  • LOL sheldon had a glitch!

  • The Sheldon character kills this show for me. I know he's supposed to be a weird neurotic pain in the ass, but I just find the character unbearable. If you like it great. To each their own.

  • What did she sign?

  • @newsfanatic1000 she sign because sheldon took a package for penny, so he made a paper specifying that he sheldon took the package for her, penny, and exactly after 24 hours he gave to her.

  • who IS radiohead ?? lol..

  • Oh u can easily tell that was hard for him not to laugh when she asked him who radio head was.lol

  • If she makes 20 a day and made 156 in 1 week, her average earnings each penny blossom is 1.114285714285714 and in the later episode , sheldon does the math of her selling 1000 penny blossoms is over 3000 but it should be $1114.29. Sheldoned

  • @Kyuubi950 no one questions sheldon...u will forever be an outcast

  • Sheldon is unbelievable lol

  • You're gonna let her handle my food?

  • Don't you just hate it when top comments are responses that make no sense without scrolling down weeks of others?

  • @AnnOceanV That's the new youtube reply format for you. I still think the former was far better.

  • I just loved the way Sheldon said Penny's name it could almost be described as a seductive purr XD IMHO they would make such a cute couple :D

  • Dude I'm a physicist and listen to Radiohead!

  • "who's radiohead?"

    HA, sheldon!

  • I'm confused, I thought she made $156 dollars in a week? Given the 50cents per penny blossom that number is inaccurate. I am inclined to believe she knows how much she made in a week rather than how much she makes per penny blossom. Either way the math is wonky.

  • @oneperson2person I believe its a rough estimate. Not really wise to do math in your head no matter how smart you are.

  • :o So much respect lost for not knowing Radiohead :(

  • love the twitch :D

  • @TorryChenChelsea That'll do little troll...That'll do.

  • kaley kuoco is divine

  • I know it's just a joke, but, how does being a physicist give you a detailed understanding of business and finance?

  • @FantasyAdventuress Well, both require great math & logic skills. Physicists also model complex systems, similar to macroeconomics.

I heard that the current global economic crisis was partly fueled by financial companies actually hiring physicists who created incredibly complex financial instruments and algorithms that "robo-trade" them on the exchanges.

There's even a field called "Econophysics"!

Some pretty interesting information is available if you Google "physicists financial crisis".

  • @cculb1 You mean derivatives? lol

  • Sad to say I majored in physics and had no idea who or what Radiohead was before this video (and Google).

  • You know... I don't know who radiohead is either.

    Sheldon ftw.

  • Meanwhile, if she does manage to make $156 a week, that's $8,133.84 a year, minus a LA sales tax of 8.75%, is $7,422.13. So Penny might have a pretty good idea.

  • Well, Penny isn't good with numbers, so the 20 a day, the 156 dollars or even the week could be just turn out to be wrong guesses. Penny is not a scientist and does not feel obligated to get her facts straight.

  • "Who is Radiohead?" - "... ... ..."

  • Do they live in the same universe as Melvin Udall? Because if so, Sheldon has seemingly inherited Melvin's dependency on a single waitress.

  • When she said Radiohead, I was too distracted by how awesome I now think Penny is to see Sheldon's reaction.

  • Omg his eye twitch at 1:58 made me BELLY LAUGH!! xD

  • Well - this is the real math:

She made in 1 week 156 $, she makes about 20 P.B., that means under 25 PB, that means approximately 10$/day...working 7 days that means 70$ - (only profit) - that meas that the materials costs her 86$/week to make a minimal of 140 P.B.... Simple math...be more attentive.

  • I have no idea who/what Radiohead is/are either. =P

  • Radiohead is ONE of the important things in the universe...

  • The shop that sold some for her could have easily changed the price tags, also if she bought a batch off Penny, then she would have to sell them too, Increasing Penny's money intake.

  • That makes no sense. She made 156 dollars in a week by selling the Penny Blossoms... but if she can only make 20 a day, and even if she made them all week long weekends inclusive, she should only make 10 dollars a day, giving her 70 dollars in the week, not 156. If she were to make 156 dollars in a week, she would therefor have to make 22.29 dollars daily, which makes about 45 Penny Blossoms a day.

  • @Sasukhana That's been bothering me too. Maybe she didn't include production time, just the week of selling? Then again, that's Penny, she probably approximated.

  • @Bobopoa That would be a terrible approximation xD

  • Comment removed

  • @gurlofkilika Possible, but you seem to be forgetting that if she did there, she would have in the fifty cent approximation. If she had made 10 a day 5 days a week and if you say her profit margin if 50 percent, making each PB cost 50 cents to make (a lot higher than it would be) and cost 1 dollar, subtracting her costs means she still would have had to make 156 penny blossoms in those 5 days, rather than the 312. Still above her predicted numbers.

  • Well, she never said that she made them in the duration of one week only that she sold them.

