@Rektek23 The omelets taste like egg flavored, damp cardboard. They are none too pleasant, I hated getting screwed with those during basic. It takes about 3 little bottles of tobasco to drown out the nasty. But the bread and jam that comes with the Omelette MRE is alomst the best side-dish/dessert.

When I was still in the Army, they were giving boxes of these away. Once they get a certain age, they will either give them away or throw them out. Despite being a ration, they still have a shelf life, respectively.
Just so you know the filter's on the Finnish gas mask have 60mm thread's while the M-40 mask has 40mm threaded filter's but you can buy a 40mm adapter for the Finnish mask.
Great video. Some other options on food items are eat like poor people ie beans and rice. Rice does not even have to be heated just soak it in water if fire is not an option at the time. Beans can be cooked or sprouted although it takes a few days this provides greens rich in vitamins and etc. Instant oatmeal is a great pack food as are dry roasted nuts, raisins and other dried fruits and trail mix. Just some ideas that are cheaper and taste bettter than MRE's Thanks for the great video
I got the idea about the oatmeal from an issue of Backwoodsman Magazine. It works as a stable food or just alittle pick-me-up on the trail. It is almost always packaged with some sugar. If you havent already, pick you up a copy of the Backwoodsman I think you will enjoy it. Great to hear from you my friend and keep your powder dry.
Oh yea, I forgot you have Military Experince with these MREs, I found that the Tebasco saves my tastebuds from utter destruction by the crappy "Wheat Bread" they put in those things... ITS NOT BREAD, ITS PASTE THAT IS COMPRESSED, AND DRIED!

The State of Missouri lets you shoot a deer with ANY center fire cartridge, including a .22, believe it or not. I used to have a .22 mag that could drop a deer with a well placed shot. A good weapon of choice, considering.
Thanks for sharing for the good of the group. A .22 mag is a very usable deer caliber. A .22 LR right into the eye or behind the ear will drop it flat.

great vid! always appreciate the work! even disregarding the political unrest scenario, you have a system for a possible natural disaster event. it's about preparation in the end. also if rule of law is compromised the legality of hunting with whatever hardware you have available is hardly going to concern a person in a survival situation.
That's EXACTLY what i was told in Basic Training. . .sometimes it's not a bad thing though. . .in combat or "intense" situations it's not very pleasant having to either drop your pants when the bullets are flying or just pinch it off while running. . .trust me!!
Anyway, when you consider that MRE's have to be able to windstand up to 70ºF (I think) during three years without perishing, of course, you have to prep the food in a way that despite all your efforts, it won't taste very good.
By the way, I recently saw at the CNN how they were offering MRE's to people that couldn't afford to buy their food in New York. This also serves as an example of how useful the MRE's are, serving soldiers, civilian's or the humanitarian.

Something you should have pointed out is that MREs are not meant for long term food storage, you will have to rotate them in some way.
Here is a chart that will tell you how long you can store them at what conditions you will need to store them in.

Beef jerky is also very nice to have.

Shouldn't liberals be very liberal and generally very tolerant for all, including the private ownership of all kind of firearms?
Sometimes being a "liberal" seems more like being a communist or something else not-so-democratic, and freedom doesn't seem to belong to their agenda.
And this is not just only the US but all western countries. The western culture has been corrupted and slightly becoming something else than it used to be.

I must say...I am a so-called "Liberal Democrat", and a big myth is that we don't believe in the 2nd Amendement, I do. Your video's are great, and are a great starting point for people who don't have a grasp as to what can happen and why they should be prepared just in case, However, I don't sit there worrying about when "they will come and get me". But these are reasonable, well thought out, and explained tips. I do hope that we will never need them. Good job buddy!

The State of Missouri lets you shoot a deer with ANY center fire cartridge, including a .22, believe it or not. I used to have a .22 mag that could drop a deer with a well placed shot. A good weapon of choice, considering.

Thanks for sharing for the good of the group. A .22 mag is a very usable deer caliber. A .22 LR right into the eye or behind the ear will drop it flat.

Dang right, You could carry 1000's of rounds of .22 as opposed to other calibers. Well placed shots with a .22 are dealy, not to mention great on game.

great vid! always appreciate the work! even disregarding the political unrest scenario, you have a system for a possible natural disaster event. it's about preparation in the end. also if rule of law is compromised the legality of hunting with whatever hardware you have available is hardly going to concern a person in a survival situation.

That's EXACTLY what i was told in Basic Training. . .sometimes it's not a bad thing though. . .in combat or "intense" situations it's not very pleasant having to either drop your pants when the bullets are flying or just pinch it off while running. . .trust me!!

Anyway, when you consider that MRE's have to be able to windstand up to 70ºF (I think) during three years without perishing, of course, you have to prep the food in a way that despite all your efforts, it won't taste very good.
By the way, I recently saw at the CNN how they were offering MRE's to people that couldn't afford to buy their food in New York. This also serves as an example of how useful the MRE's are, serving soldiers, civilian's or the humanitarian.
