  • Awesome. Best song from Kveldssanger. The whole Black Metal Trilogy is just epic.

  • I want this to be played at my funeral...

  • True Black Metal

  • hey i just discovered these guys and i am embarassed i havnt learned of them sooner....any recomendations on starting out on them??? whats albums are considered their best?

  • @msnikish11

Every album is completely different... Ulver is unique. If you find interesting all of them, you'll be the hero like them.

  • They always had great artwork on their older albums. Anyone know who did the art?

  • @dakotamanomgwtf Tania "Nacht" Stene did the artwork for their first three albums.

  • beautiful video

  • Brividi...

  • hail old ulver!..

  • 5 dislike idiots !

  • dire che è bellissima è diminuitivo

  • Kveldssanger is their best album. No other work by Ulver (or other bands) can beat this indescribable uniqueness of music. Such an atmosphere cant be found a second time.

  • @Galgefrist Not sure about that Empyrium's stuff is pretty overwhelming too!

  • MASTERPIECE!

    song and video!

  • It's a awesome song, always I listen it, I feel a great peace in my soul and mind. These atmosphere is perfect to think about mysterious of life!!

  • Ulver is art

  • i love your video..i think is so intense.. (at least for me)..i dont know why but it makes me feel this beautiful song much better..

always a couple of beautiful pictures can help to enjoy better some tunes ..

  • awesome band is ready music black metal \m/

  • good job on this video!

the wolf spirit truly deserves it....

  • I love this band. Every album is great in it's own standing. I remember hearing these guys in 94, for Nattens, and being blown away.

And yes, being in the forest only makes black metal that much better.

  • Hey everybody! Check out my instrumental version! Ulver rules!

  • A jewel of song.....timeless....ULVER

  • Why is black metal so weird?

  • @superchef78 because they aren't doing this for the money. they know there isn't money in it, they do it because they love the feel, the emotions, the power behind black metal. it's a style of music very close to "pure" simply due to the fact that there is so little chance of corporations trying to change the music into something it isn't to make more of a profit. hence, it tends to be off the beaten path of music

  • Very articulate, bluemoon flame. I'm not a 'black metal hater', it's actually one of my most well loved genres. However, I never understood why they occasionally have strange vocals (like the howling/chanting in this one) and the imagery they use. It's different, but effective (to the 'few' that bother to listen). Many merely dismiss it off the bat because of the supposed 'Anti-Christian' themes. While I admit it is a main proponent to black metal, there are many bands that aren't 'Satanic'...

  • @superchef78 yeah, that was initially my hesitation in getting into black metal. it was founded primarily by satanists, and there is probably a higher percentage of the bands in black metal that are satanists than other genres, but they just get music in a totally different light than anyone else out there i feel. than again, i could just be a fanboy :)

  • @bluemoonflame

Ah, same here. Why can't they do the same stuff, and not have to say things like "F**** you and f**** you all! And GOOOOO DIIIIIIEEEEEE!" Ok, that wasn't an actual quote. But does anyone know what they are saying in this one?

I stopped listening to metal bc the lyrics were just sooooo awful... and Christian metal bands like As I lay Dying are not in my fave style.. T__T

So I tried foreign stuff like Nordic metal.. and gave up :P

  • This song sounds so amazing it feels like time is standing still when I listen to it.

You know you're doing something right if another very good band dedicates it's music to replicating your first 3 albums (Agalloch).

  • usually i hate the slideshows that people put up with songs, its usually a bunch of pseudo goth fag pictures of a painted image of death and some pentagrams...i really loved the images you used for this wonderfull piece of work...it really helped capture the emotion of the song..hails

  • buena musica. \m/

  • buena musica. \m/

  • Words can't begin to describe the haunting beauty of this masterful track off this seminal album.

I have lost count the number of times I've gone to sleep listening to this work of art.

I'm not a great guitarist by any means, but, I've found that the songs from Kveldssanger so nice to play physically. There's a certain quality to their music which is so hard to pinpoint.

    Thanks for posting.

    Regards,

    H

  • For all you dingbats saying that the lyrics of ulver's music is irrelevant, hah, you have no idea... If you're not Norwegian, google the goddamn lyrics. Then you'll discover, that the lyrics are as beautiful as the music.