  • @Sasukhana She is selling them through a third party so she could be charging some sort of commission or royalty to make up the difference

  • @thesteve120 All she says she makes on them is $0.50. That means it costs a certain amount to make, and what she is making from sales to others is that $0.50 per. She couldn't get royalties on this, it doesn't work like that, royalties only apply if you're the original creator of an idea now owned by another, and she owns the Penny Blossom intellectual rights. Commission is what the middle man makes, as in the stores she has selling them for her.

Logical solution : She just worked harder week 1.

  • @Sasukhana theres always a solution somewhere

  • @Sasukhana i may have just been mind fucked ny you. O_O

  • @Sasukhana She made 156 because she selled some P.B. with out the lady which agreed to sell them for her.

  • @liberamedomina She still sold them to different people, for a 50 cent profit. That's what she makes on average, per Penny Blossom, not simply from the lady who first bought some then sold them for her. The 50 cent approximation was and average guess, so even if she did make a bit more, she would have had to have sold them for an average profit of 1.10, which would be way off of what her average was approximated at.

  • @Sasukhana She DID say she wasn't sure how much she actually made off of them. Building on your statement she makes closer to a dollar on each of them than 50 cents.

  • @HalfTangible Unfortunately, since she would have to make more than a dollar per (around 1.10) for a cheap fashion accessory, they wouldn't have sold like they did. The likely thing is she extremely underestimates the number of Penny Blossoms she makes within a week, because if she had a greater number at a lower price, they are more likely to sell than a lesser number at a greater price. My guess is she has a profit of $0.65 per PB and made about 35 a day every day... giving $159ish in a week.

  • @Sasukhana you forget she isn't the one who sold them that store ladie did and she bought them from her giving her more money as well as charge rate but i guess we never know

  • @gokurichardson *Sheldon glance* I never forget.

Remember, she makes ~50 cents profit per PB as the manufacturer. The store lady then puts a mark up to make herself money, which is why it doesn't matter who she sold them to. She's also a simple business woman, so she wouldn't have worked out a contract with the store lady (she even notes that the store woner bought them)

Oh, and yes, I will respond to everyone who challenges my analysis :D

  • @Sasukhana ...given that Penny's profit calculations were correct. Which is not necessarily the case.

  • @Pomme843 Of course, but her estimations for what she made per PB would have to be a gross underestimation. @Armasuirina made a good point that, when Penny said she made $156 she did not take away the cost of materials, so the 156 was a gross profit, not net profit. That means, selling at ~1.00 per, and having a little less than a 0.50 profit, and if she made around 22 PB a day, she would make around $154.

Though not sure why she would say the gross profit, then give Sheldon net profit...

  • @Sasukhana but you can't assume how much she made before even selling them. in theory, she could have stocked up to 312 penny blossoms before selling them, which would give rise to her claim that she made $156 in a week.

  • @soulessnessD True, but story wise it probably would have alluded to that in a prior episode that for 2 weeks 2 days she was making PB, and she made the claim of "In one week I made $156!" which indicates it's a reasonably new business venture. Though she could have done that, yes, or she could have just been exited week one and over the course of the week just been working at a faster pace.

  • @Sasukhana the 10 dollars is probably subtracting costs

  • @Sasukhana since the prior have all valid responses as to why your statement might be wrong, i will conclude with the following...

    what they said.

  • @Sasukhana it's just a show. stop being a sheldon. =)

  • @roddyjo what did he say?

  • @Sasukhana the script is written by white people, what do u expect

  • @Sasukhana the store could be paying her too. some suppliers do.

  • @Sasukhana ppl always do this mistake and penny obv. too: i guess she made the blossoms in more then a week but the moment her friend told her to buy these till the day she got the money in her hands felt like just a week.

  • @Sasukhana

Or she sold them at different prices originally before coming up with the final price she gave Sheldon.

Don't overthink things, leave that to Sheldon.

  • @DomWeasel You can't "over think" something, that would be ridiculous. You can think about something, and learn what there is to know about something, and once you know what there is to know, your done thinking. You cannot know more than there is to know, ergo you cannot over think.

  • @Sasukhana I suppose that doesn't include people prepaying or if Penny had an inventory of previously made ones not including her current production rate

  • @Sasukhana its possible she made them ahead of time and then sold them over that one week

  • @Sasukhana You don't know how long she had been making them though.

  • @Mankind081 There is a limit to the time, though. If it were too long, it would have come up in previous episodes. Mind you, she only would have had to have started 1 week 2 days in advance.

  • @Sasukhana really? you're mathematically dissecting a sitcom? buzzkill...

  • @gunjank I'm mathematically dissecting a sitcom about physicists, specifically a scene about a theoretical physicist, a job where the point is to represent nature through math.

    So yes. Yes I am.

  • @gunjank He's mathematically dissecting a sitcom about science, more concretely something a character with above-average intelligence.

