  • That is a mean guitar, and you got the chops to play it.

Don't even say you messed it up, you know you just owned that song lol

  • @ZeppelinFan6980 That was cool...if I had kept up the guitar ,,,,with about 30 more years practice I could do that!

  • i watch this video often.....Loving it!!!!

  • Its not Stevie, its not Albert, its you man, and you are great,AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • god job man

  • What in the holy fuck are you apologizing for? That had soul, man. You made that guitar sing and the vibrato was awesome.

  • that's nice feel man.. keep it up.

  • just continue doing good things bro ... dont mind these 21 DEAF peeps a'ight? ... :)

  • your string bending is really good. like the axw too, wish i could see it wiothout the fx...rock on man

  • Dude that was great, I don't understand how 21 people don't like it???? I am sure that they are just SOOOO much better then you. If so you would think that they would respond with a great video of them! Keep playing you are very good and thanks for posting!

  • Mate thats better than I can play...and I been playing for 13 years. Fuck...I need to get back on electric instead of acoustic.

  • yeah, that was some good playing, I am trying to learn stevie's style now, it isn't easy to do.

  • Very good playing, indeed. Nice guitar to. Keep on

  • Good job, mate. I too think you're very good and should give you much more credit for what you do. Thanks for the great moment.

  • Give yourself more credit!!! You're very good!!!

  • Hey, some neat blooz playing there, bud, keep it up - Don't worry about all these tossers who keep going on about how the guitar looks, they're just bitter wannabes who can't play anything and have nothing better to do with their time....You da man!

  • who took a dump on your guitar? cause we know thats not from daily use

  • @RcUniverseGuy hahaha who took a dump on his head?eddie van bluesman/half song edit got 150k hits, thats it it I'm dusting off my banjo.bs

  • @DanielGrozier LOL! :P

  • @redmansounds eh redman you're a goodman, excuse my drunken taunts, they were the ramblings of a drunken has been, never was been ,jealousy whore, you rock on on mate, great passion and soul

  • Very nice lead, but did you ever learn how to play rhythm? It's easily 75% of blues guitar. Endless solos are pretty boring.

  • I think it's nice...in fact..very nice.. If you played only a tiny bit behind the tempo it would be perfect.

  • If there wasn't something messed up about it - it wouldn't be

    the blues would it?

  • very nice :) you should do some of those licks slower for us :)

    keep rockin

  • Elmore James,SRV,who cares,It aint nothin but just plain good bro...

  • if you are going to criticise yourself for messing up then you messed up the whole song because its not the same as stevie or elmore james version at all, its your interpretation.

  • Sounds like you're playing your music, not SRV's. Good job, in any case.

  • Damn, good job.

  • i think what you are saying is noone can play it like stevie, the man was a god in the guitar world, nice job man...props

  • Damn that was definitely a lesson in how to mess up a song, I really must improve my messing up ability to get to that level...............absolutely amazing!!

  • @iJadonator It comes with playing. Or relicing. Or sometimes even, the Jimi Hendrix approach

  • Comment removed

  • I like!

  • hehe....loved that "horrible mess up" you presented for us here...very well done :-))

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah dude . . . messed it up just about perfect

    This guy is crying . . .

  • not bad... not bad at all

  • I recognize you play very well, but I didn't get that blues feeling, y' know... please don't rape me fellas

  • How do you get the sound? Of course that doesn't mean you don't shred! Excellent rendition, why do you hide your face?

  • Good stuff there redmansounds..Keep on jammin out there !!!

  • I disliked this video because I'm jealous

  • SRV would have liked this cover. You 17 dislikes need to get a life. This guy is the real deal. Thank You redmansounds for this post. All us mear mortals loved it.

  • @plumb2013 All us mear mortals loved it... Come on, you are talking as if he was a god of guitar, he's very good but take it easy.

  • Why don't you at least tell us if you are tuned down 1/2 step?

  • VERY NICE

  • Love the precision and acuracy you have. You were tired playing this. However It is the best on youtube unless someone else can top this. I have tried to copy this myself for 6 years and never came this close. Super duper well done. Comments on guitar are terrible those people have nothing positive to say. Are you using number 9 strings ? Those flex easily under your hands. Great Job !!!!

  • u made it ur own.thats what stevie ray did.

  • Usually the beat up strats are played by mediocre guitar players who want to look like they have talent and passion, although this is not the case when it's put in your hands! Very nice video, your guitar has great tone! I love it! SRV would be proud.

  • nice i like it

  • great tone my friend, great vibrato

  • Man good job bro wish I could pick like that...

  • Freaking great...love the ugly guitar..

  • love the sound!

  • God DAMN that guitar is hot! Is that natural weathering or a custom job?

  • Nice!

  • great playin....

  • poor

  • the noise you make at 0:21 when you slide down ive heard stevie do this and i can't do it is there a specific way of doing that or was it an accident

  • Excellent playing but I think you should indicate that it is a cover in the title.

  • great!!!

