吗?'

    O_o

  • She's wicked talented.

  • @MattieCooper 现在,母狗可以写/直接

  • Lost in Translation was lame. How much mileage can we get out of the trouble Japanese people have with the American 'R' & 'L'? How long do we have to tolerate Bill Murray's & Scarlett Johannsen's aloofness? What odds would Sofia have of success without her daddy's money & influence?

  • @Jianju69 Your ignorance is more than funny.. Go and see Roger Ebert' s (best film critic on the planet) article about Lost In Translation and see for yourself which one is at fault. The movie and Sophia Coppola's talent or your taste..

  • @redhairedMadao13 Wow, & here I was under the impression that concepts such as talent & taste could not be empirically proven, (especially by a third person's opinion!) I mean really, to think otherwise would be, well, ignorant, (& therefore funny?)

Still, I promise to read Ebert's review & give it consideration. Maybe his opinion will sway mine, who knows? One thing is certain: your opinion is no more valid than mine.

  • @Jianju69 She is a moderately talented director in my opinion, nothing more.

She is great if you mostly watch Hollywood movies and the occasional popular foreign film, but if have a broad knowledge and appreciation and understanding of cinema, Sophia is nothing special. There are far better directors out there than her that are roughly in her age group.

    But hey, opinions are opinions

  • @lamentate07 I would grant that it's reasonably well done & well cast, but I was turned off by the attitudes of the protagonists. Also, though I'm not Japanese, I've lived in Japan &, their culture being a part of my life, I was somewhat ruffled by the way they are presented in this movie.

  • @lamentate07 Thank you. She is a decent filmmaker, pretty good at best. She is only over hyped because she is film making "royalty" so to speak. If she didn't have her name she would not receive all this attention and acclaim. This is a fact.

  • @Jianju69 you mad bro? sounds to me like you never HAD a shot and now your just venting out on anyone you deem "unworthy" of your amazing skills.

  • @amodifying Mad? No, I'm not angry. I found the movie a bit tiring & somewhat offensive, basically centered around the viewpoint of privilege & ego. What makes you think I aspire to film-making? Where do you get off projecting these ridiculous sentiments onto me? Look, I didn't like the film; that's my opinion, get over it.

  • @Jianju69 I'll ignore your overall condescending tone in exchange that I bitch slap you. That is all that is need to be said...

  • @amodifying Bitch, please. Raising a hand to me would be a grievous mistake, but empty threats are the tools of simpering Internet trolls. For the last time, I didn't like the movie; I find this director's sense of humor offensive. Get the fuck over my opinion, you squealing ass-tart.

  • Hahaha. You think you're funny eh? Your life's still pointless, troll. Go back to bed and weep yourself to sleep.

  • The fucking ad is longer than the video.

  • I wonder how Bill Murray felt when he was told that the he was the first choice came to the director's mind as a "run down, over the hill" actor? ^_^

Was he proud? Was he insulted?

  • @allgoo19 it's acting idiot.......not real life

  • @Daikokuten777 "it's acting idiot.......not real life"

    Are you drunk?

  • @allgoo19 LOL'd

  • No wonder she got into movie business, she is bad at talking had to find some way to get message across.

  • She asked it like a boss!

  • is the rest of this discussion available somewhere? ha, somewhere...

  • Best soundtrack to any film in the known Universe!Seriously!.....As for Bill Murray as Humbert Humbert-Lite...well,let's face it:the comedy schtickiness has evanesced. The twisted pout in CADDYSHACK that devoured the confectionary Mr.Hanky is a snapshot preserved in amber. But,how do you top that if your'e Murray.....or hell!even Chevy Chase!?

  • Sofia Coppola was the baby boy getting christened in the famous final scene of 'Godfather' - believe it or not! ||| mypixelstory |||

tag along with indie spirit !

  • I fail to understand the humor behind this piece. If she contacted Al Pacino and told him she's performing a certain piece, then Al Pacino would most likely understand her need for Bill murray's information and kindly tell her if he does or does not have it, unless of course actors believe they are so high above everyone else (the fans made the actors, they should be humble) so still, I fail to understand what is so funny or why Al would not wish to cooperate.

