@punnett It is very much that type of anime, with a resistance military force moving through enemy territory sort of theme the same way those do. It's not as crazy as Gurren, and it's not as well-grounded in its mythology as Eureka 7. But it is still very good. The main driving factor is that it's very Tomino--if you can tolerate or even LIKE his weird characters, then you'll like it, but if you find you can't relate to them then you might not. I love it, personally. Great OP, either way!

One strong example is from an interview of Tomino during the unveiling of the first ever life-sized gundam model in Japan. Judging from just his tone, and his diction, it is quite clear that Tomino hates war, so he is in fact, not violent, nor any sort of nihilist, but a chill old guy.
