I'm going to do my 1st build soon. I decided to follow Tom Hardwares $1500.00 build that won the contest. I figure its a good way to not make a mistake in matching components. They used the AsRock mobo and I was wondering if you have any suggestions of where to go to get good instruction on how to pull it all together. I have modest knowledge and hope I'm not getting in over my head. Thanks man, looks like you did a good job.
yeah, fine sofar :) i just flashed to the latest BIOS I am running low voltages so it should be okay for a while. basically stock voltages maybe a slightly bit below @ 3.8ghz.
I never thought I would buy an ASRock board ever, looked like a joke when I had bought my ASUS P5Q deluxe back in the 775 days... But I'm upgrading to a 920 and I want to oc it to roughly 4ghz. Will this board take me there and are two of the pci x16 slots running full bandwidth? Just scary buying a board thats 50 bucks cheaper than others with same specs. It has good rep on newegg.
I would have to say, this board is an awesome buy. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable. Very easy to OC lots of supported RAM, 2 16x PCI-E 2.0 slots.... I could go on and on. I used this with an intel i7 920 and OC'd it to 3.8 stable with a coolermaster V8 and it runs perfectly. No hitches/glitches. I would recommended this for any i7 build....
Where would I put in the powerswitch/powerLED/resetswitch on this board?

Yea.... I'm building it too! The ASUS is Waaaaay overpriced! This is a high-quality board...
just loaded 12gb's of OCZ Gold DDR3,
an i7 920 to be OC'd to 3.7 and cooled with a Mugen 2.
Took some pushing to get the 24-pin connector on, taking a break before hittin' the rest.
oh yea... using the HAF 932 ... so nice and soooo much room!

I'm building with this Board right now! Nice Board and a lot less expensive than the ASUS P6T.
Just installed 12 gb's of OCZ Gold DDR3
and the i7 920 CPU.
Just now trying to figure out whether to install the Mugen 2 cooler before or after installing the MOBO in the HAF 932 case.
