  • Can you believe that there's people who say that they play rock n roll and DON'T know who Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, and Howlin Wolf are?

  • Ignorance on the part of a white person who probably hasn't had any interactions with people of color... PRICELESS! I hope it doesn't effect your past comment but for the record I'm caucasian: I apologize an ignorant person such as yourself probably doesn't know what caucasian means, let me help you out. It's the scientific term for people of our "race." I apologize for being one of few white people who's unwilling to put this dude on a pedestal. Clearly you don't see the bigger picture.

  • Black Americans have virtually given everything to white Americans, don't be in denial of it my fellow white brothers, don't be in DENIAL.

    Boo diddly.

    *boo cackle*

  • what song is this, anybody know?

  • I like The Dutchess.

  • @truekingofrock: how is it possible for Elvis to have "brought Anglo sexy straight ahead to Roll" since Elvis isn't descendant from Angles. I get your point Elvis is more famous cause he is more "white" but the post-modern use of Anglo as a catch all is no better than the classical use of negroid as a catch all. A good lot of people who have European ancestors are not Angles or Anglo-Saxons, I think you'll find the term Anglo only accurately describes the English.

  • Geile Tolle

  • when i come to power the 14 imbeciles who dissliked this video will die slow and painfull deaths.

  • that is a sick guitar

  • Tom Petty said it best. "you know Elvis is king, but Diddley is daddy"

  • 14 people are deaf and dumb

  • Love the way the duchess moves and plays, she looks fantastic.

  • Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Led Zeppelin and every other Rock act ever owe everything to Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. They took the R&B sound gave it a little kick and a bit of a twist and the rest is history. I dread to think what the musical landscape would have been like had it not been for the influence of these guys. Truly inspiring, truly "The Kings of Rock and Roll".

  • One of the first Rock legends

  • rock n Mufuggin Roll!

  • 11 people don't like real Rock n' Roll

  • BBC

  • Phenomenal!! If you want a slice of the period, yet done today, spend a few minutes and watch: Vintage Trouble, the music video "Nancy Lee"

    Enjoy!

  • i want all of you to know that i will keep this mans music alive through my band. My bassist happens to be a mirror image of his grandfather, Bo diddley, and has the talent coursing through his veins. This i swear

  • i must have listened to this a thousand time over the last few weeks, and it keeps getting better. yeoooooooooooooooooo

  • i've been listening to this about fourteen times a day since i found it last week. the 11 people who disliked this song should be rounded up and shot. WHATS NOT TO LIKE? its perfect. no one these days could ever come close to making a 50 second song anyone would think of buying.

  • No Bo ? No Jimi !

  • OMg I use to see this guy all the time around my neigherborhood in Florida.. Little did I know that my great niece is actually his great grand-daughter, weird how that works out, uh???

  • the originator Bo is the origin of everything after

  • Even with the old quality, you can tell that he's going to town on those strings.

  • a guitar just can't make more rock and roll than this. fucking thing's about to explode. he's god.

  • @SpaceBambino its called Rock and Roll you added a word.

  • @SpaceBambino Its also blues :P

  • @murggik

    HELL YEAH!!!1

  • see his haircut?

    now that's called "modern fashion".

  • AMAZING!!!

  • His guitar looks a lot like the gretsch Jack white current plays in The Dead Weather? Did gretsch make another one inspired by him other than the Bo Diddely slide?

  • @FleurJuice Yes, they reissued that guitar, calling it the Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird. "Billy", because many years after this was recorded, Bo gave Billy Gibbons the exact guitar he is playing here. Originally Gretsch only made a couple of these (Bo's design) and a few years ago Billy let Gretsch study it and re-issue it.

  • thats a gretch or at least gretch pickups

  • he is a true GUITAR MASTER. he invented funk and psychedelic at the same time, whether intentionally or unintentionally. he is a LEGEND.

  • Every body my name is Brandon Maxwell and i am proud to say that i am in this mans shadow. This man has a grandson named Darious Mcdaniel who i believe is the image of Bo diddley. Darious is a bassist in my band and i swear that we will not let this mans music be forgotten

  • @ultimategu Awesome! Post some vids!

  • @ultimategu No one will

  • Some one Please explain to my why Elvis is considered "The King Of Rock and Roll"?

nothing in this world could be further from the truth.

Click my user name and watch the new youtube doccumentary :

"the True Kings of Rock and Roll"

  • cause he started it all thats why when no one else was singing it. try 1953 idiot

  • @doggieman1961 well, you have your time frame off by about 50 years.

Eubie Blake wrote and sang "rock me baby" back in the late 1800's

as in "Rock me baby, lawd lawd no body rocks me like my baby do"

Just watch my series and learn the truth.

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK

    1800's... maybe Monroe sponsored him!

