  • hey man a lot of your swing flaws you cant pick up from this view, but i would recommend going to the best pga pro in your area... someone who is known to work with really good players, and just trust the information he is giving you and committ to a process. just looking at your swing and thinking you can do it all yourself or listening to all the retards trying to give you advice about your swing in the comments is a bad idea.. most have no idea what they are talking about. good luck

  • you need a lesson no matter how much people tell you whats right you need to be shown so you can feel the correct movement you have all sorts of problems going off and need a rebuild, i think 6 months hard work with a good swing coach youll have a good swing blue print

  • Looking at the video I think you would be better off standing infront of a mirror for 15 hours a week rather than hitting golf balls, I would work on each area of the swing slowly and in 2 months time try put the whole thing together, again infront of the mirror,

  • #1 start with your shoulders your knees and the balls of your feet all on the same vertical axis, because right now your leaned out on your toes.

grip is way to strong, try having the v's of your hand point at your chin.

#3 get the face rolling open on the backswing take it more upright because you are taking it way inside, and then your getting stuck at impact with your right arm lower than your left and you try to slam the release which causes your hook. because your trying to avoid the block

  • I agree with Spinetilt. I'm learning my OPS from Jim, but have been watching Scott McCaron videos. Scott said something profound that I didn't get from the videos and book. Scott said you must get left arm tightly across the chest at takeaway, backswing, and especially on the downswing. Start ds with Shoulders and left arm staying connected w/ chest at start of ds. This will put the right arm in perfect position to release at the bottom of swing arch. Focus of left arm at ds.

  • Looks to me like you're hooking it because your hips are moving back too much during the backswing. Therefore, your hips are too closed at impact. For the OPS backswing, the hips should only turn a little while the shoulders turn a lot.

  • your hitting those irons left not because your coming over the top. Thats nonsense. You should try to come over the top more. Your left arm needs to be closer to your body on the way to the ball. There is to much seperation. It's a wonder those drives did not dive to the left. And put a little more weight on the front part of your left foot.

  • Interesting point. Any suggestions on how to accomplish what you suggest? I kind of gave up this swing because I could never hit it straight consistently. Roll my left arm across my chest on D/S?

  • Comment removed

  • start the d/s with the shoulders going out over the ball (over the top fell but you have to keep your spine angle or maybe even increase it) then pull your left arm down and across your bellybutton. at impact you will be rolling your wrist trying to hook it. this motion seemst to make the right forearm work in a throwing motion (check in slowmotion with a mirror at home). i have to think of the left arm ,thinking of the right arm does not work for me.

  • Ok. Thanks. I'll give it a try and see what happens. appreciate it.

  • Well, your comments have caused me to give the old OPS a try. I tried "rolling" my arm down using the same swing you see in the video, and it really worked well. I still hooked a few, but interestingly was hitting some blocks to the right now. Lol. There has to be a "middle of the road" solution here. Maybe I'll post another swing soon. Thanks for your help.

  • @lonestartester this makes no sense

  • @spinetilt just watching the swing not bad only problem I see is weight is on your toes thats why its going left . This causes you to fall forward on the back swing and backwards on the downswing ball left get your weight over your ankles feel solid

  • Focus on letting the left shoulder be the first thing that leads you down, and make sure you dont let it cut across across the body. Let It travel in a circle starting to the outside, so you wont cut across. The direction of the shoulder coming down will determine the direction of your shot. Make sure it starts in a circle starting out (toward right field perhaps) (also maybe think hands stay behind the shoulder) and since it is a circle, you will still finish the way they recommend.

  • i am talking about just the downswing, when talking about the shoulder leading you down in my post below. ON the backswing, you looked fine I think. On the backswing, just think about trying to reach both of your hands in your back pocket. (it is impossible to do so, or even get close to that, but the idea of trying to do so works) Then try my tip about the shoulder leading the downswing toward right field in a circle so you dont cut across with it. Shots s/be perfectly straight then.

  • @lonestartester something people lose sight of is the simple fact that the clubface tends to follow where the path points it. in other words, if the face is looking left, producing a hook or pull, chances are that the path is pointing it there... if you were hitting large hooks that started to the right of your intended target, i'd be worried about plane, but it appears that this isn't the case here. I think you should practice swinging to right field and have the ball curve back to the target.

  • @lonestartester wow you are way off

  • Came across your video and was curious about why you are pursuing a "one-plane" swing.

    TMO

  • I started golfing about five years ago at the age of 31. Tried to use "traditional" PGA-style swing with minimal success. Just couldn't get it. Kept cutting across the ball no matter how much I "turned my hips." The One Plane Swing was something I could conceptualize. There were specific measurements that I could check throughout the swing. I don't swing this way anymore, however. I kept falling forward from trying to bend over all the time. Felt like I was a prison bitch.

  • I've 'morphed' into somewhat of a stack/tilt with weight-shift and a full release. God help me : ) Kind of a Mike Austin gone stack and tilt combo, if you know what I mean.

  • well id loosen up -- finish up that back swing -- and your club face is closed at adress which is why its hooking sometimes -- i like the idea though, it looks consistant if you get that club face square

  • awesome! lake street driving range!

  • Ha. Yeah, good old Green Valley in Jan '08. Can't hit balls today though! (-15 right now.)

  • nice one plane swing man. ur on the right track

  • Thank you.

  • swing looks good looks like your coming slightly over the top on your downswing pushing those iron shots to the left focus on coming from the inside and you should have a consistent golf swing

  • @Mawsonau wrong

  • looks like you hit hook or pull shots with the occasional straight shots. I would highly recommend shorting the backswing. Look up Tommy Armour iii on here. He has a powerful short swing and look at how compact his swing is and that should work wonders for you and most one-planners.

  • you´re almost falling down into the ball, keep the weight in the balls of your feet, you´ll feel a bit like sitting but you´ll stop pulling and cutting the ball. The plain looks good

  • Thank you for posting your videos. Your address position looks great,as does your swing. You are obviously getting very close to the desired one-plane swing. Keep up the good work and keep posting your swing videos!
