To see Aragorn laid to rest as an old man always gets to me. Every one of us knows that our time will come as time passes, but it seems so far away that it's hard to embrace, at least to me. I am now a 20 years old, but I still consider myself as a boy, and I can't picture myself as an 80 year old fragile man who has a hard time walking for only a small distance. I always think of the wise words of Gandalf. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us".
"..And there will be no comfort for you,no comfort to ease the pain of his passing,he will come to death - an image of splendor of the kings of men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.
But you,my daughter..you will linger on in darkness and doubt as nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Here you will dwell, bound to your grief, under the fading trees, until all the world has changed and the longer years of your life are utterly spent.."
this is the most darkly gorgeous and sorrowful scene in the film, the imagery used is beyond gorgeous there are no words to describe it just pure- nostalgia.
I get the chills when I hear this song and every song of LOTR, and when I look at that video picture I'm in another world, the middle earth, these songs, the movies, the books, the art, the characters, the nature, everything of Middle Earth, they really make you believe that Middle Earth is real, and I like that feeling, I feel so driven away from my planet Earth, It's so real!
This scene is one of the best I've ever seen in the cinema. It's so moody yet so beautiful. The words. The imagery. Her expression. The soundtrack. Perfection! BRAVO!
@directorlog and according to lore, they live together for more than 100 years, nearly 200, than Aragorn dies at the age of 210, shortly after which she gives up her, now mortal life, for she gave up her immortality when she chose to stay with Aragorn, she dies at little less than 3000 years, in Middle-Earth, and does not sail across the sea, to Valinor, the Undying Lands, as most elves do...undoubtedly, it is most likely the best movie ever to be made
@sylvanitoo but besides the movie, there is so much more to the story of and around Middle-Earth and it's 'inhabitants' within the books that Tolkien has written during his life...I myself, and maybe there can be few who would contest this, consider it to be , probably, the greatest and most complete fictional world ever to be created...the lore, the history of that world, the races and languages they speak...it is so complete that it's close to real...and all that was created by one person...
@directorlog there is a book, around 400 pages, that was released long after LoTR, by Tolkien's son, written mostly by J.R.R. Tolkien and partly completed by his son, the book is called Silmarillion, it has 4 main chapters talking about events beginning with the creation and continues through the First, Second and Third Age and dwells into the Fourth Age as well...I'm not sure if the post-LoTR info i posted previously appears in The Silmarillion or in another work of Tolkien's, I wikied it :)
Hands down the most beautiful scene I've ever seen in a movie. And usually those judgements aren't easy to make. I can't explain it but there's something about this scene that takes one's breath away.
I am pretty sure that if anyone was in Arwen's situation we all would have made the choice, the choice to be with one that we loved. Even if it was for a short time, as in Arwen's case, it "truly would have been better to love, than not to have loved at all." Wow, when you really think about it, it was a pretty tough choice to make. This is a beautiful scene, and I think that this scene and the scene where Arwen is wearing the light purple gown have to be the most epic scenes in modern cinema.
I must say this was the sadest part of the trilogy Elrond basically told her what her life was going to be like in a minute if she stayed with aragorn and what it would be like if she traveled to valinor she had a choice and i wonder if she made the right one
This scene makes me want to cry, especially with the music. The words that Elronds says are so strong. I feel like he's talking to me, lol. I feel so bad for Awren fot the decision she had to make, but I'm glad that in the movie she stayed with Aragon, bc I'm pretty sure she didn't want to be away from the one she loves. Aragon and Arwen r my fav.
fuck me, i was watching some old films today and i the two towers jsut caught my eye and i watched it. i watched this scene and holy shit the words are so strong i almost felt like crying. i might have to use these phrases in my english lessons =)
Actually very sadly, Arwen forsake her life in front of the mounds of Lorien one year after Aragon died, because Elf can die if they are so weary of the world.
i would think that the filmmakers wanted to elaborate on elrond's fears for arwen, because many years before this moment, his wife, celebrían, was captured by orcs and tortured. their sons, arwen's brothers, rescued the mother, but celebrían never recovered from the trauma and passed away from grief (for more details, see "silmarillion"). that makes sense why the filmmakers made elrond so overprotective of his daughter in this episode.
@BoxSide15563 no, when Aragorn died, she went back to Lothlorien and there she stayed until the next beginning of spring I think. Then she died and she was buried on a hill there I think.
LOTR is the best movie I've seen in my whole life, everything is so beautiful and amazing, you can really say that it is the eight wonder of the world , it is impossible to explain just how beautiful and powerful this scene is, like that incredibly beautiful music and a fantastic scene, what I'm trying to say is that LOTR is the best movie that ever existed, Tolkien was a genius! LOTR forever !!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
what i think is that...you are absolutely right!!...LOTR is by far the best movie ever made..has everything, history, beautiful places, music, many values. Love It! ...(not to mention the book) =D
Does anyone else ever get the feeling that your life is missing something, someone? That you are separated from them and have to go through this life alone? You meet people temporarily but they never fill that empty space. That is how I imagine anyone who loved like this scene and endured loss like in this scene would also feel.
i felt exactly like what you wrote........and it's the first time i cry listening a song......this song...........it's like an ancient message hide in this song, and something in my inner side have receive it.......i feel the weight of a million far existences and i realized i'm alone......but i'm happy because this song make me know that 's a lot more to do, to live, to learn......
Pure poetry