  • She's cute. Oh boy she's did Lost in Translation?

  • i could just imagine wat al pacino said to sofia.."Listen Sofia....(pauses)...Bill doesn't know...(pauses again, throws hands up) WHAT I KNOW!! YOU...(disconnects phone). hahah

  • ♥ See the sweet Scarlett Johansson karaoke scene from Sofia Coppolas Lost In Translation:

    /watch?v=bCfQYV1LzQo

  • She comes across as being quite vague in her interviews.

  • No way this really happened x)

  • advert....moving right along

  • Someone get Sofia a fifth bottle of water!

  • Funny, but very interesting story.

  • I need a woman like this in my life. She's amazing.

  • I wonder how LOST IN TRANSLATION would have turned out had Sofia decided to rope in Al Pacino instead of Bill Murray? How would he have approached the famous Suntory shooting scene?

  • @SystemJammer It wouldn't have turned out to be as good, not a jab at Al Pacino's acting whatsoever but this role is build for Bill Murray. Al pacino is great when he can let his emotions fully explode like on Scarface and Scent of a woman, but it would destroy the whole atmosphere of LOST IN TRANSLATION

  • @IamHaddy You're absolutely right there, couldn't agree more.

  • I think it's terrible that such a large percentage of the comments are about her appearance. People are holding her up to an impossible standard- saying that she has to be beautiful, completely modest, and appeal to popular culture while also coming off as intelligent and worthy of her heritage. The fact is, she's a much better than average director, and I'm sure that most directors don't endure such prying criticism. How often do people complain about Tarantino's looks or ego? Not as much.

  • @345emm We're such hypocrites, aren't we? Amazing how often we ask ourselves to rise above the superficialness, then immediately attack someone for looking less-than perfect. That said, I remember her for catching it back in '89 for her less-than perfect performance in Godfather III. She was the daughter of the biggest director in Hollywood, and for that reason it was obvious why she got the part. But she really came into her own and brought us "Lost in Translation"; best of luck to her!

  • @345emm I agree completely. Quentin is a great director and his films are great but his ego in enormous.

  • @345emm not enough more like

  • @wildchildd dude relax u liked it she didnt

    big deal

  • @spd13062 well you are not a minority on that one i'd say its about 50/50

but i liked it very much

everyone has his right for his opinion

and u cant argue on taste boring is a bit harsh but hey i'm not gonna convince you otherwise

i thought it was very good !

  • youtube is full of creeps and perverts .. with that being said sofia is a brilliant film maker and a lovely lady

  • @abelnddcain Pervert

  • @abelnddcain Creep

  • @abelnddcain full

  • @abelnddcain So because you call her a lovely lady it means you're a gentleman haha, like you wouldn't fuck her.

  • @abelnddcain hmmm, a creepy pervert film might just be the one to market... thanks for the idea, might get right on it!

  • @treatyourselftolunch: no, it's just a slow, quiet, endearing movie, and you're free not to watch if you dislike it.

  • anyone who is concerned about the looks of someone like Sophia coppola, who to me is a genius filmaker,,,is a complete idiot...and anyway, i think she looks great!

Hears to the Coppolas, what an incredible family!

  • bill was the best choise! he's THE man

  • I love this woman!

  • jesus. she's a director not an actress, give her a break.

  • @heyyoubabes

She is the daughter of Al Pacino in Godfather III right?

  • @imbeginner i thinks so yeah

  • @heyyoubabes She kind of acted in The Godfather a little bit so technically...yeah. Good story though.

  • most ppl judge her looks because she doesnt weak any make up... she likes to look natural... not like everysingle women on earth, looking so plastic with make up

  • Good grief there are some lowlife assholes on this thread.

  • @SecretAgent068 Thread?

  • @DerMortos76 As defined by wisegeek.com....Within Internet message boards, blogs, email listserves and even on news sites where comments can be posted, there may exist discussion threads, sometimes also called topic threads or threaded discussions.

  • @SecretAgent068 Oh i see that your refering to Jianju69? Yeah he hides behind opinions.

  • LOST IN TRANSLATION IS AN AWESOME MOVIE & SOFIA IS TALENTED!