  • I thought this was great! Your tone is fantastic and there's nothing more beautiful than an old battle-scarred franken-strat. I'm currently working my way through honey bee and probably gonna tackle this one next. Great playing. Keep it up.

  • Hey, I have a question. Where did you get that tortoise pickguard? I like the red tones it has. Very nice playing as well.

  • Excellent touch, phrasing, and technique; great job!

  • disgusting. incredible tone, great job!

  • @BerkeleyJones8 What the heck?

  • What can I say what hasn't already been said.

Love your playing man, lot's of feeling, great tone.

    Keep it up.

  • Great tone man. Just lay back a little and dont be in such a hurry, and you'll nail it! Great way to pay respect, is to give a little back like this. Nice -

  • illl chops brother...u got srv dancin in his grave!!!!!!

  • What kind of pickups, and amp are you using?

  • @RubyTuesday93 Hi, there, I think the pups are quite ordinary ones: they're ceramic mighty mites - but they sound dead hot! As for the amp, I have to be honest in saying that it's not going through anything. I just put the guitar into a 7 Watt amp and ran that out through my Marshall half cab speakers. I think the small valve amp helped to crank up the sound in some mysterious way. I hope this helps?

  • @redmansounds yes that sounds correct... it is not only a fairy tale that guitar amps should be drive at full power to get THAT sound. Ask Ted Nugent or the engineers who have recorded him. ;-)

  • and there is a story that Brian May (and Producer Mack) used an laundry Iron as a Resistor to make the amp cry while Queen recorded in Munich "Musicland".

  • scratching the fuck out of a guitar to make it look like its been played for years and years is just fucking gay, obviously you can play, i just think the guitar sucks.

  • @ifimlyinimbryan did it occur to you that maybe the guitar really did get that way? I don't personally know about this guy's, but Fender is very popular with people who like to take pieces of different guitars together to get the sound and playability they want. Diff necks, especially. Most good players I know prefer their beat-up strats...Maybe that's why they're beat up? Think about it dude, ease up. At least it's not some crappy-sounding shiny Jackson

  • @jotacalvo thanks, im now dumber for having read your comment.

  • @ifimlyinimbryan is that possible?

  • Hey Man, I thought you did a great job with it. I play bass and I love playing bluesy jams like this one. Nice job.

  • Sounds awesome!

what strat pickups are you using? are you also using a drive pedal or just the dirt channel of the amp? what pedal? what amp?

  • this is awesome!!

  • You need to finish sanding that guitar buddy. Serious splinter danger there, come on- be sensible.

  • I think it's Elmore James, not Albert King.

  • not bad.

  • what excersises or techniques help you reach that speed??

  • well done sir!

  • If that was you messing up this song, I would love to be able to mess up a song the same way. Awesome playing.Really liked it.

  • Very cool.

  • dat dere light strings

  • sick but i think those licks would sound much better on the neck pup

  • @VodooGuitarist Nop ! Steevie's playing them on bridge and half-birdge. This way, they sound way more cutting, like in the sound.

  • Pretty good playing my friend. What amp and/or effects are you running through?

  • Pretty nice playing. Not completely SRV style, I´d say. Some Johnny Winter in there too. But what the ???? did you do to that perfectly good guitar?

  • You make the same mistake as everybody else playing this song.. You don't bend the first note fast enough!

    great playing othterwise

  • @phil862007 are you high? not much feeling in stevies music?

and redman-sounds good man. could be recording lag or something but it sounded like you got off rhythm at a couple points, and a little more spacing (thats a matter of taste more than inability) between the long riffs. haha just chiming in with my two cents because the internet allows me to! keep up the good stuff!

  • I like srv but his music always sounded a lil sanitised to me not much feeling really. . . . . .

  • NIce playing. Good tone too.

  • gotta love the pentatonic lol

  • redman you sounds good man

  • great guitar....great skills... and a heck of a song stevie ray was and still is one of the best guitarists ever!!

  • Playin the shit out of that strat man! Very beautiful sound and as for the "Me completely messing up" comment, shut up lmao this is very well done.

  • Super super super:):) pozdrawiam MrElvis2

  • Fantastic!

  • hey, bro, ~ no apology required !! ~ your bends and feel are quite impressive ! ~ lil' mike , peoria, IL.

  • You kept me watching. Good job :D Trying to play like you :)

I'm doing my homework and I'm trying to focus but... You sound amazing XD

  • that one looks like my son $25 bucks guitas he got on Ebay.

but he has good one too

    and You are awesome!

    all that blues! wow

  • good job man and i love your guitar

    nice sound

    and i love relics :)

  • you didnt mess anything up...you made it your own...solid playing man

  • Wtf...fuck you lol that is a damn good cover. Better than I could even begin to play.

  • your ability to recognize proper pitch is amazing. those vibratos and bends do your ear abilities justice man. great shit

  • how long did it take you to play like that?

  • fukcing amazing man i only wish id be able to play like that soon

  • Don't know what you apologized for, that was nice!

  • The ORIGINAL version of this song is by Elmore James

  • Really, really nice version. You should give yourself more credit because you definately deserve it.

