I think this is backwards. The only way to eliminate poverty is to dramatically lower consumption in the first & developing world, while simultaneously returning civilization to a more ecologically responsible model.
The ecosystem simply could not sustain 6 billion people rising out of poverty. It cannot even sustain 1 billion living in affluence.
I said no such thing. Please don't project, or put words into my mouth.
As I stated: the ecosystem cannot EVEN sustain 1 billion living in affluence.
This does not mean that I endorse such a lifestyle, instead I am acknowledging the impracticality of 1st world affluence.
I do not "let" anyone be anything, nor do you.
