He has been fairly consistent at safety in my opinion. Hes not getting 10 picks a year or consistently laying guys out over the middle but hes a sure tackler who does his job. He's not a total game changer like Palomalu or Seat Taylor but he gets the job done nicely
He was only drafted by the Raiders because Al Davis loves speed. Huff posted one of the fastest 40 times for his draft class. Maybe if he was drafted by a different team that has a better Def Co-ord, he could live up to his full potential.
Are you referring to Nnamdi being shy of contact? Cause if you watch Nnamdi play he loves to tackle. His actually a good tackling CB in the league. hard worker?? NOPE. he was caught before this year in a picture with him and a bunch of other shirtless guys drinking...just read his recent interview about being benched...he doesnt really seem to care. he just said "open field tackling is harder than i thought it would be."
he is good but the problem is that a top ten pick safety is expected to come up REAL big in terms of impact plays (ints, ff etc.). 90 tackles is good but there are 4th round draft pick run stopping safeties who can get many tackles, Huff needs to start making big plays. Don't get me wrong though, I love the guy and I'm confident he'll do well in the future.

It's called wrapping up he holds onto the guy with his arms you hit with your shoulder, wrap up and hold. He's good and I wish i could pick like him but I don't wish I could tackle like him because I can tackle better.
Very, very poor tackling technique only a couple good hits at the ankles. But he forced a few fumbles and also got a lot of interceptions.All in all he just needs work on his tackling.
Deionsanders37, I never compared him to Lott in playing ability, I compared the way their NFL careers started. Lott was and is still the best DB to ever play the game but coming out of college he had experience everywhere in the secondary which Huff has to. Huff isn't going to be the next Lott, who knows he may even become a bust but their careers started in a similar way.
Gotta make some points here: First of, he's nowhere near being the next R. Lott (it's unfair to compare anyone to Lott though). 2nd, a DB (I play FS myself) only has one job: bring the guy down, picture perfect tackles don't mean anything, so stop critizing any DB for "not tackling right". And 3rd, Huff will be real good, but not nearly as good as Woodson in his first 4 years with the Raiders (watch some film on #24, you'll know what I mean).
he arm tackles but once he has his arms on you, youre going down, he has only been run over by two people, Lendale White and Adrian Peterson, but he got back on white on that 4th and 2, other than those two times he never misses

he is good but the problem is that a top ten pick safety is expected to come up REAL big in terms of impact plays (ints, ff etc.). 90 tackles is good but there are 4th round draft pick run stopping safeties who can get many tackles, Huff needs to start making big plays. Don't get me wrong though, I love the guy and I'm confident he'll do well in the future.

CHeck it, I was sitting here high right, watching this video.
And I noticed his progression throughout this highlight. You can tell he got faster and was attacking the football. THe NFL seems to no what to do with these kids and coach em up to be good players.

He is very underrated because he is all the game man-on-man with the TE, so he can't make many plays.
But he is a very good cover Safety, just check the stats from Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez when they play the Raiders.
He's gonna play FS in 2008.

huff is the best coverage safety he covers the best tightends and hes always in man to man in the raiders defense thats why he cant jump routs or get big hits.. ints is a stupid way of showing how good a safety he is!

yup... that 06 NC team had one of the best secondaries I have ever seen: Cedric Griffin CB, Tarell Brown CB, Aaron Ross CB, S Michael Griffin, S Michael Huff... two Thorpe award winners and the others we're all at least 1st team All-Big 12.

It's called wrapping up he holds onto the guy with his arms you hit with your shoulder, wrap up and hold. He's good and I wish i could pick like him but I don't wish I could tackle like him because I can tackle better.

Very, very poor tackling technique only a couple good hits at the ankles. But he forced a few fumbles and also got a lot of interceptions.All in all he just needs work on his tackling.

Deionsanders37, I never compared him to Lott in playing ability, I compared the way their NFL careers started. Lott was and is still the best DB to ever play the game but coming out of college he had experience everywhere in the secondary which Huff has to. Huff isn't going to be the next Lott, who knows he may even become a bust but their careers started in a similar way.

Gotta make some points here: First of, he's nowhere near being the next R. Lott (it's unfair to compare anyone to Lott though). 2nd, a DB (I play FS myself) only has one job: bring the guy down, picture perfect tackles don't mean anything, so stop critizing any DB for "not tackling right". And 3rd, Huff will be real good, but not nearly as good as Woodson in his first 4 years with the Raiders (watch some film on #24, you'll know what I mean).

he arm tackles but once he has his arms on you, youre going down, he has only been run over by two people, Lendale White and Adrian Peterson, but he got back on white on that 4th and 2, other than those two times he never misses
but his biggest upside is he is always always always always in position, he is the mental leader of the defense, the field general, he makes the audibles and calls on the field, he has a great football mind

Oh dang....I thought Michael Huff might be pretty good cuz of his speed....but after seeing this vid i'm not so sure any more.... He is a BIG arm tackler... and arm tackling doesn't really work for the NFL...those huge guys...They'll just run him over.... Hopefully he does good tho...and hopefully we didnt' waste our pick -_-...again...

Actually he doesn't really seem to hit anyone. He grabs them very high on the shoulders and drags them down. That's very bad for a would-be NFL player. Hope he can make the adjustment.

This guy is gonna be great. His career has started like Ronnie Lott. Team's DBs are just plain bad(with the exception of Fabian Washington) but he and Darnell Bing should tunr things around.