  • You didn't mess up nothing my friend....good job you were feelin' it...you gave me the blues!

  • Kick ass man, very inspiring

  • Dude, U done good. Period.

  • I love the relic looking strats but that pickgaurd just doesn't work

  • awesome sound. im working slowy towards these sort of licks..any suggestions?..great all the way around..beautiful guitar..'59 rep..by any chance?..

  • @thefixer5 Hi, thanks for your kind words. Suggestions? You can't go wrong listening to and playing along with the old masters like Buddy Guy, Freddie King, BB and Otis Rush. Also, get used to the pentatonic scales, but also learn to utilise the box positions that come off those. Lastly, be sure to do exercises on the neck that will promote the strengthening of your fingers, like double note bends and tough stretches; learn to push yourself so that you improve rapidly. Kind Regards, Red x

  • @redmansounds Very good SVR style blues. You nailed it. I like that beat up looking Strat too. SVR's main guitar the times I saw him was a beat up road worn Strat. I remember seeing Albert King in Winston-Salem and he had a worn out Gibson Flying V that sounded great. And Dickey Betts in the early 80's at the Coffee Pot in Roanoke, Va did a couple of blues tunes real good with an old beat up Les Paul Goldtop. I noticed Betts had a real good single finger vibrato and did cool blues rake lick.

  • @thefixer5

If possible 2 to 4 hours a day just running the scales and strengthening your fingers and listening to nothing but blues all styles even Jimi Hendrix will help tremendously. I run scales from beginning to end forwards and backwards if I mes up I start over until I can go all the way through forward and backwards without messing up and work on clarity.

  • Sounds great!

  • Proud to giye you your 60th rating Red!

Fantastic blues guitar man,why are you not famous mate?

I'm sure I commented on this before!

  • KICK AZZ

    Nicely done.

  • Hi. I was just curious to what you were running your guitar through. I just can not get my strat to bust out that ballsy tone like that.

  • Hi, I have to be honest in saying that it's not going through anything. I just put the guitar into a 7 Watt amp and ran that out through my Marshall half cab speakers. I think the small valve amp helped to crank up the sound in some mysterious way.

  • @redmansounds sounds good man your quick, i can tell you have some clapton in there so thats cool, a little bit brittish blues sound with texas twist

  • nice job dude!

  • Nice Fender. Love tht SRV vibrato :)

  • Great job =D

  • Hi Red...Enjoyed it again, great !!!

Have a nice weekend, my friend,

    your buddy Kurt ;-)))

  • Hi, Kurt, thanks, bro' - Great to hear from you. Thanks for popping by. Love, Red.

  • Bravo Maestro v_v

  • I love that tone. It's slightly Clapton-esque.

  • Kudos

  • well done

  • Most outstanding! Gtta love stevie, he (and clapton) completely revived blues. His guitar playing changed my life and I'm 13. If only the rest of todays generation would take a look back in time to the masters of music. P.S. I love how your guitar looks all beaten up, how long have you had it?

  • Man this is awesome! I think you live off of interstate rock that merges on to Blues street!

  • Great Job! There is a lot of tallent there.

  • TOTALLY AMAZING. BUT...... Can you (or could you live his life?).

What I mean is you are a perfect copy of a technique (and you must also be an amazing player in your own righ)... but would you (if you had the chance) swap his mife for yous?

Please reple to me its just a question

  • Good question: probably not. But, saying that, my life's been no bed of roses either. I think those drawn to the blues come from all walks of life but are united by the same common theme, being downtrodden and dragged through the mire...I know that's where my muse comes from...! Peace, Red x

  • @redmansounds you;re an AMAZING guitarist tho. phew! I play a little blues, please check out my channel and see the videos uploaded. Hope you like them. Tho they are nothing as acomplished as your own. Much love. CR

  • What is the backing track from?

  • Friken awesome.

It's like SRV but with a slightly different unique tone. I actually like your tone better. A bit more compressed and a bit more balanced note.

Again, amazing stuff. So much soul.

  • Woh! I'm really humbled by your words, thank you for such kindness. Peace, Red x

  • You're the man !

  • nice man !!!! and nice guitar lol i was thinking about doin that to my older strat.

  • Dude, you are awesome, keep rockin

  • Beautiful tone and technique. Most importantly, It rocks.

  • Dude, you had the hair on my arm standing up. I'm an old guy from Austin and been around the SRV seen my whole life and like someone earlier said, he would be proud. Keep it up.

  • Wow, that's very humbling...Thank you for such kind and generous praise, thank you...

  • Damn! This man is Finger Lightning!

  • I've only listened a couple of times to SRV, I'd say this was him if I didn't knew better. :P

  • Great cover, iv played for 45 yes now, how do you get your tone , sounded great

  • Yo man, you got nothin' to apologize for. You play what's inside you. This totally rocks.

  • Hey Man! You really moved me tonight. Keep'em coming. Do you know how good you are !!? Thanks.

Elmore, Jimi, Albert and last but NOT least SRV would praise you.
