WOW, Who could have predicted that progress would be measured exponentially with only our own past to gauge by. This "Writer" who attended MIT along with tens of thousands of other students over the years is a pretty good guesser. His 1st grade teacher would give him a Check Plus for his predictions with only our own past to build upon. Next time I want information about the Future of Mankind I need simply ask a "Technical writer" with a Big Head!
- Did you noticed that the girls are getting exponential hotter over the times ? (one day they will have a self integrated biological photoshop in their skin)
- And that they are getting exponnentially harder to get ?
@buzznandes nah he predicts around 2045 computer technology will be smarter than the combination of all the minds throughout the world. Hes been pretty accurate just look up all the other business hes predicted
Funny to see his pitch has not changed a lot over 10 years.
I do believe humanity should not focus a lot on what is or what is not possible with techknowledgy but more on why and how we should apply techknowledgy.
All life on Earth collaborated to form higher intelligence; an unbroken line back to our primordial beginnings.
Life cannot be contained, it must burst forth. Consciousness is the same. It cannot be contained (especially within a box of human conception). We look at the wondrous plants and animals of this planet, and know them as myriad expressions of an elemental happening. Maybe consciousness is also a singular event; one that human, technological, planetary, and cosmic are all joined.
Want to see where 'their' trying to take the people?...

What the hell is the point of this over-the-top technology? AI? Damn. Some people worry so much about inventing all this technology, rather than just living life. It's so unneccisary. I would rather do my own thing and enjoy the simpler things in life.
So....he's trying to create artificial beings who will be used by the wealthy power elite to enslave or eliminate redundant humans(who wont have jobs or money to buy this technology because machines do them for free)before the masses multiply to the point they destroy this planet or rebel and overthrow the elite power base?.How unfortunate we will all be assumed to be one of those masses:\
What is not being understood is how cheap and widespread this technology will be, and therefore difficult to control by any "power elite" except itself. It will be far more enlightened than any human government.
The danger is not that this technology will be developed.
The greater concern is what will we do with this tired and overpopulated planet if it doesn't arise?
Blackthornerose point concerning how cheap this technology could eventually become is interesting, but I'm not sure its availability will keep pace with such a drasticly increasing world population of increasingly selfish people. I get the feeling that spiritual wisdom is needed far more than technological intelligence. And theres a big difference between intelligence and wisdom, there not the same.
Incredible! The kind of future that I've predicted since the 60's when people were saying that computers will never be more than a simple machine. I believe that they will be symbiotic with human intelligence, and being human will take on a new meaning. Truck Driver's Web Site: GOOGLE Keyword "Dr. Warpenstein"

you definietely don't understand the laws of accelerating return and kurzweil has established. through known and found science, that this will happen withing 50 years...
I think it is wise to never say never.. but who knows. Maybe aging as you think of it may not be solved but there could be a different way to go into this by preserving the information you have contained in your brain and transferring it into a different form...So we may be able to preserve this aspect of humankind and integrate it with technology to take different forms. It depends what you define immortality as: does it have to entail being in the shape of a human as we now know it?

If that happens we will have to re-study the situation and re-make a new prediction.
