Hello I need help which one has the best gear the Qosmio X505 and asus g73jh-A3, which ever has the most powerful gear(I don't care about battery life) also I would like to know if either one can get 3D.

This laptop is meant as a replacement for a Desktop and especially for Gamers! It comes retail in many configurations, including a $1299 version at Best Buy! It just so happens that XoticPC.Com is the first of its kind to offer customization of this laptop. Who cares how much this weighs when it is replacing carrying around a desktop to Lan Parties etc. I kind of miss the fancy blue LEDs on the lid but this is still an awesome laptop. I hope this helps. im getting confused cos some of my friends say that u cannot replace the GPU after purchase while some say u can. Im planning to get this laptop so i just want to know, can i replace the GPU after purchase e.g. change the 5870m to a 480GTXm

@WokInABoxAkaYesner 480GTX consumes 50W more power than the ati, is more heating, while is only 10-15% stronger that 5870. I would not change.

I was planning on getting an Alienware M17x, but i've come across this and it looks quite similar. Does anyone know the overall cost and if you can customize it? and can anyone tell me if it would be a wiser choice to buy this instead of the M17x ?

I was planning to do the same thing, so I created a similar laptop to this one with the customize laptop feature. I ended up with a pricetag of 1650 british pounds, which is almost 600 pounds more expensive than this laptop. You would think the laptop parts of alienware might be of better quality ? nope, spoke to a dell representative, they use the same parts in their XPS version as in their alienware ( the XPS is considerably cheaper) so I'd say go for this one :).

There was a BOIS problem with Asus laptops. Something to do with evaluation copy of a BIOS. (type on google "Asus BIOS Evaluation Copy"). Please let me know if they still have have this problem even in G73s. It was there in G51s

@kingfullmetal you cannot put or upgrade laptops you can only get better ram when you choose to buy. also you can look at Mhz (speed of ram..higher, the better...these G73JH laptops mostly have 1066 memory, but they have 8 gigabyte, which makes up for the speed)

i am not a laptop expert, but if you want more advice you can ask more questions

This is a gaming laptop, therefor a blue-tooth mouse would be trash (less precise and more latency).

I love how the front of this laptop looks and the specs are just wow, But I hate that they added the extended vent slots, it makes it look ugly, and more alienware like... Asus actually came very close to making a beautiful laptop, unlike all other ugly models.... Its a shame it doesnt carry 1200p resolution
