  • This song and lyrics fit in so well with 5 cm/s, I wouldn't be surprised if the movie was actually partially based on this song.

  • Beautiful song...

I heard it much times...it's amazing...

Makoto Shinkai & Masayoshi Yamazaki - big creators.

  • @jokerarayko

    @bloodthirstyalucard

There will be an anime made after this conversation: One Stranger, One Conversation.

  • It's raining.

  • เพราะมากค่ะ ^^

  • By fucks sake, stoping making me cry you damn song!!

  • Comment removed

  • I really need someone to talk to. This is really out of character for me. I've been always the one with the cold heart. Nobody in my family has ever seen me cry since I was 7 years old even with all the deaths in the family. My younger siblings have always said that they never saw me cry in their entire life. So, I don't know what is happening to me right now. Maybe I really felt sad during those times but I just bottled them up and hid them away? I don't know. I just want the pain to stop.

  • It took me four years to get over my first love. I thought it was unrequited love. Later, I found out through a friend that she loved me too. I had planned to confess to her, but before I realized just how I loved her I ran out of time. My family immigrated to Canada. It was hard for me to move on, especially after realizing the special memories we could have made together if only I had the courage to tell her that I love her. I still have her text messages saved in my phone from four years ago

  • @jokerarayko

So what if you're far away? Look man are you going to be like Takaki and be a coward? Just to let you know, the main reason why they lost contact was because Takaki lost to his pride (if you have read the novel). In the end he was the one created his worst nightmare by being ashamed to himself. We live in information age and it's no excuse for you to not tell her even if it has been four years and that you're far away.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard I did, but I did it too late and my feelings wasn't reciprocated. She just brushed them off. The way I understood from her replies was that she didn't want to get hurt because I was so far away. By the time I told her, she was already trying to move on. I thought it was unfair to force my love to her, so I let her go. That was the hardest part, because it was obvious she still liked me. I just couldn't imagine making her feel the same pain I did.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Its just that I just can't seem to forget her. My feelings for her are as strong as ever. I'm really tired from the pain. But, I guess that's just my personality. I actually regret watching the movie, because it just made the wound deeper and reopened some. I've brushed off plenty of girls because, like Takaki, I was always looking off in the distance looking for something that nobody else can offer besides my first love.

  • @jokerarayko

If you had told her then I can assure you that you wont have any regrets. I can understand her reasons, however just because you're far away doesn't mean it can't work. I know a lot of parents who leave their family and move to a different country for work to give their family a better life. Does that mean that they can't love them anymore? No because love transcends time and space, and they know that they'll see each other again.

  • @jokerarayko

Don't lose contact because that's what relation is all about. If you wait even longer, you'll end up like Takaki where he didn't do anything about it but feel sorry for himself. You should never regret watching this movie. Do you not see that experience is valuable? It doesn't matter whether they're good or bad, we still learn from them. That is why people who don't take risks never grow. The character of every moment is determined by our understanding of the moment.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard P.S. Did you read the novel in English? Is there an e-book version of the novel?

  • @jokerarayko

There is a translated version of the novel. Look up "5cm lhyeung net" in google. There is also a manga version released I think it was last 2011 and it's sadder because it's more detailed. See for yourself.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Thank you for your words. The movie really affected me because it resembled my life too closely. It scared me that my life would be like Takaki. That my future would be so dark and sad. I've been living my life full of regrets. Maybe that's why I'm so scared of failure and pain. Thank you again.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Hi again. I'm sorry to bother you but you're the only one who has ever taken your time to reply to my posts. I just found time to read the manga. The ending made the story at least a bit more bearable when Kanae met Takaki. But, it still pains my heart that Akari and Takaki still love each other. I don't know why the story is affecting me this much. Maybe all the emotions that I bottled up until now were suddenly released when I watched the movie. Thank you for your time.

  • @jokerarayko

Akari and Takaki will always love each other even if they have moved on and that is a fact (again because of what was written on their letters which you can only see in the novel). The truth is they never broke up in the first place. The only reason why they chose to move on is that they lost contact. :\

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Thank you for your time. I don't know why, but that really lightened the burden in my chest. It is a really sad story then. It was out of choice that they never got together and not by circumstance. I think I have been emotionally unstable this past year and I just didn't notice it. I think the movie just opened the tap that poured out all the trapped emotions I had. Thank you for suggesting the manga.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard At least I can find solace in the knowledge that Kanae and Takaki saw each other again. I find it really weird that this movie affected me this much. From an analytical point of view, the movie is realistic. I should be able to understand it without much trouble. It's just that viewing the situation from a third person of view and seeing how much they still loved each other just made it sadder. Thank you for your time. I have been a bit suicidal these past days

  • @jokerarayko

I wonder if it was really Takaki that Kanae saw. They only showed his shoes but not his face. From the look of Kanae's face it's probably him. They always like making endings like these hah.