  • @xshaggothxx I've been looking for the lyrics on google, but everywhere i look they only have a quarter of the lyrics written down. Im still looking everywhere for the translated lyrics so I can finally know the meaning of this beautiful song

  • @xshaggothxx If you know the lyrics, please share! I know a little Norwegian, enough to know this is deep and beautiful, but not enough to know it all. The lyrics aren't online, not complete at least. Thanks!

  • @Leonhart231 Har du synen Kan du se at sola Ulvsblakk Har du synen Kan du se at Ulvsblakk Ulvsblakk Tida Stemmen har Djevelen Ulvsblakk er med

  • some people die 4 love...some people die 4 country... if Ulver ever wage a war - I'll die for them!

  • Kvedlssanger (La música para esta noche)

  • beautiful norwegian folk song!

  • Clearly, everyone who has written a comment on this video so far must be a genius.

  • so beautiful....makes me feel like i'm in another universe....

  • Comment removed

  • This is just beautiful!

  • Does Ulver mean wolves? (Trough my danish experience)

  • @Buorin yep :)

  • amazing, absolutely amazing....

  • This an absolutely amazing piece of music that words won't even begin to describe.

  • beautiful..

  • Amazing! This is folk/black metal at its best here.

  • sounds like a cross between iggy pop and my asshole

  • truelly beautiful song

  • @P3ngu1nPwns Truly.

  • @Gangu1z

    truelly.

  • @P3ngu1nPwns Tr00ly.

  • @Gangu1z y00s.

  • @P3ngu1nPwns Ah, truly.

  • its not bokmal, its some weird pre-bokmal archaic dan-norske, like nearly all their early songs

  • Panemorfo tragoudi.. Den uparxei... Just awsome... Greetings from Greece.

  • @NewGenSUPER3 Ulver eivai kalitero

  • I think this is black wolf in english.

  • Correct.

  • Sounds like bokmål to me....

  • Music is a universal language, so any spoken or written language appearing in music is largely irrelevant.

  • @Skjoldvall You think what you're saying is relevant when you connect the dots, but in actuality, most of the modern humans nowadays cannot appreciate the true nature of music. So, what you're saying are just hollow words that please other people, like the false prophecies of fate and destiny and all that forcing that god exists in the media bullshit. Develop synesthesia...

  • @NRRRDLemur14 I've no idea how you managed to relate what I said to humans' individual perception of music, but alright. Just because you believe you know the 'true nature' of music, doesn't mean others might agree with you. What kind of music you like, entirely depends on your emotions. And you probably know that different people have different emotional lives. Therefore, your own definition of the 'true nature' of music is also irrelevant. Now stop being an elitist little boy. :)

  • @Skjoldvall I was mostly just being a dick whilst intoxicated off sleep deprivation. But, I love the little smiley face at the end you put. =).

  • @Skjoldvall no...

  • @Thrillseeker666 do you bitch, the words arent the point regardless, most of their music is instrumental

  • @JegErFritjov : Yes, I do, retard. I am a pure norwegian:)

  • @Thrillseeker666 "ALERT! IT'S THE FASCIST!" :D

  • Could you please write the lyrics for me, I can't find them on the internet, just some lines. I understand what they sing since I'm from Finland and I speak swedish, but I can't hear everything so I don't know what the lyrics are

  • i started nwn druid just somewhere near in time.

i was to change to bear, with a panther aside.

you think wolf now good way is? spirit points this way, for my post here, or choosing it. should i then ? hmm i mey like wolves but bear is cool too isnt it .?

  • Lyrics, for you danes/ norwegians. I would love to see some translations.

  • I LOVE MY WOLVES

  • Ulver makes me proud to be Norwegian!

  • Im not Norwegian but you guys are bad asses. Keep the exports coming !!

  • Isn' this in Norwegian? Although I'm a Norwegian and only understand some words.

  • Because he sings in Danish, I think.

  • I'm danish and I don't quite understand what he sings, maybe it's because it's a weird way he sings.

