I have searched for this for years. I heard it the first time in Los Angeles in the late 70's. When I relocated to Chicago no one had even heard of Yutaka Yokokuru. Another great artist that didn't get to the masses. Thank you for the post!!!!!
This reminds me of a really happy time in my life. Thank you for uploading it. I have no idea what happened to this album through my many moves, but I loved it. Very evocative of a particular time and place.
I also am looking for the CD...I have two original LP's as they appear in this video, one remains sealed, unopened, original....keeping it for ? So, if you have a CD (original, not copy) email me: coolwasabi@verizon.net
Wow!!! I worked at the small record store (Sound Masters) in Carson, CA that was the first to import this album to the States. I remember Yutaka visited and did an autograph signing....still have my album and autographed photo.
@mobetta1212 : Was that record store next to a grocery store? I used to live in Carson when this song came out. As a kid back then, I LOVED this sing!
I echo the remarks of the previous comments - This music takes me back to my teenage days listening and daydreaming to Yutaka's unique blend of jazz fusion. I LOVE THIS MUSIC! Thank you for the tremendous gift & the medicine for the soul.
OMG I love Yutaka, havent heard this in over 30 years. Someone stole my only album of this group back then and I have been searching for them since. I am so exicited right now I will probably never get to sleep tonight. This is just the best music- ever!!
This was originally released on a radio demo which I had. It was a great lp but virtually went unknown except for those tht were smart enough to get a copy. Never released on cassette or cd damn it. I sold my copy in error when I sold my 4,200 lp collectio to a S. Korean buyer. Angela Bofill did a wonderful cover of this song on one of her lps which is available at itunes or amazon..check it out! Thanks for posting this...one of my all time favorites.
I started out listening to his "East by South", which led me to another Yutaka song, that I hadn't heard in years, then another, and another . . . and now I'm here! I didn't even know this was a Yutaka song. I haven't heard this since the . . . I don't know when . . . maybe the early 80's????? I'm almost brought to tears hearing this again. What a treat to go back in time with this gem! Thanks for the post! :-)
Wow! Have'nt heard this tune in 20 years...but I started singing the chorus almost instantly.Beautiful song.I wish the knuckleheads over @ i-tunes would load Yutaka's library into the system.Thanx for posting.
Yeh!!!! I just read your info notes & I do have the Love Light album...collecting dust upstairs in my house! I've never had the equipment to transfer it. Now I'll be able to enjoy this in my home once I can download! You are blessed! You just made my entire year Smartnotes!
I am in heaven!!!!!! Used to listen to this "religiously" and am soooooo glad to have found this posting! Thank you Smartnotes! I agree with previous comment....he was never recognized as he should've been in U.S. Wish he'd record again! He was one of a kind!
Have loved this since high school. Had it on cassette only but never knew who made it until recently. Bravo to you for sharing it with us after all this time.
The early days of Jazz Fusion in Manila, yeah, these songs were great! I remember old hang-outs like Jazz Rythms-Jupiter,Greenhills,Timog also Birds of the Same Feather, Decades, 10 Years After, SanMig, Vincent's, WhistleStop, Bahia, 7 Pecados, Captain's Bar, The Admiral, Nipa Hut, Padi's Point, Eagle's Nest, Billboard, Tia Maria's, Larry's Bar, Bobby Magees, Reasons, Peps, Alibi Bar,Angelino's, Cafe J, Deane St., Alfredo's, Annabelle's Timog, Ciudad Fernandino :-) are they still around?
Always have loved Yutaka from back in the day..didn't get the proper attention in the US; hopefully Youtube can revive it...thanks for posting this rare gem!!
@hdshk Love Light was on the Alpha LP label. Most other cd's were released on the GRP label and I have most of the cd;s, even Love Light which cost me $50 and can't be found anymore.
Thanks not only for the hi-quality upload and MP3, but also for the 'SmartNote' information on Yutake's instrumentation and impact on music. Context is everything...especially with regards to music.
Thank you for posting this lost gem. I can recall hearing this for the first time when I was 18 and failed to buy it. It took me 27 years to find it again.
I Have To Blame The Label & Marketing Team For Not Spreading Yutaka Music To The Masses....Yutaka's Music Speaks To The Soul......
