  • s2000 will definitely be my second car...I have a 2002 wrx as my first car and its amazing and all but ive always had something for s2000's and i will definitely be getting one within the next couple months.

  • i have an 02 an i love my baby.....

  • I'm soooo getting the Honda s2000 as my first car. Always love Honda & Acura :)

  • @martar

No, it's way too small to travel with a FEW bags. Snow is a big no no. To low, RWD, too lite. I have a 2005, took 1 winter and I went and purchase a G37x sedan.

S2000 is a bad ass car, just not for snow and travel with bags. I still have the S2000, but it's my non-winter car.

  • Hey , would you recommend this car if i needed this car to go travel across a couple of states with a couple of bags? and does the car work in the winter( where snow can be present)

  • Car accident haha? 2:51

  • @RachelFuryRocks A buddy of mine has an S2000 and he loves it in the winter. He says as long as it's equipped with all weather tires and a sensible driver the car is no problem at all to handle. Just don't think of going over 4k in revs and you should be a ok.

  • 1:01 looked like a yellow s2000 parked inside garage

  • Haha "didn't know it would sound like that". That's the sound of the of cleanest 2.0L 4cylinder vtec motor you'll ever hear. Nothing like the sound of a manufactured vtec rather than b series k series etc..

  • Your handling section was funny

  • @RachelFuryRocks granted, I live in the south, here in the United States...but I've had one for years, and while we don't get much snow down here, we occasionally get wicked ice storms...and I've used both of mine year round (I had a 2003 that i traded for a 2008). Granted...it doesn't have the grip that and STI would have, I got by just fine as my daily driver in even the worst of conditions. As long as you are judicious, you will be fine!

  • @RachelFuryRocks

You know what I would do? I'd buy an old maxima, jeep, or toyota for the winter months and the S2000 for the summer months. Right now that's what I do. I have a cherokee for the winter/trips etc, and the M3 can be whacked out as much as possible. Right now I have two race computers installed, (engine/trans) a cold air intake and weight reduction. Just do what your heart (And wallet) tell you to do! :)

  • @RachelFuryRocks

I would get an STI all day over an s2000. MUCH more functional without question.

I drive an M3 and yes, it's in the garage from Nov to March.

  • i would love to get one of these but everyone says they are down on power but considering i drive a 91 suburban im not sure id notice a lack lol. my main concern is being 6' 3" how does the cabin feel?

  • I think you'd fit just fine in the car at 6' 3". It's got a lot of room. (Camera guy is 6' 1")

As for its power, I think they have great power. Not as fast as a vet, but faster than a lot of other things, for sure.

However, for an "all around" great car including aesthetics, it's a winner.

    Hope that helps,

    DCR

  • @dreamcarreview haha a vette would get me in trouble i need to be older for that kinda fun lol. but thats my real dream car since i was a kid. and thank you that helped a bunch. right after i saw this i found a vid of a guy driving on who was 6' 4" and he fit in it fine lol. much thanks :)

  • 2:55 He's obviously never drivin a Vtec otherwise he wouldve said, "Vtec just kicked in yo!"

  • @braxton2212

I can see it now. HOLY CRAP! Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control JUST KICKED IN!

    LMAO!

    Right you are! :)

  • @dreamcarreview I'm getting one of these beasts rather soon (:

  • That interior looks really really small and clusterphobic...

  • These cars are fantastic as a daily driver as long as you dont carry much and are willing to put snow tires on it like it do on mine since it snows a bit in NJ . Its a street legal gocart and definetely worth the money when it puts a smile on your face everyday you drive it. I average around 21mpg around town and about 29 on the highway but has to be fed premium gas. Its a civililzed car until you hit around 6000 rpm then the fun begins lol

  • great car

  • if you ask me, driving an s2000 is a very involving drive especially an ap1

  • 2:50 .. sounds like someone just crashed LOL

  • i just got a 2000 S2K and im loving it

  • weird the clutch is the worse thing on the car

  • I have been driving an 03 since new, the 9K redline is great, lowered to I believe 8400 in 04. The suspension was also mellowed out in 04. That said, if you are after the true driving experience with the S check out the 03 before you buy the later model. My humble opinion, in fact they are all great cars, I intend to leave mine to my granddaughter.

  • @MrDadcat1 I've owned an '00 and now have an '05. The earlier models (known as an AP1, '00 to '03) do give you a slightly better driving experience, as you've described, because of the suspension and difference in oversteer/understeer. But the upgrades for the AP2's are countless and I've much more enjoyed the '05, especially since it's my daily driver in the summer. Google AP1 vs AP2 to find full details at Honda-tech or other sites.

  • In 4 years....

  • which year should i look for in this car... i dont wanna hear look it up i already have i wanna hear other peoples opinions

  • @thorfoxxx

    I'd look it up. ;P

  • your moms incredibly smooth

  • @TheOombop

My Mom? How'd you know that?

