I can't understand your concerns with the age rule cheating, if it isn't just the fear to be not as good as the chinese. The rule sucks and I can't understand why you insist in the fact that even if the rule sucks people must follow it. If a law forbids you to kiss your couple, would you follow it?
So, If China gets away with that, good for them. I wouldn't miss Jiang Yuyuan or He Kexin astounding performances for nothing in the world. Could you imagine gymnastics without Nadia,14 in Montreal?
If one person obeys the rules, whoever they are (American or Chinese), and another person breaks the rules, whoever they are, if the ONLY reason the win is because they broke the rules, they are not at all as good in character or in the sport as the person they "beat". If the US team included somebody possibly under 14, the Chinese government would have kicked them out just because they are desperate to give the West a false impression of greatness.
I know where you are coming from the underaged girls, but I do want to say something about that. I will be also mad if He Kexin takes Nastia Liukin's gold... =/
But it is not there fault so do not take it out on them... It's the government, so please don't look down on these Chinese girls. I mean really who wants to put that much pressure on a "14 year old"
Thank you so much for posting your videos. It really does help relieve some of the nervousness I have about Olympics. I want to see it on TV already. jejejeje...
By the way, how have you seen Chellsie? I am really saddened by what happened. Nonetheless, I am sure she will do an AWESOME job in the team finals. :)
Do you know how serious her injury was? What about Sam?
About Sam: She's from my state and they had a few interviews on the local news and she said that she doubted she could compete in team finals, but she would be rooting the team on. other than that, I do not know.
Hey, thanks for watching my video even though you didn't like it. You are welcome to watch any of my other vids or none of them at all! That's the point!
And at least we agree on the nutcracker music! Also, I wish I did know more about gymnastics. That's why I watch it, research it, and chat about it online. I am hoping to maybe start some kind of adult gymnastics class for fun soon!
By the way, is that you tumbling on your channel? Your skills are awesome, and it looks like so much fun!
Doesn't mean anything, i'm just saying because American gymnastics team are really good. I'm from Britain. But Friends is my fave American Comedy! Don't think i'm offending you, america is a gr8 place to go to/Live. i have been to florida and Pitsbourgh i dont knw how you spell it but ah well.
Oh, I wasn't offended, I just thought you were a foreigner equating the fact that an American gymnastic fell over with Christie being American and thinking that was a reason to scorn her. But you weren't, so it was just my misconception. It would be funny if somebody said to you "Are you British? Didn't they lose the Revolutionary War?" I say that because I'm British too, living in the US for 3.5 years now, and people are stupid like that sometimes. Lataz!
you got the american accent already? Whoa! That is weird, is it coz of your school that makes you talk different or can you try to still talk british. Which part of america do you live in?
Who said I have an American accent? I still sound English; I'm just saying that some people ask rhetorically sometimes and bring up the American Revolution... don't know where you got that I sound American. Anyway, I live near Asheville, North Carolina. But yes, I like to imitate any accent, including many different regional American and British accents.
Haha, what are you the champion of to say who knows about gymnastics? You clearly know enough to do it, which is awesome, but you won't be qualified to know what somebody knows until they either say something clearly incorrect or you become them. Unless of course the opinions she has that you disagree with are overridden by your sheer godhood dominating the feelings of all mortal fans of the sport. Good luck at your next competition... and the demi-god Olympics.
Well thought out insights. Well done! I completely agree about the obviously underaged Chinese-see how tiny they are now? In four years they'll be a foot taller. How many 16 year old girls close to their adult height grow over 8 inches in 4 years? Hmm. ;)
It's a tough one to call. Like I said, I'm trying not to dwell on it and just enjoy the Games, but it's kinda hard when you want the US women to win fair and square! It just gives them the opportunity to go out there and show the Chinese up anyway, though. But thanks for the comments!
Hi, here's some points to consider if it'll make you enjoy the Games more.
I'm Chinese Malaysian. While I look like my age, my 20 year-old sister looks 17. Plus, she's not even a gymnast which, if you have read, would know that gymnastics stunts growth. Furthermore, these girls have been in training since they were 3 or 4, day in day out. If you think about it like that, would it be so impossible that 16 year-olds would look like they're 14? Or 12 even?
The same goes for US gymnasts who trained for that long. Are there Chinese who look older or younger than they are? Of course. And are there Americans who look older or younger? Of course. In fact, I'd say that Shawn looks about 14 too. The difference is that everybody knows she is 16, and no US media hinted otherwise. Different builds have nothing to do with race. There are exceptions everywhere. The problem is level playing field; like or dislike the age rule, to become the best, play fair.
You can't possibly compare Caucasian to Asian women! The latter not only reach puberty later on (let alone when they're gymnasts!) but they look much younger too! Does Cheng Fei look 20?
Sorry, but the fact that they're tiny and that they don't look old enough is simply not convincing. And even if they were underage (which the may very well be), do you think that the Chinese wouldn't have found 6 eligible gymnasts talented enough to contend for gold?
Nobody significant thinks they are underage just because of how they look compared to Caucasians; that's what morons say. The real official problem is that even the Chinese media had said she was 14, then they changed their minds, the Chinese government wouldn't let any foreign media investigate it, and THEN they made her a passport that said she's 16. She looks 14 in relation to the other Chinese girls, but they all look about 2 years younger than they are; Cheng looks 18, Jiang and He about 12
The gymnast with the video camera was the only gymnast from Slovakia, Ivana Kovacova. I have no idea why they showed her so much, but I would guess she was feeling either because she was starstruck, because she wanted to remember everything about the experience or she was trying to steal moves!
IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies said Saturday that the matter is closed as far as it is concerned.
"To our understanding, both sides have cleaned up this matter and this question regarding the age," Davies said.
Chinese gymnasts generally look much younger than their actual age. The fact is, whether or not any of the gymnasts are under age is no longer up for discussion. The IOC has closed the case and it's time we just stop speculating and get on with enjoying the Olympics.
Oh He Kexin is DEFINITELY underage. She's the only one that I'm completely sure of.
Nothing will be done about it though because all of her documents have been updated so now there's no proof. So the investigation was a waste of time because China was a step ahead this time.
I just saw the American girls podium training and they did show a lot of the USA women so it was pretty good. I really hope Chellsie gets better in time to compete
Nastia looked absolutley gorgous and hit all of her routine with absolutly no falls.
Only thing is she wobbled on her side somi.
Shawn was particuarly boring to me and idk why. She was just boring. Like ive gotten over her gymnastics for some reason. And she struggld on her 3rd pass. Alicia looked good. Sam looked pretty good. Bridget did exceptionally well and looks like her floor routine is back in shape. Chellsi only did bars :[
the gymnast filming was Tina Erceg from Croatia and she is a huge fan of Cheng Fei.

your commentary sucks. It just shows how much you don't know about gymnastics. you basically just talk about nothing.
p.s.. the only "awful" thing besides the nutcracker music is that hat you're wearing

"In four years they'll be a foot taller"
Can you travel into the future? Have you seen how tiny Cheng Fei was in 2004 compared to what she is now?
"How many 16 year old girls close to their adult height grow over 8 inches in 4 years?"
Assuming they do grow a foot taller, then the answer is Chinese gymnastic girls.
