and i don't know much, but this looks like a "flourish", which he says right at the start, and not a "trick", as in the title.

The name of this flourish is the Ribbon Spread no the Cascade, Carscade is another fourish totally different.

this is a ribbon spread, not a cascade. the cascade is an effect where you do a partial one handed faro and allow the interwoven cards fall into your right hand, giving it a waterfall "cascade" look and ultimately holding the selection between your fingers.

yeah me to, i had a good deck of bycycle cards and half of them fell through the crack on my porch i told my mom to get me some more and she got me cheap ACE cards. they still work though

first make sure that you are doing it on a soft surface, like carpet. If you are, make sure that you are applying a plenty of pressure when you turn it. Just play with different pressures and you should get it. If its stopping half way, just press harder. One last thing, make sure that the cards arent spread too far apart. the closer they are, the easier they will turn over. the more spread out, the better it will look. Its a balancing act to find a happy medium.