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK EXACTLY ! ! ! ! ! Chuck Berry for my money and Bo Diddly, then as far a pianists go, Little Richard without doubt. It's race & media interpretation.

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK I agree the two kings id say are Bo didley and Chuck berry, and i ,ve a hard time separating them

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK Elvis didn't call himself the King of Rock (but I sure do). Bo called himself The Originator.

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK

Bo was cool and brought the Afro-boogie to Rock but Elvis came from the other side and brought Anglo sexy straight ahead to Roll. Check out "Elvis Presley just the best in Tupelo" on uTube

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK Because that's the way the marketing machine works. The artists are represented by organizations that use hyperbole to sell their 'product', and that will always be. Michael Jackson was called the 'King of Pop', not because pop music could possibly be summed up by the talents of just one artist (especially someone who came along as late in its history as he did), but because that's what the white collar guys wanted to use as a caption to sell more Michael Jackson albums.

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK nononononono they're wrong he was considered king because of the racism back then, blacks didn't have a chance

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK the real reason is because Elvis was the first white guy to pull of so-called black music.

have you seen Pat Boone try to pull of Tutti Fruiti? Pathetic

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK that's becaue Elvis was the first white guy to play so-called black music

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK its all rock n roll dipshit. elvis is the king. get over it.

  • @1288dallas Elvis ain't got no soul. Bo Diddley is Rock and Roll. You may dig on the Rolling Stones but they didn't come up with that shit on their own.

  • @JandritoBlues i dont dig on the rolling stones. if you have to know robert johnson is the original king of rock. without him we have nothing.

  • @1288dallas NO LOUIS JORDAN IS !!

  • @THEMOJOMANsince1959 if that helps you sleep at night. all rock was created from ROBERT JOHNSON.

  • @TrueKiNGofROCK hush white folks listenin haha Yessa Elvis da Kang suh. lmao

  • @mistabigg007 Elvis LOVED all those guys PLUS he brought R&R to the forefront. And Rem this the Guitar didn't come from Africa. Way back there the only music on the radio was country music from WSM in nashville in the south,,Black people heard it AND DID IT THEIR WAY,,,thus we got Jump Blues,,then on to Rock & Roll. I really never cared for Elvis my self but THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH. WSM started in the 20's

  • Father of Punk!

  • Bo, your'e amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • this is awesome xD the women loved him hahaha!

  • bo selecta!

  • Great stuff!!!! Watch my video!!!

  • blown away man the true kingxxxxx

  • oh yea

  • My understanding is that punk was a rebellion against art rock and space rock -- bands such as Emerson Lake and Palmer and Pink Floyd, the really elaborate, overblown stuff of the early seventies. Punk was a return to the basics, the essence of rock and roll. So this video represents that core rock and roll music punk was getting us back to. Bo Diddley is essential rock and roll!

  • @deathofamailman you like it ? what ever art should never be humanised ...

play and express thta is the way .

  • I don't understand what you mean by "humanized."

  • @deathofamailman

Punk was more about rebellion than style.

  • I agree. That's why I started with "My understanding is that punk was a rebellion..."

  • @deathofamailman

It wasn't a rebellion against prog, though. It was a rebellion against "the government" and anything that wasn't anarchic.

  • I agree totally about their views on the government and anarchy. However, look at the old clips of Lyden wearing the mutilated Pink Floyd shirt, and there's the fact that when the clash started playing together as kids, they refused to play any songs written after 1959. It was a rebellion against how complicated the music had gotten -- and it was probably rooted in class issues.

  • @deathofamailman

Actually, Rotten was a HUGE fan of Hawkwind and Van der Graaf Generator.

  • That's cool. I didn't know that. Still, I think the Sex Pistols et al rebelled against the ethos of the extended and complicated guitar and drum solos, and the (sorry) self-indulgent noodling that those bands exemplified.

  • @deathofamailman

I think musicianship is important in music; I don't see why it's labeled 'self-indulgence' when a band focuses on instrumentation just as much as quality songwriting. Is the work of Beethoven self-indulgent noodling? What about Miles Davis? Is he pretentious? What about Stravinsky and Coltrane?

  • I see your point. I don't know that Beethoven was known for his extended solos, but I'll surely grant you Miles and Coltrane. Honestly, I do think it's self-indulgent and worse, boring. I love Jimmy Page, but I can't sit through 1/2 of "Dazed and Confused" and the violin bow. I can't sit through drum solos, either. I think punk got punk back to the short songs, and they were so simple that a young kid could express him/herself without being hindered by their own musical limitations.

  • @deathofamailman

Alright, fair enough. I'll agree with that.

Still, I think punk was more image than music.

  • I'd be glad to shake on that.

  • @deathofamailman

Sex pistols' goal was getting famous with the smallest musical input & talent as possible and make people believe that this has something to to with rebellion.