He's totally right to do so

  • @Sasukhana She doesn't know her expenses ("I don't no, like 50 cents, I'm not sure") so she could be making as much as $1.11429 profit per unit which would be $156 per week at 20 units full time. She said "in one week I made 156 dollars". Because she didn't say profit she may have meant turnover, as she doesn't know her expenses. Thanks for dragging me into the saddest debate ever. It's worse than the time I had an hour long debate about who is better: alien or predator (it predator btw).

  • @Maca2199 ...You wrote one comment.

Also, saying "I dunno, like 50 cents" then having an actual profit of ~$1.12 means that Penny hasn't payed attention to anything that she did for a week. Next, you said profit =/= turnover. That means whe would have had to have meant GROSS profit, which means she would be making less still. She also seems to know her profit margin, otherwise Sheldon's calculations would have been invalid.

    Also, I don't care if it's a sad, pathetic debate. It's fun.

  • @Sasukhana Now I wrote two comments. Happy?

It doesn't sound like she knows her profit margin to me, it sounds like she's guesstimating (for lack of a better word). Sheldon’s calculations are based on the assumption that the information she gave is accurate, but I'm pointing out that it could be way off. Your prefect faith in approximations makes you sound like a true physicist. Next you'll be doing calculations based on the assumption that you’re dealing with spherical chickens in a vacuum.

  • @Sasukhana Three comments...GODDAMNIT!!!.....It is fun though.

About the turnover thing: I was saying that Penny might be quoting her income without taking expenses into account (which wouldn't be logical but come on: its Penny). Again, your agument is based on the assumption that Penny has some idea of what she's talking about and that shes reasonably logical but in your analysis and calculations you forgot to take into account the fact that she’s blonde (a mistake Sheldon wouldn't make).

  • @Maca2199 But he did :D

He used her calculation of .50 cents per PB. Also, I understand now, you meant the 156 was her gross income, not her net. But it's still stange that she said that she made 156 dollars in a week, and then gives Sheldon a net income per PB. Working on that idea (I may have said this before), she could have made 22 a day, 2 more one day, selling at 1.00 per, giving a gross income of 156 dollars, and a net income of 78 dollars.

  • @Sasukhana He used her information for a quick estimate because that was all he had. He didn't necessarily have faith in its accuracy. I calculated an error (difference between experimental and theoretical value) of over 150% in an experiment in first year. There was nothing that I could do because the recorded values were so far off so I just stuck with it. Exactly, 20 was another approximation so it could be a combination. If I write another comment I going to kill myself.

  • @Maca2199 Makes me wonder if I should make an argumentative reply xD

  • @Sasukhana ....you're really over thinking that. e .e also forgot that she sold some to an older woman who wanted to sell some so that would include how many she gave to her.

  • @Sasukhana you are right, she said she made 156 dollars in a week, but Sheldon's math is still right, penny is just wrong about either how much she makes in profit, or how many penny blossoms she can make in a day.

He says 10 dollars a day, times 5 days a week times 52 weeks a year is 2600 dollars. and he's correct.

    20 penny blossoms at 50 cents a day = 10$ a day.

    10$ a day = 50$ week.

    50$ times 52 weeks = 2600 dollars...

    so technically Sheldon is right.

  • @Bermundos Or the possibilities she had stockpiled a few and then sold them along wiht the others she made that week.

  • @Bermundos penny could still be right and the lady whose shop she sold her penny blossoms at sold them at a different price or maybe penny sold them at a different price to her friends at work

  • @Bermundos yeah I think she's just wrong about how much she makes per penny blossom

  • @Sasukhana yes but to be fair she wasnt completely sure just how much she sold for them so that has to be taken into consideration

  • @TheEastunder Oh, I know, it's still a gross source of error.

  • @Sasukhana ya but its a sitcom whatcha gonna do

  • @TheEastunder COMPLAIN ON AN INTERNET VIDEO~! *Puts on serious face*

  • @Sasukhana is this sheldon?

  • @TheEastunder No, just somebody trying too hard to be him.

  • he has a special condition,,, its called twitching like that in situations,, its rare my whole family has it

  • Haha why exactly does Sheldon twitch like that in situations?

  • @Bubbly21 he twitches when he doesn't know the answer to something.. particularly something about popculture.

  • Radiohead is the best band in universe, Sheldon. :)

  • She is so cute =)

  • If she made $156 a week, she would make $8112 a year, not $2600

  • @TheKYLEdavid $156 is what she MADE for a previous period; but what S is counting is 10$ * 5 * 54 = $2600. so it is actually 2600 a year

  • @maximslmai there are you mean 10*5*52=2600

  • @maximslmai I didn't know there were 54 weeks a year. Something's off here!

  • I miss the eye twitch.

I miss when it felt like Penny was becoming a great friend to him...

I miss loving this show the most...

  • @takineko ...yeah. :( Where did that show go?

  • @ghidorah15 Season 3 ate it.

  • @takineko whatever do you mean? the show's not been cancelled. you can still see all of those things and more

  • 1:56 - 2: 08

ahaha i love his eye twitch