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO JUDGE HER LOOKS? GOD MADE ME AND YOU THE WAY WE ARE! TALK ABOUT HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

  • Couldnt she have got help from her father? He is Francis Ford Coppola after all. The Director of 'The Godfather' my favourite film

  • @emirates247 Francis Ford has had trouble getting his films financed, even with the successes of The Godfather movies and The Conversation.

  • @PLANTATlON very

  • @UHeythere LMFAO!

  • sofiaa te amooo !!! eres la mas bella del mundo

  • my idol.

  • She looks like my niece.

  • I think part of the problem with Hollywood today is that half the people involved are only there due to the fame of their parents. Talent isn't necessarily hereditary.

  • Bill Murray doesn't have agents. BS.

  • She's Nicolous Cage's cousin.I don't know if I spelt his name right.

  • @womblewandering Sorry, no abbreviations for you. WHAT THE FUCK!?

  • @viniciusb

    Lol, yummy tootsies. :p

  • @womblewandering FUCK. OFF.

  • Sophia is so dumbass and so weird...

The Movie Lost in Translation was brillant and I love it!

  • I just can't think of her the same since I watched her be the biggest factor in ruining Godfather 3. It was a horrible idea to begin with but between her poor acting and the fact that her character wanted to marry her cousin, I have trouble enjoying any movie these days that has her name attached.

  • @CHIHUAHUAconda I agree one hundred percent!

  • @CHIHUAHUAconda Sofia Coppola didn't ruin GF3. A prettier and more talented actress couldn't have saved the movie from itself.

  • cue on Shalani =)

  • She's hot... the lips and eyes... the most important

  • hey I remember her from The Chemical Brothers - Elektrobank video.

  • Cute girl, great direction in LiT

  • lol, she is so cute and adorable. I wish the best for her, always.

  • go back to your death cult

  • @pitbull103

I fucking lol'd. The real pseudo intellectual faggots are the ones who love to use that retarded word.

  • she's sexy

  • @SShinX2off What? are you for real?

  • @tinotrivino yeah..totally

  • @Imflyinn

yay!she very well maybe a genius...she has the delivery and timing of a comedic genius

  • rumble fish

  • She was really good in Gladiator

  • I liked her movie but she has one hell of a monotonous voice.

  • 0:49 lol

  • She's a fucking amazing director and writter, i wonder where she got those gifts from...**Cough**Francis**Cough**

  • Whoa. It was one movie. Amazing ?

  • she was hot in the black crows video

  • Hi Sofia, you're really attractive. Do you have Charlize Theron's phone number?

  • @jondawg99 Haha I just got that! Like 1 year later...

  • i wish she'd do more movies, lost in translation was so good

  • Well said, absolutely. She's really quite a wonderful filmmaker.

  • i remember reading some reviews for godfather 3 and so many of the critics wrote some of the meaniest crueliest reviews of her performance. i think critics who did that should be ashamed of themselves, never if they really thought her performance was so bad they still should have been that mean.

atleast most now see she is a very talented artist in her own right.

  • @woollybully100 It really wasn't her who sucked in Godfather 3 it was the movie itself. Never should have been made.

  • she's sexy!

  • she is a genius

  • Wow, there is humanity and something to love about the hollywood world.

  • Because you have anger issues!!!! You should probably get to a therapist asap, or ask mommy for more attention.

  • There's a reason why it won the Academy Award for best screenplay you stupid cunt.

  • Well said, it was beautiful. An ignorant would think otherwise.

  • You're the only one douchebag. What's the matter? Don't like real artists? Bet you like Britney Spears.

  • kissble leaps....

  • She got her shot 'cause daddy is a Hollywood god- true. But she made the most of it. Would Murray have done the film if the script was crap?!

  • Comment removed

  • did you like her godfather III? I thought the movie wasnt bad just not the same calibre as 1 and 2.

  • Really? To you, she seemed like she had an assumed stance of importance or dignity? How could you get that? She seems more down to earth, or even desperate in this case.

  • @RingoWinfrey it's cause the coppola family is a film industry dynasty. at least she makes good movies unlike that fucktard jason reitman.
