poor horses. i hate how people breed horses to dance like a little ballerina and forced not to gallop or canter. its cruel. horses are born to run. not prance.
@PoneeL0ver Wow, that's ignorant. :) I agree with ItzSamPowers... If the horse doesn't want to do it, they won't. You can't force a horse, a horse does this because of positive reenforcement and love and respect for their trainers. A love and respect the trainer gives the horse.
@PoneeL0ver Riiiiight, because a horse galloping (aka the racing industry) is so much better .... Not. Guaranteed racing causes horses more injury and pain than this does. This breed was bred and developed to do this discipline - not gallop.
@PoneeL0ver A horse is willing to perform for it's owner/rider if the horse is treated with respect and cared for with love. You form a bond with that horse, have seen any of the videos of horses and riders. Look up some videos of cutting horses. The horses do it themselves, all the rider does is decide which cow to cut from the herd. It's an excellent display of horsemanship
The Lipizzaners are from Hungary. Period. The lipizzaner horses are special because these horses are adapted to their environment, which is unique in the world, and can be found in the mountains of Bükk, Hungary.
Beautiful. Thanks for posting. I love all horses, but Andalusians(I have a PRE gelding) and Lipizzans are my favorites. Newsboys are awesome too!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a happy, upbeat song to hear while watching beautiful horses dance.
@sammyrox8 As a stallion he is doing very much (aside from bowing) what he'd do without a rider in the paddock trying to impress a mare, or his own shadow! Much more preferable life to that of many on the "modern" dressage circuit, with their hyperflexion (rollkur) and lack of engagement of the hindquarters. But I get the irony! Regarding the horse's mouth, the horse can only produce saliva if its jaw is relaxed and it is accepting the bit - a good sign!
I used to work with these horses. This is Maluso, one of the Andalusians. He's really sweet, but these horses go through a lot of pain and a very unnatural lifestyle. They are more for crowd wows than true dressage, but with the travel they don't have much time to do a lot of practice anyway. Sometimes things got really rusty on the road.
Despite complaints about this performance, it is one of the better videos on youtube, having spent part of the day weeding through all of them, among the many slideshows as well.
Yeah, this is a very quick, somewhat sloppy version of the Spanish Riding School's work. This is primarily put together for its spectacularity, rather than for its skill.
However, the "slobbery white stuff" is simply the horse working the bit a lot. Normally it's a good thing, meaning the horse is engaged and responsive to the bit, but in this instance I think it's a symptom of nerves for the horse.
Thanks for posting, though, it's interesting to watch!
I have known three peole who have been riders for the Lipizzan stallions. All three are now accomplished, professional Dressage riders. They will tell you these horses are taught tricks for the crowd and would not consider what these horses do to be true dressage.
I love the show they put on, put i must admit, in this video, these horses do look really tense..... I am a huge dressage fan, and rider, but these horses look really scared not relaxed... but either way they are still beautiful
Sorry to desagree with some fewers, but compare this show with the original Spanish Riding School in Vienna and you will notice a huge difference! This presentation is hash an accelerated, not fluent and harmonic. The horses seem to be at the edge of nervous break down all the time.
I think that these gorgeous horses deserve it better!
I've gone to a Lipizzaner horse show in new york, these horses are beautiful creatures and have incredible body structures, and they are basically trained to do tricks in front of a large audience along with dressage.
I've seen this solo a few times and it is pathetic. Very resistant and nothing really going on in the way of amazing horsemanship. I've gone to this show a lot and the only time it was good was when they had an Austrian trainer that was from the Spanish Riding School. The time the riding was good and the horses were correctly ridden. Since then it hasn't been very good- sorry!
I agree, the horse has his ears back in parts and it's movements aren't very fluid and graceful. The rider is way to bouncy on the horse's back, as well. It's also very sloppy.
I ride a horse that is just like a Lipizzaner. She is built just like it. Her name is Blue. She is grey (white) just like this one. She's great. She actually a paint but you would NEVER guess it unless she was wet and even then you can BARELY see the gray!!! She's awesome and I love her. She's my instructors horse and she was a abused and everything so she's scared if you go up to her with tack real quick. She also is scared of spray bottles. So we use clicker training and she's fine. i LOVE her
The horse you see in this video is a white Andalusian, not a Lipizzaner. If you know your horses, you will notice that this little beast is much more stocky and tough... It doesn't really matter, these horses have GREAT handlers.. I have raised over 90 horses of my own, it takes patience and love to see the majestic animals thru their daily life.. My congrats to you folks that work with them, and to the rest that get to enjoy them!!!!
".ancestors of the Lipizzaners, have been traced to Carthaginian and Roman horses at the time Julius Caesar was Emperor of Rome.
...dates back to around 1562 when Archduke Maximilian started to breed Spanish horses in Lipica, a village in the modern day Slovenia...
The South African Lipizzaners have earned the honour of being the only performing Lipizzaners outside Vienna recognised by and affiliated to the Spanish Riding School
Look on the map where is Lipica (Lipicanec). And you will see that it is in SLOVENIA. You probably think that it is Spanish becouse of spanish reading school tha is in Wiena.
And the fact that Slovenia was under occupation of Austria at the time of their development doesn't make them Austrian eather!