  • i didnt think your mom would sound like that...

  • VTEC hit fuckin hard, my friend has the AP2 its hella fresh and crazy fast!

  • @MrVinnievtec

    It was fun, no doubt!

  • the Honda S2k Is the ULTIMATE Sports car... convertable ,Speed, And looks For a Reasonable price... and like he said, he loves the stick! lol

  • @jessie91011

The stick was crazy fun. I loved the car, but wished it was a hardtop!

Would NEVER buy a car without a hardtop to save my stupidity! ;)

    DCR

  • i want one but I need to learn manual first. they are damn expensive though, start at 18k in my country. would be used as a daily, hopes it good for that.

  • @koryan

It would be a great daily driver. Just chill on the stick and you'll get great gas mileage!

    DCR

  • it's got an intake

  • @s2klover2000

    Yes it does.

  • @dreamcarreview haha yeah when you stepped on it I could tell immidiately that it had an intake of some kind. I want one of these so bad. I'm only 18 so it will be a while before I can even afford one used =/, but hey it's something to work toward.

  • great vid

  • @marcelskaterkid94

    Thank you kindly. ;)

    DCR

  • I love this car... regardless of it's price. As every auto enthusiast should. This was probably the last brilliant affordable topless cars. Shame on Honda for ceasing production.

  • @Rockette324

    Amen.

  • all he ever mention is smooth, smooth gear change etc, can u do a bit more in depth, like about the 50/50 weight distribution, engine sitting at the rear of the front axis, the vtec, not just power band, most hp/tonne for NA engine etc.

the control of everything are toward the driver etc. just a bit more in depth would be a better review.

  • @hks071

Thanks, we'll try to do better next time.

  • thats the power of vtec dude you could have driven it harder it could have taken it

  • hey bro got a question i thinkin of gettin between a s2000, g35 coupe, or a rx8 im 6'3 u think im able to fit in this car?

  • @JUNIOR6289

I think you would fit right in this car. Had a lot of room. But...I LOVE the g35! RX8s are very cool too, but something just doesn't appeal to me with them.

    Hope that helps

  • @dreamcarreview well i was choosin between a 350z, or 370z , i might consider a rx8 too, but the engines are so delicate and if u mess up jus once u might have to rebuild it

  • haha! it sounds like a V8. lemme rephrase that for him, "it sounds like a V-TECHHHH!!" (:

  • @squirrel36274

    HAHA Yes, thank you!

  • wow man so awesome! looking to get one, but dont know which year is best. help?

  • @RulaPilula333 ap1 goes to 9k ap2 i think like 8k ap2 has better suspension set up. their are other things you should just look it up but i am thinking about buying for my first car this or a bmw m3 e46

  • @truelegendinblack

I own a BMW e36 tuned by Dinan and I would take it over this simply because it's got more power in all places. The S2000 can be faster in certain places and has a better interior, but the M3 is unreal in its handling.

Good choice either way and thank you for sharing.

  • @dreamcarreview e36s are badass. i was looking at the e46 but insurance would be tooo high for me since im only 20. so i am going buy me a 240sx and do an SR20 swap and etc. but i love bmws

  • @truelegendinblack

My car is an e36 M3 tuned by Dinan. (I've never done a vid on it) It's pushing around 266 hp, (Cold air intake, engine and trans chips) but is NOT a drag car. However, there's nothing like a BMW. With all the cars I've driven, (100s including these videos) corvettes, Porsches, mercedes AMGs, you name it, the M3 is a serious road car to compare to. If I could get an e46 I'd jump on it. Just my two cents.

  • @truelegendinblack just to add: AP1 has a 2.0L engine, AP2 has a 2.2L (longer stroke, hence the lower redline)

  • @MCRmechanic Yep, AP1 has less torque then AP2 but goes up to 9000 rpm to compensate HP.

HP = torque x rpm : 5252 so same HP means less torque and more revs (and the other way around).

  • @RulaPilula333

The 2003 was great and they're going for reasonable prices. I would do some more research to see which year was the best.

    Good luck!

  • @dreamcarreview what made the 2003 so great compared to the ones from 9 other years?

  • @RulaPilula333 It depends on what you want. 2000-2003 models have a redline of 9000 rpm while the 2004-2008 rev to 8000 rpm but has a little more horsepower

  • @RulaPilula333

Wow, you've got me. Do some research, I just drive em'! :)

  • Your voice in this review is very loud and clear, are you wearing a mic?

  • @renewer

Actually no, it was just the camera this time.