As for Akari it's most likely her at the end. Although we can never be sure because at the end of the novel it says: " It would be enough of a miracle if it had really been “her”.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard In the manga, it looked like her. If it really was her, why do you think she ran away? Even if I'm engaged, if I would meet my soulmate, I would call off the engagement and attempt to rekindle my love with her. I don't understand that part.

  • @jokerarayko

That I'm not sure, probably because she is already content? I've heard that she was already married when they last met at the train. Not all of the parts were realistic after all. Based on the summary, they said that she left because she has already moved on.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Oh, if she is married then that makes sense. Although I not sure if I would run away from someone that I haven't met for a long time. I guess the ending is more of a metaphor rather than an actual event in the plot. We are overthinking this movie, lol. I'm really glad I talked to you. Do you have any recommendations of any movies like this? I don't mind japanese drama (live action). You seem well versed in love and anime movies.

  • @jokerarayko

It could be that Akari thought it was Takaki but she left and smile because she probably thought that it can't be him. It's really sad because there is no closure. :(

No I'm not a love guru or obssessed with anime (except Byousoku 5 Centimeter and Clannad) lol. I'm just a wisdom seeker. I never really get along with people my age because I have always felt that I'm different.

I'm glad I talked to you as well. Even if I help just one person, I'm happy.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Talking to you with the anonymity of the internet really helped me open up the troubles of my heart. My life has been slipping away these past few days. I haven't been sleeping at all and I stopped eating. Today marks the first time in a week that I smiled again. Thank you again. This talk really gave me closure on my feelings and gave me a better understanding on how I should live my life. It also made me realize that, in a way, the ending was happy after all.

  • @jokerarayko

When all the odds are against you, never ever lose hope. Did you know that Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before creating the light bulb? Even if your odds is .01% if you have faith miracles can happen. This is how the universe plays with us.

The truth is I'm not that emotionally mature. I still have a lot to learn and just like you, bad things happened to me. However I looked at it in a different way, because I know that our greatest despair can be our greatest gift.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard If you wouldn't mind me asking. But, are you a Christian?

  • @jokerarayko

Yes sir, why do you ask?

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Because I am as well. Thank you for helping me light my lamp again. I am freshman in University right now and things haven't been going as planned. Living on my own certainly is also not helping at all. I am a person who never talk to anyone about how I feel or share my sadness with others. My parents tell me that I'm a person who tends to live sadness or sufferings on my own. Although it is always obvious when I am down. I never bother anyone with.

  • @jokerarayko

Hah that's good to know. We both have Takaki's personality, and that's probably the reason why we've met here.

You should fix your first love. Even if it's far away, I believe there is still hope. Try to do anything to get it back and it's time to stop blaming yourself. This experience can you only see the truth if not trying is worth it.

You can still turn things around.

    ~Distant friend

  • @bloodthirstyalucard Thanks. Thank you for your time.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard and it scared me. I really appreciate your time talking to a complete stranger like me. Thank you again and God bless.

  • @bloodthirstyalucard BTW, was it really Akari that Takaki saw in the ending?

  • @bloodthirstyalucard BTW, what do you mean that Takaki lost to his pride? I don't have much time to read the novel or the manga right now. I would really appreciate it and it would really help me recover from my depression if you could tell me what really happened. Thanks again.

  • @jokerarayko

“All I wanted was the strength to protect her. With that thought in my mind, I continued to gaze out over the landscape beyond the window…forever.”

    ~Takaki Tōno

  • @jokerarayko

He thought that he would never see Akari again due of his current state (since he was still very young at that time). After he moved he forced himself to move on due to his depression and pretended to not see his true self (again because he thought that there's no hope that he can see her again). Some people say that they both stopped sending each other letters because it would make them feel more distanced.

  • @jokerarayko

I think however, that it was Takaki who first stopped sending letters (novel, manga or watch the ending of the movie where they were running into their mailbox). They then reached the point where they start drifting and were both expecting to receive a letter. Takaki expected that Akari would send a letter (in some case that can happen but not always) when he haven't even replied to her yet (again another form of pride).

  • You have to admit he was being a retarded beta. Not that this music is bad though.

  • A 7 PERSONAS LAS VIOLARON DE NIÑOS :(

  • @SLAYERIBAN faggot

  • 7 people don't know good music :P

  • So what if I'm a guy and cried at this anime... so what huh? Don't judge me!

  • @ApepItsirk33

You're not alone bro :) This song just fits perfectly to the ending of "5 centimeters per second". It was just amazing and beautiful...