No, they are not originated from spain. They are descendents of horses who lived in Slovenia (Kast horses) and Krast region is only in Slovenia. Most people think they are from Austria or Spain because of fameous spanish riding school in Wienna and because they dont know where or what Slovenia is.
I agree, but Not all stallions are crazy, no brainers. I know loads of stallions that dont act like they are! You have to look between their leggs to know if they are a stallion or not..
By the way.. you can tell by the behaiviour of the tail how pissed or uptight a horse is. The tail of the first horse is totally calm. He's absolutely having fun and offers so much different movements to his rider, that he can't even decide which one's is best. This a sign he enjoys the ride. Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Germany.
Oh yeah, and as for cruelty/forcing the horse to do things, then you haven't met a horse! They would never respond like they do if they were forced to do it, and I won't get into the hostory of the methods the Spanish riding school use, but trust me, forcing the horses to do this would NOT work!
wow... all i can say is that most of the comments bellow are very ingorant. first of all, if u think the horse is doing this because he is pissed off, you are incorrect. this type of movement is how they are trained to move their whole life. furhtermore, this is not a dressage event, it is it's own class of performing with famous spanish horses, and a true horseman would know this.
@thymocytaSpanish Riding School of the Hofburg is one of the myths of Vienna. Founded in 1572, is named for the Spanish origin of the horses, already known in Roman times. So much so that even Julius Caesar had one. Since 1580, this splendid horses race Lipizzaners were named in honor of the princely block located in Lipizza, a small town near Trieste, today in Slovenia. It was the Emperor Maximilian II who brought the Spanish horses to Austria in 1572.
I certainly agree with 'mwovu' the horse is not 'pissed', angry or upset. Although I do believe that the rider should uses his/her wrists softer I also understand that the rider cannot just sit there and the horse does it all themselves
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This horse looks pissed. You can see it in his actions. When the rider asks for something, it jumps out of the way. You can tell it is anticipating punishment. This isn't the worst performance i have have ever seen, but it certainly isn't the best.
These horses are some of the most pampered and revered breeds ever. They are treated like family by their owners. They are not allowed to perform until they are at least 9, and they are permanently paired with only one rider. Very exclusive breed ... I wish I were one! LOL
I never said it wasn't well cared for, I said it didn't look happy. I have seen these horses perform and think they are amazing, however, this isn't the best I have ever seen. Look at his performance, he is angry. For example, look at 1:25, it leaps like it doesn't know what to do.
Even if that little jump was not intended on the riders part, how do you come to the conclusion that this means that the horse is unhappy? confused, perhaps, at that moment, and its great that he is free to express his confusion in this way- most horses get taught very early on not to react to anything.
You are right, confused is a better word choice than unhappy. You can see it doesn't know exactly what the rider is asking and compensates by doing what they think the rider wants.
as for the drooling thing, you see many a dressage horse do this.. and even a horse with a western saddle foam at the mouth. I believe it is partially related to adrenalin, though I'm not claiming it as fact. Beautiful performance..
Ummmmm yeah they are I saw it in the paper it says "Spanish Riding School on its Last Legs" and they lost 2.9 million sollars last year and the horses were getting injured becuz they are doing like 70 shows every year!
For you all to know: Lipizzaners are form Slovenia! Not from Vienna, not even from Hungary (I am Hungarian and I am aware that most of the Hungarian people think Lipizzaner is a Hungarian breed because we have huge stables and a history of breeding as well)
@thymocyta Lipizzaner horses originated in Andalusia. From there, namely the Royal Stables of Cordoba, came under the command of Ferdinand I, brother of Charles V, to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Dr. Phol, director of Vienna's stud a few years ago, decided to promote the recovery of bringing race horses of the Andalusian pastures, and they were losing height for the Purebred Spanish.
This horse is drooling because he's so flexed at the poll and throat latch that it cuts off his wind. When a muscular horse such as this one has to bend at the poll so extremely, it is difficult for them to breathe. As gorgeous as this horse is, the rider is using too much bit and not enough leg...thus the drooling. When he's fighting the bit like this horse is, his mouth is open and the rider loses his edge. Too much bit for the horse...
I have a friend that is crazy about lipizzans. They're not my favorite breed really, but they do amaze me.The way they're always willing to please, and all those neat things they do!I mean, look at that mounted capriol!Gourgeous! And I love the song!Three thumbs up!Excellent job!
Disgusting. It is upposed to be a peaceful thing.. Not a stressful experience for the horse. You should learn how to train a horse before you ruin them completely... DisGRACEFUL.
do you know why dressage began? back when horses were used as war horses they had to bend perfectly and obediently to a rider or both rider and horse would perish. all the dressage moves you see today are remnants of that. ie the piaffe was used in a line up to keep the muscles warm, and the half pass was used to avoid danger and so on. dressage was born of something not at all peaceful and we shud b happy of the level it has achieved now
Before any of you "want to be" riders try to bad mouth these horses and their riders you should try to ride a high school horse in front of several thousand people without feeling like you have to perform "right now"!!