Canon S200 Appropriately named for this video! ;)

  • i love this car ! but this however does not "SOUND LIKE A V8"

  • Would you believe...half of a V8? ;p

  • @andyrin3

Well, I agree...but it did in the moment. ;)

But again, we were used to driving Big block Chevy's so I guess I was out of line a litt.e ;)

  • such a nice car i love them want one

  • Getting my 2003 s2000 tomorrow cant wait!

  • @tylrc87

    is it awesome?

  • @360DRONE omg its incredible! handles like its on rails, accelerates on command, vtech sounds amazing, and looks so sexy! next car is gonna be a 2009 s2000 cr version XD

  • Nice. low miles too. I found one, a 2000 year model with about 30,000 miles for $13,000. is it a good idea to buy this one? I also found a 2002 one but it has 122,000. for the same price, $13k. is there a big difference between a 2000 and a 2002? should i get the 2000 year one?

  • 2:10 That's exactly how I felt the first time I drove this car. I rented one for my wedding. So fun. It was the 2nd best highlight of the day. :) Tight clutch, fast shifting, just powerful all around. I didn't lift the hood. It's surprising to see so much room in there.

    Great tape. Thanks for sharing.

  • I have one of these and I love it. I don't see how any car could possible be better. Sure it may be a teeny bit underpowered compared to American muscle, but there's plenty of room in the engine compartment for a supercharger

  • im 6 feet close to 300 pounds and i fit well lol

  • fucking AEM V2, thats what made u go like hooolllyyyy shhiiittt......

  • ok so one thing i dont get, for the shifter, is the reverse gear is under 6th gear? or is it in another roll by it self?

  • this car is blody awesome

  • God I love this car, I cant wait to buy one.

    <3

  • @Footballfanafc lol and me

  • @Footballfanafc me to i want one since that was produced

  • Did you Rev Match before you "dropped it"?

  • I take it you bought it? A test drive is all it took for me and I was driving off the lot a couple hours later. I hope to be buried in it. ha ha

  • I am 6´4" height, but not fat. Do you think that will be roblem with look out ?

  • Not sure at 6' 4" if it would be that comfortable for you. But it wouldn't hurt to try one out. When it comes to being tall usually it's the legroom over headroom that's an issue. Don't forget that this was convertible too .

    Hopefully that helps?

  • I'm 6'5" and I've driven 3 of them, I fit like a glove in them. And I still have about an inch and a half of headroom when the top is up. But ya, I do have to duck down a bit to see stoplights. Hope I helped.

  • im 5'11" and headroom is alright for me, but i have to duck to see stoplights legroom is really good too. But id reccomend sitting in one first.

  • I'm 6'1 and own an 08 S2K(CR). Funny enough, my torso is taller than my legs, so my perspective from the driver's seat is probably similar to what yours would be.

I have no problem with headroom, but looking through corners in aggressive driving tends to be obstructed a little by the molding around the front window.

Aside from that minor concern (that hasn't hindered my track times), I find the fit great.

  • @333OMAR333 It honestly depends where youre hight is. In you're legs, then no, you won't be comfortable at all. The Stearing is non adjustable. But just sit in one and find out, its a good enough car that you'll want to at least give it a try. I'm 6'0 284 and I fit perfectly fine in mine.

  • @333OMAR333 I had an S2000 as a get-away car for my wedding. My best man is 6'4" and couldn't pull it up for us. He's kinda picky though, and was probably drunk! I'm 6'2" and it fit like a glove.

  • @333OMAR333 Jeremy Clarkson is 6'5" and he's able to fit in one of these with the roof up. Shouldn't be a problem for you.

  • @333OMAR333 im 6'2" mate and i am a big lad too and i have no problems with the car at all , the driving position is perfect . granted gettting in and out isnt as graceful as it could be but once ur in the car its very comfortable to sit in , the ride all be it firm is very good. i went on a 4 and a half hour car drive last weekend and got out of it at the end as refresh as getting out of my othe car ( MPV).

  • Yeah I have an '02 and I'm loving every moment of it. The wife didn't like it so much when I first got it but after she drove it a couple of times and now we're fighting for the keys. I'm 6'0" and I fit in no problem. But if u are over weight and over 6 feet than that might be a problem. This is by far one of the best sports car I've ever own hands down. And the best part is that it's built by Honda. Now I got to find a way to hide the keys from the wife..lol

  • one question, how tall are you? Looking into getting one of these and worried about my 6'2 height

  • You'll have no problem. Much more room than in the viper. I'm 5' 10" by the way.

  • @bmw52786 I'm 6'3 and drove(R.I.P.) Mine with no problems

  • Nice review. Thanks.

  • wow this vid makes me want one even more now

  • oh nvm, its the aem v2 =)

  • wonder what intake is in it... sounds niice

  • driving it self... your going straight buddy...

  • LOL, yeah, kind of a spur of the moment comment not to mention when the camera guy pans down I've got my damn hand on the steering wheel. Busted! ;)