  • im an american i woudlnt callmyself fluant in norgweigian, buti dabble, impretty new to ulver, more a oldschool dimmu borgir kinda guy, but ive looked up a few lyrics and it looks like they sing in nynorsk or old norse or something, just a few words seem weird to me, itmight be just grammar im unfamiliar with though, that might be why you have trouble understanding

  • well, it's definitly not bookmal...

  • @Rogererenden appaarently its some sort of archaic dano-norwegian, before bokmal was even a written langauge

  • bokmål

  • are these languages so similar tht you can easily understand each other?

They look (i mean words) really similar but how is it going with pronounciation?

is swedish closer to norwegian than danish or not?

    peace

  • Actually thats where it gets weird :P

We can write to eachother and easily understand each other but when we are talking to each other its not so similar at all :P

  • i see...

we hv opposite problem in Poland - we can get what Slovakians or Russians say if we are focused to remember they're using words in 'old meanings' tht has changed in Poland (form our point o view). But reading Czech or Slovakian brings some trouble ... don't mention russian alphabet :D

    Skål

  • archaic Dano-Norwegian

  • bless you!

    (what should that be? ...)

  • very very good song

  • Wow, some of these riffs, my friend created sound similar to them.

  • Maybe, he copied them?

  • I doubt it. His creations are spontaneous. Just was coincident it sounded very similar.

  • It may not be black metal, but it sure has the same atmosphere of Bergtatt.

  • ne absolute kult platte. btw :really nice clip*****

  • yes . very good match of pictures & this super Ulver song!

  • Broken English makes me smile :D, few comments down.

  • Referring to my comment? That was actually sarcasm... "Broken English" works too :D

  • Interesting, yesterday evening I was reading a tiny book with quotes of 'Broken English', which is the name of the book as well, and the guy who published it is a British living in Norway for 30 years. "Hello, I'll take a bloody beef, please." "No problem, do you want some fucking potatoes as well?" HAHAHAHA

    Great song of course. :)

  • nice.

  • All this is awesome !

  • Beautiful song.

  • words can't describe how beautifull it is....

  • this song are like a large flowertreee when it are awesoem! please become a large understantment inside of my english because it has a large of suck! become a nice day and find the peace of your jurney!!!! big greetings

  • Good Ulver. I hate the new shit.

  • Me to, the new shit is pointless.

  • I for one love the new shit. Bergtatt through Nattens Madrigal were all amazing albums though.

  • Does anyone know what "ulvsblakk" means? Please tell me, thank you in advance.

  • I found the official translation for "ulvsblakk." It means 'wolfsgrey.'

  • It can also mean "wolfpelt" in some sentences.

  • Wow... this is beautiful music. It really reminds me of classical music being played back in the day.

  • Really nice video, i enjoy watching this... brilliant atmosphere... check my ulver video

  • November 7 in Athens :)

  • It is hard to choose witch is the better: bergtatt, nattens madrigal or kveldssanger. Thought I think this album still is black metal.

  • Absolutely brilliant album. If you don't see it's genius then you're not looking in the right places.

  • best ulver's song

  • not bad..but bergtatt and nattens madrigal is in my opinon way better :P

this is not black metal thought.

  • now this is good ulver, cant stand the new stuff

  • Well no shit.

  • dude, this transpired into their new stuff.

  • ghosts ... ghosts of us own lost memories...ghosts...

    north power...

  • For me it's also the best song from this album. Love the end guitar part from minute 5 so much!!!

  • Ulver on headphones + spliff + Winternight in a Norwegian forest = HOLY

  • hell yea thats how its done sonnnn haha. I love this stuff when Im high. I just took some shrooms and ecstasy the other night and listened to Worship. it was the song 'Zorn a rust-red scythe' from Dooom. absolutely beautiful music

  • Wait so you actually go out into forests and listen to this? Ahh dude, your weird.

  • @superchef78 nope that's cool :)

  • What's cool? I think it's weird to go out to forests merely to listen to black metal.

