His voice tone sounds forced like he isn't that enthusiastic about the TSX V6. This is such a nice car, the materials used in the interior feel so cool!
Yea, but many are turned off by the new design of the TL, including me. I'd choose the v6 TSX over the TL myself, just a pity that the TSX still does not have SH-AWD or RWD.
all you have to do to an RDX to make it front wheel drive is take off its driveshaft. You could make the TSX a four wheel drive as well, just a couple of chassis adjustments, and reconfigure the rear suspension assembly, rip the TL SH-AWD system with a shorter driveshaft... nothing honda can't do.
Acura officials told a TOV writer that they have tried that as their original plan. They were trying the K23T with TSX for a while, but it never fit. So they opted for the J35 because it wasn't that much bigger than the K24.
a K23T would have been awesome. They need to start boosting the K20Z1's taht would be sick. Forge it a little bit and give it a modest 11psi with a T25 or 16G turbo and itll be sick!
11psi on a K20 is just plain nuts... the blocks of the k20z1/3 are good for over 500hp so that not the problem... obviously lower comp pistons would be best if ya want to aim at that 11psi mark... but at the current comp ration it's way too high for 11psi... i've seen the k20z3 make 370hp on 6psi... and that was a stock motor
Well, Acura has pretty much killed the purpose of the base TL with this one. If they knew they were gonna drop a V6 in the new TSX sooner or later, why didn't they go all out and make the TL into a real sports sedan on a RWD platform. Now they will have two sedans (the TSX V6 and base TL) competing with each other within their own lineup. It doesn't make much sense.
TL is front wheel drive (optional AWD available). The TL base model and TSX are almost the same car. Both FWD, both with 280 HP 3.5 Liter engine and both based on Accord chasis.
Yes. You are right. The USDM Accord is bigger than the Euro Accord. But, still they both are Accords. LOL. TSX and TL are officially both based off the Accord.
"Ironcopsticks" It can already compete with the 3 series. Well only the 328i/325i. An 328i bone stock meaning with stick cost more than a fully loaded TSX. A bone stock 328i has no HIDS, only halogen. You can't compete 335i with TSX, 335i is on a whole different level. A TSX with a 6speed can beat a 328i from 0-60. And in this passage, I'm talking about the first gen TSX. Not the slow second gen.
Personally I think the 3.5L V6 on the TSX is fail. Especially with only an automatic transmission as a option. Honda choose the 3.5L V6 over the Turbo Inline4 for the engine which is really stupid. This TSX version is basically a re badged accord. It didn't get sportier. The only sporty version of the TSX is the first gen. Second gen got bigger, and I doubt this 3.5L V6 would make it any faster. The V6 would add more weight, an Inline4 Turbo option would be faster, and more fuel efficient.
the grill notwithstanding, all this tsx needs is bi-xenon lights, LED taillights, SH-AWD, a manual transmission and near 50:50 weight dist... then it will compete with 3-series!
Acura is the upscale division of Honda, and it's usually more sporty, more luxurious, and more expensive. Americans are image-conscious people which necessitated a distinction from its more utilitarian image in Honda cars.
This is because the cars to much of a bloat to still keep a 4 clyinder competitive. Its also replacing the TL cause the TL is now 3800 lbs and has the 3.7L or will probably get some small V8 to go against the likes of the G8/Maxima/Avalon.

i just check the new V6 tsx its pretty much the same price as the TL
in that case people will choose the TL instead of the TSX if they are the same price

@martin20xx, the problem is that the TL is ugly now. I'd still take a V6 TSX over a TL just because it is so much better looking.
EvenSteven2004 2 years ago
wow whats the point of the base model TL now that theres a V6 tsx, I actually liked the tsx because it was a quick little four cylinder.
gtachild 2 years ago
the 4 cyclinder provides ample power and fuel economy
if you want more power and dont really care about the hit in fuel economy, by all means go for the v6
thats why there are two models, people have different needs
neither model is superior, it is how each person views the car and weighs its pros and cons
Eurovizija 2 years ago
i totally agree, you don't need a v6 in tsx. you already get 200hp with 4 cylinders

why are acuras ugly compared to infiniti and lexus?

davewhodavedunn 3 years ago
why is this front wheel drive? that seems like a design flaw with an engine this powerful.
PeterPW 3 years ago
Because it's safer, cheaper than a RWD, and because people want passing power on freeways, rather than a track day animal, and for that, FWD is fine.
cepnoi 3 years ago 9
Not necessarily, FWD exhibits negative driving characteristics such as torque steer and excessive understeer during hard cornering.
djmixmac 3 years ago
Why the hell didn't they put the K23 turbo from the RDX so they could run with the Evo's and STi's?
mugenman6 3 years ago
Because TSX is a front wheel drive car?

You could probably make a Ferrari out of a Honda. Nothing Honda can't do. :-P

your right about that... but what I like to call "pencil pushers" won't allow anything like that anytime soon, with the exception of the NSX.

which is why I said: "Forge it a little bit and give it a modest 11psi with a T25 or 16G turbo "

yes, but forging for the "rookies" on the web doesn't necessarily mean to lower the comp... I know what you meant...
i'm done with the turbo talk b/c i'm N/A all the way :)

Honda makes no RWD cars except S2000.

Aren't they based on different Accords though (TSX - on a European version, narrower and about 8 inches shorter)?

why don't you just buy a TL SH-AWD then it's almost the same thing...

I think they shouldve done more to keep the weight close to the 1.5-ton mark.
That would make it slightly more competitive with other sportier offerings from the competition.
I like the toned-down hood bevelle thing, it looked to harsh the way they first brought it out.
Theres my $0.02

It's too Honda like....Acura's glory days were 1994 and 1995.
They had integra, legend, NSX, vigor/TL.
The SLX SUV from Isuzu was stupid but at least it was luxurious.
This whole hi-tech look with silver plastic interior and ugly as sin shield like grille is yuck.
Coupled with a 6 speed this could be a fun to drive car but the looks are lacking.

This Honda Acura is the same car as the European Honda Accord. Excellent car with very comfortable front seats and excellent build quality.
