People usually seem to prefer the first game, but the simulation thing was really shallow in the first game, and so was the action... it was a very very good game, but for kids. Not so good for people who've played lots of games like these--it's too simple and easy! Actraiser 2 focuses on one thing and does it very well, with a much deeper challenge. They're both good games, on the whole. But the first game is much easier to outgrow, and the second game is more polished.
So ive only watched a couple of these videos thus far but ive kinda gathered that the navgtr mindset is something like...
"All games are impossible; cheat if they're available. Give good ratings to games that look pretty, thats why i play video games anyway, for the realism. Oh and i mustn't leave out my trademark tactful quips, the viewers love those."
@Sye909 the genius of navgtr is being exactly wrong as much of the time as possible. It's not just about games being difficult. They said Bubsy is easy, and god damn that game is fucking hard as shit.
Some video capture cards, like the one i have, sometimes do that to videos; I think it's due to the video capture card not syncing with the input video from the console, or the framerate. (continue)
When i stream my gameplay online using Flash Media Encoder, and Mario in SMB1 or Mega Man in MM2 get damaged, they flicker, but what i often see is either them not flickering due to the capture card skipping the frames of when they flicker out/vanish, or they completely vanish due to the capture card skipping the frames where it shows where the character is when they are actually flickering.
This REALLY affects my gameplay, i wish old consoles and my capture card had a "sync" feature.
It's also due to the fact that Youtube cuts the Frame rate in half, meaning if something is flickering in video game footage, On Youtube, they appear invisible.
Also, this was made around the time the SNES was actually out, so finding an emulator for it at that time would be punishingly slim.
Hmm, this one looks harder than the first--though I can't really tell, since I haven't played either yet. The simulation thing's gone too, I think I'll pass...
depens, do you like action games, or garden/be a god games. if you like the latter, the first one is better. the action is better in the second though.
But the sim thing, you actually got to feel like God. people praying to you all the time, asking for help, getting gifts. Otherwise it's just another fight game. Not play God and fight.
It depends, overall fun Actraiser 1 is better. Overall kick-assedness Actraiser 2 is better. Would love to see Angry Video Game Nerd do a video on the Actraiser saga.
I beat this game, but don't think I ever beat it in hard mode, normal mode was hard enough for me, lol. I did miss the building scenario in this game that they had in the first one. It was a long time ago when I played this though.
what the fuck am I watching.

Why does his sprite dissappear when he gets hit? Shouldn't it flicker? Maybe he's emulationing!

A dwagon? Dwagons don't exist, black birds do though - some of them probably even big.

It's too bad they decided to add damage when you fall from too high. That was one of the cool things you could enjoy about a lot of the older games.

I prefer 2, the whole simulation thing was kinda pointless, the graphics/music are better, and you have a better aray of moves.