Now they are an mediocre oldie-band with not much to offer

  • @2009framat Mediocre they are not - im Gegensatz zu Deinem Werbe Schrot(t)

    :0|

  • @01geTnM

  • @ClassicRockSovereign Lots of punks hated prog rock

  • @deathofamailman

That's supposed to be the story, but I've actually always felt like most punk missed the boat. Bo Didley's music was powerful, sure, but it wasn't about temper tantrums. It was more about dancing and feeling good. The generation that claimed rock n roll as its own, grew up and wanted to try incorporating new sounds within it. Interestingly, seems like Pink Floyd's music has outlasted that of most punk bands.

  • This aint punk but it did motivate British garage punk (like the Monks, the Scientists and Thee Milkshakes). Bo had more influence on 60's - 70's (Stones and Kinks) than any of the A- or B- list punk of 70's - 80's.

Heavy metal is an inoffensive melodic derivative of Hardcore. Modern radio-friendly (uninspired) R&R music and style tenuously trace back to west-coast punk through the pessimistic Grunge of the 80's-90's, tainted by ethnic Rap along the way, though Grunge was mostly original.

  • your a stupid piece of shit

  • Gee, thanks.

Stooges and MC5 are Psychadelia, which shows Bo influence. The main intersection of Psychadelic & Punk was in the garage band revival during the punk movement.

I'd never heard of Titus, but looks like they're trying to revive the original Brit punk, at least in tone, but they're style appears to be the (stale) faux poverty angst. Lyrics about sex & cigarettes are poor substitutes for rants against aristocracy, tyranny, and negligent parents. Good energy but not disciples of Bo.

  • your putting it under a microscope. without Bo there wouldn't be no punk. rock and roll came into the 50's and it was a lot cleaner and simpler. Bo is punk.

  • @pantherlix PsychEdelia

  • You can't forget Bo's massive influence on The Velvet Underground and The Stooges. His driving sound was all over their early work, especially VU.

  • Oh what year?!

  • no punk copied rock and roll not the other way round imitation is sincere flattery punk is great but rock and roll is first with the mostest

  • someone should re-upload this as 'Bo Diddley invents punk'

  • @HolyFerdinand

I just uploaded my tribute to Bo Diddley and the members of his 1st band (Billy Boy Arnold & Jerome Green).

It is a BLUESCARTOON of 1 minute duration. I hope you enjoy it. I did the animation & played all instruments.

Any infos about Jerome Green (marracas), Jerome Arnold (bassplayer in the Butterfield Band) & Julio Finn (two of Billy Boy's brothers are welcome

  • It's not punk...

  • @KoivuTheHab you obviously don't know anything.

  • Is that so? and what do you base your views on?

  • do you listen to punk? if you do it would be obvious that this is where it came from. listen to the stooges listen to MC5 listen to Titus Andronicus. I dont even know how you could say that its not punk.

  • Yeah I've listened to punk a good 15 years. I know all those bands, we were talking about Bo Diddley now, besides it is highly debatable that those bands you mentioned are punk, you could categorize them as proto punk at best. Just because punk has it's roots in this kind of music doesn't mean it is punk. Punk started in the 70's, there was no punk in the 60's.

  • if your going to argue that this doesn't sound like punk then your a fuckin ass licker.

  • Well isn't that mature, you have a lot to learn kid, come back when have something decent to say and when you are actually able to back up your words. Oh and learn how to talk, you keep saying ' your ' instead of ' you're '. Go back to school you ignorant child.

  • we arguing about if Bo invented punk not how well i can spell you stupid jew. you know this is the first signs of punk but you would rather go on google and find some meaningless info and try to debate nonsense. this is the invention of punk and you are the first signs of a boy wit a pussy

  • there was the Garage Punk in 50's & 60's......

  • That term was first used in the 70's by some people, as were much more prominent terms like Garage Beat and Freakbeat. Generaly speaking some people started talking about that music as 'Garage Punk' way after it all happend and after the punk rock scene was risen. The correct and original term used in those days for that kind of music is and forever will be Garage Beat, it isn't punk.

  • Heeeyyyy BO DIDLey!!!

  • this woman guitar player is so hot!!!

  • The Duchess- died a few years ago.

  • Going through the RS 500 one song at a time are we?

    ...I am.

  • better than michael jackson¡¡¡¡

  • Jackson is plastic but Bo's a real badass rock and roller powerhouse.

  • @boybblue H0W CAN Y0U EVEN C0MPARE B0 DIDDLEY T0 MICHAEL JACKS0N THEY ARE FR0M TW0 C0MPLETELY DIFFERENT ERAS AND HAVE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MUSIC. LETS MAKE SENSE ??

  • @alanajsmith09 and ones white and the other black

  • @boybblue impossible. A black man could never be better than a white guy at music