  • @superchef78 No I think it's cool. The sun on your face, some nice music and the woods. I love the mystic of woods

  • @Kuifstaartje The sun on your face... you captured it, mate :)

  • this video is full of ghosts and the sound is simply hipnotyc.

    anftastic

  • strepitoso

  • No idea what Garm means with that the performance on the album was a failure... This is intrinsic magic played in the most beautiful, sublime way. Guess he's just fastidiuous concerning his music =)

  • It's quite customary for very talented individuals to hold their own creations under severe critique. Though most would agree that Kveldssanger is nothing of a failure, perhaps in the eyes of Garm it failed to achieve the heights of some fantastic ideal. Just a thought.

  • Ulver - Kveldssanger is Acoustic... i like this album ...but song is my favorite this part: 3:20

.... and you video is very good...congratulations

  • Love Pentatonic Minor <33

  • sure this song is nice, but it's not the best from the album.

This album made me interested in folk (usually listening to metal), which can be a fuckin great when it really creates an atmosphere i think.

BUY this album, don't download it, it's worth much more than a few euros.

  • Wolves are so mystic and beautiful... this song is both, and the video is remarkable. The drawings chosen are very nice.

  • There's no such thing as good or bad music. There is just music you like and music you dislike.

As for me I'm putting this in one of my playlists...which is a pretty big deal.

  • LOL... i have this abum badass

  • Eargasm <33

  • i always imagine vikings sitting around a camp fire telling stories when i listen to this song. its fucking epic!!!!!

  • so dark. so beautiful.

there cannot be any substitute for this.

  • Comments are an excuse for cruelty I agree!

Focus on the music it is far more interesting than the random ravings of any nearly brain dead maniac that hides behind his keyboard.

  • you all seem to have a lot of anger in your posts. have you thought about the fact that you're reacting this way to people you don't even know, who have said very little to you? have you thought that maybe you just want an excuse to be pissed? lighten up, yes?

and please spare yourself the trouble of replying to this one, at least. I won't be back.

  • well said my dear

  • try to stick to the video instead of insulting one another... its a forum to exchange info about the band, not to flame or to annoy strangers.

  • words cannot even express the feeling that has risen inside of me after witnessing this child so near to my precious ulver. Fuck off you child, and return to school.

  • thanx 2 necroculto66 4 sharin this video wit me cuz im not into music like this but im open 2 different music. I like I like, i luv him 4 sendin the very first video to me which was paper planes by m.i.a before it even received play on the air, & he haz a very good ear 4 muzic. Im luvin thiz.

  • too many numbers and "z" in your sentences. even though you got 1970 in your nick i guess you are not more then a maximum of 14 years old?

  • still too many "z" and numbers, my guess is still 14 years old.

and no im not here to fight, but your sentence is so, sorry for the expression, fucked up

  • This is a true masterpiece of a composition. The last solo bits just kills me every single time... such overflowing emotions...

I read in an Interview Garm said that this was a "failed attempt on creating a classic album". I bet they don't know themselves how brilliantly the album and the particular song was written. Absolutely fantastic capture of emotions.

  • Garm's said somewhere that he meant that the performance was 'failed', but that the content of the album was not (a failure).

  • It makes me eargasm :3

  • obviously you have your ears next to your ass wich must smell like hells since you've probably have not baith in a long time.....the crap my friend is what comes out of your mouth!

  • WTF??? i was not repliying to make you laugh or to make you a foviur man!!!!if you cannot appreciate the grandeur of this band don't listen to it,no one is forcing you! and just for fun....what music do you consider not crap??? :))

  • the first song is the best in my opinion, then this one.

  • add &fmt=18 to the web address to listen in high quality. it's a must.

  • Really great, but Garm's clean vocals sound better on Bergtatt i think... too flat... But don't get me wrong, I still love this song (and the album).

  • NICE VID

  • I know this song on guitar lol

  • HAIL TO THIS MASTERPIECE!

    HAIL ULVER!

Great video, well done, captures the feeling well.

  • Their best song on their best album so far. They should do more stuff like this. So bad the Ulver nowadays isn't like the Kveldssanger album. I was characteristic, unique.

  • Im not keen on Ulver after the trilogy either, although the marriage of heaven and hell album was interesting... They are consistant in making EVERY album different.... Im not sure that is a great thing though.. Like yourself I wish they would do more of this acoustic stuff...

  • The best song of the history!!!

  • my fav ULVER disc.