Disgusting.how can someone b so damn selfish2 use tese gorgeous animals2earn money&look tat he achieved sometin big by brain washin&conditionin such naive animals.d animal's compliance doesnt mean he enjoys it!who knows wat kind of punishment he wud get if he wud disobey ha?if u tink tis isnt stress ten ur completely blind.& wat an ironic music-FREE??!it should'v bn'I am imprisoned&controlled by my bosses-yes I am teir slave'tis is so damn sad2see&can't believe anyone enjoys tis kind of cruelty!
How sad that no one was selfish enough to teach you to write proper english or spell for that matter. Obviously, you have never trained an animal. Training an animal by abusing it rarely ever works. However, training an animal with love and attention absolute rewards both the animal and the owner. For the record, the absolute best thing you can do for an abused animal to teach it trust and help it build security is to train it. Perhaps your parents should try it.
i am sad for you that u didnt have d opportunity to learn short-hand reading!i didnt know i had to pass an english test even here.you call it training an animal with love-there doesn't need to be physical abuse.but i more call that psychological conditioning through reward and punishment.
if your sophisticated reading capabilities did not provide you with any knowledge about how easy any living being can be psychologically conditioned,(consider your social conditioning)then what your parents taught you was in vain.poor you.
For people saying that the horse is not comfortable - yeah its maybe not as comfortable as some of the horses u c in Grand Prix dressage, but remember that there are stallions and they are fiesty and have more attitude (thats half the reason why they are better than geldings) so its not always going to LOOK as relaxed
So in Grand Prix dressage no Stallions are ridden or what do you want to say with this? And this rider IS DEFINATELY working too much with his hands and that IS painful for horses, when they´re wearing a curb and it doesn´t matter if they´re Stallions Geldings or Mares ...
Great horses to watch! I've seen them probably 5 or so times now and love it all the more everytime I see them. Takes YEARS to get where these horses are. For those who don't know they're born black and at the time of these performances they're white...hmm...10 or so years of hard work and dedication. (Foam) with Morgans as well foaming at the mouth is nice to see. I means they're comfortable.
Actually, probably not. Lips were bred for this, Arabians were not. Most breeds cant get up to the high standard a Lipizzaner can(including the warmbloods). Nothing against arabians (I leased an Arab mare a few years back, and I absolutely loved her). Now in a race or doing endurance, the Arabian would win hands down.
Not a chance, Lipizzaners have a very unique power and strength ratio. They were purposefully bred as war horses to be able to use these moves in combat. They can distribute their weight and offset it in a singular way.
"kandars" as they are called in norway, (the standar dressage bridle used in higher classes) is not as nasty as people say, if used corectly. Also, remember theese are lipizzaner stallions. They can be quite hard to controll, and are strong!!
This is 500kg animals we are talking about. There is a fine line between needed dicipline and cruilty, and i see no more stress here than what's natural under theese circumstanses
I have been to see one of these shows, it was great!! I think the horses are wearing double bridles, which a large amount of dressage people us. These people have been working with lipizzaners for years, so they know what they are doing!!
That has to be painful for the Horse because its wearing a "Kandare"(well thats german I don´t know exactly what it is in English. A curb or something like that ?) In the very beginning from 0:17 to 0:22 or something around this and 0:51 and 1:22 you can see, that the horse is not relaxed at all. Of course it looks great at first. But thats not great horsemanship for me.
I would have to disagree, you have to know the breed well to understand that they do all of this naturally in the wild. And moreover that if a Lipi doesn't want to do something you've got a cat in hell's chance of getting them to. What I can understand looks like discomfort is purely the containment of power, the same as a dressage rider uses. He's just gagging to be allowed to unleash a mass of contained impulsion, Lipi stallions are incredible and love to explode and perform.
I had the chance to train Lipizzaners and I can tell it is not their nature to act like this (I mean the first horse). Yes, they are full of energy, but this horse is full of tension as well.
I have to say I agree that the first horse looks nervous and stressed. (I've been riding for 15 years now, that allows me to say this). The rider does not have light hands and he uses the spurs too much as well. The horse might be nervous for the lights and the arena, but the rider shoul be able to act accordingly, not with such hectic movements.
Well to me this first horse looks totally stressed. I think he looks like hes trying to do his tricks as fast as possible as if he was afraid of punishment. Just look at 0:30 or 0:35 the rider works way too much with his hands (well actually througout the whole sequence)
You don't know much about horses i presume..start doing some research before you come thinking every horse is sooo stressed out. Their trained to do this and love it. If the horse was afraid that rider would have been on the ground. Horses are NOT pussies..
Actually I´ve been riding for seven years now, so I wouldn´t say, that I know too much about horses, but I can see if a horse is stressed.., well at least that´s what I´ve beens told: If a horse is ridden with a curb and the rider uses his hands as much as this one does it IS painful for the horse. The horse is working at such a hectic pace (please have a look at 1:22 and tell me what this is, if not trying to do what the rider wants as fast as possible-- and not in a positive way)
If you can tell me WHY this horse is NOT stressed, then please feel free to correct me, I want to learn... but I can only see details which let me think of the horse as stressed. And btw. I don´t think that "every horse is sooooo stressed out". I just wrote "this first horse". I don´t want to fight, I just wrote my opinion about this... have fun to pick to pieces what i wrote ^^