  • Proof that words are useless when communicating feelings...

  • One of the most beutiful songs I've probably ever heard. makes me wonder where in life I will end up.

  • Like the way I want to live. but with a bad end.... (cry)

  • I cry everytime I hear this song...not just because of 5 centimeters per second but also because it reminds me so much of someone ....

  • sou do brasil. linda musica escutem tambem music mas triste del word ( bruno silva RN 1) letra no site poemas de amor.

  • please stop chopping onions in my room ;_;

  • Why did it suddenly started raining...? ;_:

  • A heartwarming song if you ask me but sad as well specially since it was being played toward the end of the movie.

  • A really sad song.

  • ow my heart

  • vocals made me giggle a little.

  • this song messes with me so much, i like this young woman and i know she likes me too a lot, but she is married although unhappy and has a daughter. She decided it was best for both of us to let it go and continue with our lives. I know i could made her happy but she wanted her daughter to be happy...

I wonder why Tono smiles at he end? Maybe he realized it was time to move on?

  • @Picollo30 Do you want to know? It's because that's the only thing that he could have done. To run after Akira would be running after your past. Your past was, in some sense, your interpretation of reality. He no longer knows who she is anymore; neither does he know himself. Lost and emotionally defeated; you can only feel happy that she existed.

  • @SlightlyRaisedEyebro

    lol, Akira?

  • do you have a download link for this??

  • english subtitle.... please

  • Lyrics have such a deep meaning.. it touched me to the heart.

  • first time i heard this in the anime i cried my eyes out

  • somehow, can't get the song out of my head

  • I burst into tears when this came on in the film. The montage was so beautiful, and this totally enhanced it. Beautiful <3

  • If it wasn't for this song, I wouldn't have liked 5cm per second so much. imo.

  • I'm not a fan of romantic stuff but this anime just left me speechless at every sight. It's so beautiful <3 And bittersweet. Don't get me started on the music.

  • Guys ill admit im a guy and i cried after seeing this show/anime it was a good one too.

Best ive ever seen. This song just made it better on the last show and my one question to the aouther an the characters is why she didn't look back. :(

  • @XXXZITROXXX Okay let me ask you a question if you were that girl who was supposed to marry someone (Who she might actually be in love with) and she looked back "Then what?", would she leave her fiance and go with the main character or will she run away and pretend she did not see him so both of them could finally move on.

  • @XXXZITROXXX you're the man! :))

  • like it?love it?

no,i would say,i can't stop listening to it,it becomes my oxygen

  • Wow this is an amazing song and really good lyrics. When I listened to the song I was crying when it almost ended. It really touched something in my heart and make me wanted cry. Great song that it could do so much with me.

  • sei tocar ela no violão *----*

  • and here come the emotions again

  • i like it

  • look my vids !

  • There should be more music like this. This song will last a long time, unlike today's mainstream. It's beautiful, and it's heart touching. It's a song that people can relate to, it's lovely.

  • Whenever i'm feeling like I hate the world I watch this film.

And then I remember how beautiful the sky can look, the clouds, the stars, the moon. How beautiful tears can look, how beautiful the past can look. I settle down and watch the entire thing through, maybe have a good cry.

Every person can relate to this, because all of us miss someone who isn't there anymore. All of us miss the past.

  • Does anyone know what is the name of this song when it is being converted into malay version?

  • T_T...

  • The anime is so sad!!!!!!!

  • @terror18100 Yeah, but it's so true. This is very beautiful story and unfortunately very true. But I love this anime :)

  • When thinking with his mind (Yamazaki), he knows that he won't get to see her except with a miracle. But when he gets back to his heart, he keeps looking for her!

That happens when you can not accept and believe the truth, it's a completely real psychological condition. It's a sad situation to be in. It's a song from the heart, not nonsense.

  • this is the real trraslation of this song? please tell me

  • @melmanator05 as far as i understand its a pretty accurate translation. It's not a poem written to accompany the song if thats what you mean.

  • That sound good and the meaning is wonderful

I found my friend who I fell in love with back when i was still just a elementary student. I found her on Facebook, and we chatted for hours catching up. • I swear to god this song... ugh, just breathtaking

  • This song is great!!!

  • The guy who did the anime/ova thing this was taken from is a genius. The only problem I have are all the movies I've seen of his are so depressing. 5/5

  • The song wasnt made for the anime =p, its by Masayoshi Yamazaki, it came out back in 97

  • Better than anything you'll hear on local radio stations.

  • That's for sure.

  • @windguardien This is true even 2 years later.

  • @windguardien I honestly wish local radio stations would play songs like this... it's far better than whatever vulgar, shallow stuff they're usually playing :/
