  • I am an east end parent who WANTS OUR SCHOOLS TO BE COMPLETELY INTEGRATED. And I'm supporting measure E because underfunding ANY school and overcrowding ANY classroom - west, east, north, or south - is counterproductive. How does dropping after school sports serve our students? How does dropping art and music level the educational playing field? How does firing beloved teachers improve learning? MEASURE E SUPPORTS ALL SCHOOLS ACROSS ALAMEDA, not just those on the east end.

  • @jboeger This Measure E will trigger some sort of Complex of superiority vs inferiority. For example, hey Pal, my kids are now learning at Alameda High! (proud like a rooster). Meanwhile, on the pro measure E camp they put on YouTube a statement saying that East is 70% white, parent/guardian are more wealthier than West, etc... that's the racism embryo.

In fact, AUSD has to find another way to resolve the problem, not by taxation on existing business companies.

  • @AnahoDS I agree that this is not fair to businesses. And I very much resent that this parcel tax is needed. But trying to keep your own neighborhood schools open does not make you a racist. This is a bullshit argument. Argue w/ your pocketbook, that's acceptable but the racism argument is a load.

I guess you think it will be good for Alameda when every middleschooler has to be schlepped to the west end at the same time?

  • @AnahoDS "Meanwhile, on the pro measure E camp they put on YouTube a statement saying that East is 70% white"

That video that you refer to is obviously a hoax created by the "No on E" camp to stir the pot. Same with the "It's For My Children" one. How anyone can mistake those as authentic Yes ads is beyond me.

  • This video is so stupid. Measure E is nothing more than a way for the affluent East side parents to segregate their kids from the poor West and Central Alameda kids. During this recession, I can think of better ways to spend my tax dollars. Vote no on Susan Davis's Measure E campaign.

  • @Justusman72 My kids go to a central Alameda school, so your comment is a miss. Who is Susan Davis?

  • @jboeger Susan Davis is one of the leaders in the pro-Measure E movement. Measure E is designed to reduce the consolidation on schools. The schools on the East side have a significantly lower student to teacher ratio than the central Alameda and western Alameda schools. See Alamedans For Fair Taxation.

  • @Justusman72 That is not true. The ratios are the same.

  • @jboeger That is not correct. East side schools are smaller than west side schools.

  • @Justusman72 So they have less classrooms, not less students per teacher. It's 20:1 for K-3 for all of Alameda. If you believe otherwise, please show me why.

  • @jboeger The ratios are much higher for middle school. Your figures are incorrect.

  • Ridiculous video. Shows the mentality of AUSD.

  • Great! Let's Kids go freely to their schools whether East or West. We are not gonna to raise more tax in order to be able of keeping kids separate from East and West, it's non sense! in the long run this kind of madness, East and West localization, will be the root of racism between East and West from kids to parents/guardian over all Alameda.

That's racism embryo, thus against the US constitution.

We have to sue all the persons who are stupid enough to propose this ridiculous Measure E.

  • @AnahoDS I agree that AUSD should do some consolidation, but the racism argument? eh, pull the other one.