The South African Lipizzaners have earned the honour of being the only performing Lipizzaners outside Vienna recognised by and affiliated to the Spanish Riding School

yea..BUT!!! they originated from spain where they were trained for battle. XD so hahaha!!!
guitargurl21293 3 years ago
Look on the map where is Lipica (Lipicanec). And you will see that it is in SLOVENIA. You probably think that it is Spanish becouse of spanish reading school tha is in Wiena.
And the fact that Slovenia was under occupation of Austria at the time of their development doesn't make them Austrian eather!
mdimec4 3 years ago
No, they are not originated from spain. They are descendents of horses who lived in Slovenia (Kast horses) and Krast region is only in Slovenia. Most people think they are from Austria or Spain because of fameous spanish riding school in Wienna and because they dont know where or what Slovenia is.
mdimec4 3 years ago
Beautiful elevation, especially in the tempi changes... and whatever he did after that in the walk. I've never seen that done before.
I don't like the footing though... It looks like he's on concrete... Ouch... that really wears down a horses hocks and joints.
schadenfreude93 3 years ago
Its called a spanish walk I believe.
Its not concrete but not too soft either. It almost a woodish boarding they use. The middle is a carpet.
dylanXhorsieXtime 3 years ago
they're so gorgeous. its amazing that anyone can train a gelding to do those tricks let alone a stallion
samanthasmith69 3 years ago
I agree, but Not all stallions are crazy, no brainers. I know loads of stallions that dont act like they are! You have to look between their leggs to know if they are a stallion or not..

