She is great if you mostly watch Hollywood movies and the occasional popular foreign film, but if have a broad knowledge and appreciation and understanding of cinema, Sophia is nothing special. There are far better directors out there than her that are roughly in her age group.

I think it's terrible that such a large percentage of the comments are about her appearance. People are holding her up to an impossible standard- saying that she has to be beautiful, completely modest, and appeal to popular culture while also coming off as intelligent and worthy of her heritage. The fact is, she's a much better than average director, and I'm sure that most directors don't endure such prying criticism. How often do people complain about Tarantino's looks or ego? Not as much.

That said, I remember her for catching it back in '89 for her less-than perfect performance in Godfather III.