wonderful footage...just saw these magnificent animals at South Point in Las Vegas...they only perform to classical music, btw

MyBigBigHorseWorld 3 years ago
By the way.. you can tell by the behaiviour of the tail how pissed or uptight a horse is. The tail of the first horse is totally calm. He's absolutely having fun and offers so much different movements to his rider, that he can't even decide which one's is best. This a sign he enjoys the ride. Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Germany.

remember they are stallions it looked more like he was exicted and a bit hyper.
his ears wer rite forward he was really concerntrating.
they used to send these horses to this circus man in secret to train them because he was like a horse whisperer
watching them is incredable.

horsecrazyy2 3 years ago
Oh yeah, and as for cruelty/forcing the horse to do things, then you haven't met a horse! They would never respond like they do if they were forced to do it, and I won't get into the hostory of the methods the Spanish riding school use, but trust me, forcing the horses to do this would NOT work!
1ucy013 3 years ago
Absoltuely incredible... I can't believe how hard the horses and riders work; they make it look so effortless! Can't wait to go see them soon =D
1ucy013 3 years ago
wow... all i can say is that most of the comments bellow are very ingorant. first of all, if u think the horse is doing this because he is pissed off, you are incorrect. this type of movement is how they are trained to move their whole life. furhtermore, this is not a dressage event, it is it's own class of performing with famous spanish horses, and a true horseman would know this.
USNBRAT91 3 years ago
These are not spanish horses, these are Lipizzaners, and they are from Slovenia!
thymocyta 3 years ago 19
@thymocytaSpanish Riding School of the Hofburg is one of the myths of Vienna. Founded in 1572, is named for the Spanish origin of the horses, already known in Roman times. So much so that even Julius Caesar had one. Since 1580, this splendid horses race Lipizzaners were named in honor of the princely block located in Lipizza, a small town near Trieste, today in Slovenia. It was the Emperor Maximilian II who brought the Spanish horses to Austria in 1572.

I certainly agree with 'mwovu' the horse is not 'pissed', angry or upset. Although I do believe that the rider should uses his/her wrists softer I also understand that the rider cannot just sit there and the horse does it all themselves

this horse is not angry, you obviously don't know much about horses.

This horse looks pissed. You can see it in his actions. When the rider asks for something, it jumps out of the way. You can tell it is anticipating punishment. This isn't the worst performance i have have ever seen, but it certainly isn't the best.
Phoenix015 3 years ago
These horses are some of the most pampered and revered breeds ever. They are treated like family by their owners. They are not allowed to perform until they are at least 9, and they are permanently paired with only one rider. Very exclusive breed ... I wish I were one! LOL
BadSpottedDog 3 years ago 4
I never said it wasn't well cared for, I said it didn't look happy. I have seen these horses perform and think they are amazing, however, this isn't the best I have ever seen. Look at his performance, he is angry. For example, look at 1:25, it leaps like it doesn't know what to do.
Phoenix015 3 years ago 2
Even if that little jump was not intended on the riders part, how do you come to the conclusion that this means that the horse is unhappy? confused, perhaps, at that moment, and its great that he is free to express his confusion in this way- most horses get taught very early on not to react to anything.
beagle3341 3 years ago
You are right, confused is a better word choice than unhappy. You can see it doesn't know exactly what the rider is asking and compensates by doing what they think the rider wants.
Phoenix015 3 years ago 2
i have seen them up close-they are entrancing
these horses are made to dance and are the perfection of the equestrian world

as for the drooling thing, you see many a dressage horse do this.. and even a horse with a western saddle foam at the mouth. I believe it is partially related to adrenalin, though I'm not claiming it as fact. Beautiful performance..

For you all to know: Lipizzaners are form Slovenia! Not from Vienna, not even from Hungary (I am Hungarian and I am aware that most of the Hungarian people think Lipizzaner is a Hungarian breed because we have huge stables and a history of breeding as well)
thymocyta 3 years ago 14

Disgusting. It is upposed to be a peaceful thing.. Not a stressful experience for the horse. You should learn how to train a horse before you ruin them completely... DisGRACEFUL.
sofsie 4 years ago
do you know why dressage began? back when horses were used as war horses they had to bend perfectly and obediently to a rider or both rider and horse would perish. all the dressage moves you see today are remnants of that. ie the piaffe was used in a line up to keep the muscles warm, and the half pass was used to avoid danger and so on. dressage was born of something not at all peaceful and we shud b happy of the level it has achieved now
tevis666 4 years ago
Before any of you "want to be" riders try to bad mouth these horses and their riders you should try to ride a high school horse in front of several thousand people without feeling like you have to perform "right now"!!

mixellu888 4 years ago
How sad that no one was selfish enough to teach you to write proper english or spell for that matter. Obviously, you have never trained an animal. Training an animal by abusing it rarely ever works. However, training an animal with love and attention absolute rewards both the animal and the owner. For the record, the absolute best thing you can do for an abused animal to teach it trust and help it build security is to train it. Perhaps your parents should try it.
saintmaya 4 years ago
i am sad for you that u didnt have d opportunity to learn short-hand reading!i didnt know i had to pass an english test even here.you call it training an animal with love-there doesn't need to be physical abuse.but i more call that psychological conditioning through reward and punishment.
mixellu888 4 years ago
if your sophisticated reading capabilities did not provide you with any knowledge about how easy any living being can be psychologically conditioned,(consider your social conditioning)then what your parents taught you was in vain.poor you.

emshorse 4 years ago
For people saying that the horse is not comfortable - yeah its maybe not as comfortable as some of the horses u c in Grand Prix dressage, but remember that there are stallions and they are fiesty and have more attitude (thats half the reason why they are better than geldings) so its not always going to LOOK as relaxed
jen4dougie4eva 4 years ago
So in Grand Prix dressage no Stallions are ridden or what do you want to say with this? And this rider IS DEFINATELY working too much with his hands and that IS painful for horses, when they´re wearing a curb and it doesn´t matter if they´re Stallions Geldings or Mares ...
josyrike 4 years ago 3
Great horses to watch! I've seen them probably 5 or so times now and love it all the more everytime I see them. Takes YEARS to get where these horses are. For those who don't know they're born black and at the time of these performances they're white...hmm...10 or so years of hard work and dedication. (Foam) with Morgans as well foaming at the mouth is nice to see. I means they're comfortable.

barghgirl 4 years ago
Bet ya if you trained an Arabian mare to do the same thing, She could do it just as good, if not better, then the white Lipizzaner Stallions.
nascartjt 4 years ago
Actually, probably not. Lips were bred for this, Arabians were not. Most breeds cant get up to the high standard a Lipizzaner can(including the warmbloods). Nothing against arabians (I leased an Arab mare a few years back, and I absolutely loved her). Now in a race or doing endurance, the Arabian would win hands down.
Eventer13 4 years ago
Not a chance, Lipizzaners have a very unique power and strength ratio. They were purposefully bred as war horses to be able to use these moves in combat. They can distribute their weight and offset it in a singular way.
widgeon 4 years ago
"kandars" as they are called in norway, (the standar dressage bridle used in higher classes) is not as nasty as people say, if used corectly. Also, remember theese are lipizzaner stallions. They can be quite hard to controll, and are strong!!
This is 500kg animals we are talking about. There is a fine line between needed dicipline and cruilty, and i see no more stress here than what's natural under theese circumstanses
lilpinkpunk 4 years ago
I have been to see one of these shows, it was great!! I think the horses are wearing double bridles, which a large amount of dressage people us. These people have been working with lipizzaners for years, so they know what they are doing!!
meshuggahross 4 years ago
That has to be painful for the Horse because its wearing a "Kandare"(well thats german I don´t know exactly what it is in English. A curb or something like that ?) In the very beginning from 0:17 to 0:22 or something around this and 0:51 and 1:22 you can see, that the horse is not relaxed at all. Of course it looks great at first. But thats not great horsemanship for me.
IDOLtheMERENSpony 4 years ago
I would have to disagree, you have to know the breed well to understand that they do all of this naturally in the wild. And moreover that if a Lipi doesn't want to do something you've got a cat in hell's chance of getting them to. What I can understand looks like discomfort is purely the containment of power, the same as a dressage rider uses. He's just gagging to be allowed to unleash a mass of contained impulsion, Lipi stallions are incredible and love to explode and perform.
widgeon 4 years ago
I had the chance to train Lipizzaners and I can tell it is not their nature to act like this (I mean the first horse). Yes, they are full of energy, but this horse is full of tension as well.
thymocyta 3 years ago 2
I have to say I agree that the first horse looks nervous and stressed. (I've been riding for 15 years now, that allows me to say this). The rider does not have light hands and he uses the spurs too much as well. The horse might be nervous for the lights and the arena, but the rider shoul be able to act accordingly, not with such hectic movements.
thymocyta 3 years ago 2
Well to me this first horse looks totally stressed. I think he looks like hes trying to do his tricks as fast as possible as if he was afraid of punishment. Just look at 0:30 or 0:35 the rider works way too much with his hands (well actually througout the whole sequence)
IDOLtheMERENSpony 4 years ago 2
You don't know much about horses i presume..start doing some research before you come thinking every horse is sooo stressed out. Their trained to do this and love it. If the horse was afraid that rider would have been on the ground. Horses are NOT pussies..
pookybrain 4 years ago
Part 1
Actually I´ve been riding for seven years now, so I wouldn´t say, that I know too much about horses, but I can see if a horse is stressed.., well at least that´s what I´ve beens told: If a horse is ridden with a curb and the rider uses his hands as much as this one does it IS painful for the horse. The horse is working at such a hectic pace (please have a look at 1:22 and tell me what this is, if not trying to do what the rider wants as fast as possible-- and not in a positive way)
IDOLtheMERENSpony 4 years ago 2
Part 2
If you can tell me WHY this horse is NOT stressed, then please feel free to correct me, I want to learn... but I can only see details which let me think of the horse as stressed. And btw. I don´t think that "every horse is sooooo stressed out". I just wrote "this first horse". I don´t want to fight, I just wrote my opinion about this... have fun to pick to pieces what i wrote ^^
