  • FK THIS LASIK SURGERY. CURSE IT!!!!!

  • sorry, what's the music ?

  • Well if we could read the last sentences if it wasn't for the annotation after annotation...

  • EliteDefenseInc: You are so right. Even Dr. Morris Waxler who's team oversaw the clinical FDA approvals is all over the news lately telling/warning people to "NOT GET LASIK AND STICK WITH CONTACTS OR GLASSES..." Of course the pro profit industry, is feeling this money pinch and is trying to discredit him. But that's because they are mad that they aren't going to be making millions any longer, and that this will prompt medical malpractice lawsuits, and criminal prosecutions for their actions.

  • @dkantis yep. These hacks have known all along. It about money. That's it.

  • lets not forget about that Oath you surgeons once took. Remember that one. "FIRST DO NO HARM". A super hot laser that burn your cornea and destroys the important nerves seems like harm. Oh I forgot. You make a very good living from this surgery. You can't possibly come clean about real side effects. YOU ARE 100% biased. Hopefully the FDA who dropped the ball will shut you unethical hacks down one day. Funny that all the FDA guys have glasses.

  • Long term side effects of laser vision surgery are not known. Hmm. that sounds a bit risky with a persons vision. The bowman layer is destroyed. Corneal nerves are destroyed. These are needed for the correct function of the lacrimal gland. All laser vision surgeon know this. They down play it because of $. There are almost no laser vision surgeon who have actually gotten the surgery. I wonder why?

  • @EliteDefenseInc You are wrong on many points...first of all we treat the STROMA and never come in contact with Bowmans layer. Maybe YOUR surgeon did!. Second of all modern technology completely avoids the corneal nerve bundles that are responsible for proper hydration of the orbit. Even if the nerve bundles where damaged with OLD technology they regenerate in 3 to 6 months. 3rd the laser is not "super hot". It is a cold laser that ablates tissue not burn. FYI, my bike was only 4 grand

  • @PrinceFarley sorry. The bowmans layer is destroyed. The reason why dry eye is a side effect is because the feedback loop to the lacrimal glands is messed up. The laser destroys some corneal nerves. They don't fully regenerate. Cool laser? lol. Surface ablation is the same thing as surface destruction. How can you possibly not know that? That is truly scary. So then if the magical laser doesn't destroy some of the cornea how is it reshaped? Hmmm. You need to go back to school.

  • @PrinceFarley Nope/ the nerves don't regenerate in three to six months. They never fully regenerate and when they DO they are sporadic. You need to actually research the procedure and not listen to your boss.

  • @EliteDefenseInc When I take a patient back for post -op appointments before the Dr sees them, the first thing I ask them is if they have any dryness or glare. I check their visual acuity and ask what drops ,if any, they are taking. During recovery (first 90 days) half of them state mild symptoms. After 90 days only 2-3 % state they have symptoms. Ask how many contact wearers complain of dryness. The fact is contact lens abuse is far more risky to the eye than Lasik. Look it up!

  • @PrinceFarley so you do have complications. You ZERO complications comment is a lie. You facts are wrong. They are the lasik vision industry "facts". Any ethical doctors knows the truth about laser vision surgery. It a shame that people like you continue to deny scientific facts about laser vision surgery. It only about money with you hacks. What a shame to the medical profession. I now understand why most REAL doctors laugh at you all.

  • @PrinceFarley "The fact is contact lens abuse is far more risky to the eye than Lasik."

This is the most ridiculous thing you have said so far. Actually it is a down right LIE. I have exposed you for your true colors. A LIAR! Goes with your industry though. One thing I can promise you. As the number of people you all hurt increases, someone will get payback. When a person life and career is ruined by you dishonest hacks they will get payback. It just a matter of time.

  • @PrinceFarley so you once again contradict yourself. lol. 3% complication rate. No mind you that this is grossly understated by you shills. The example of a successful in to see 20/20. You don't even take statistics on any thing else. This is so far from correct science it's funny.

  • @PrinceFarley dear fucking GOd. Look at the definition of ablation you idiot. You are in charge of the lasers? We are all fucked.

  • @EliteDefenseInc Websters.......Ablate. the removal, esp. of organs, abnormal growths, or harmful substances, from the body by mechanical means, as by surgery. ......................................No where does it state by heat. I have held my hand under the laser for the same amount of time it takes to treat the eye. nothing more than a tingle. we work with microns ( 1/1000 of a mm). average treatment is 20-60 microns.

  • @PrinceFarley the laser removes part of the cornea. REMOVES. In this removal the corneal nerves are also damaged. The corneal nerves serve a purpose. They are needed to complete the feedback loop with the lacrimal glands. Once again your magic laser damages these nerves for LIFE. You really need to study a bit more about how the procedure works. I can't believe you are actually qualified to work on these laser if you don't know that.

  • @EliteDefenseInc I graduated with honors from a private college and have an above average I.Q. what do you do?

  • @PrinceFarley lol. Sure. If you have an "above" IQ then I am the smartest man in the world. Try and get a refund on your tuition then. They did a horrible job teaching you fact from fiction. You might want to also read some unbiased reports on laser vision correction. Not the propaganda your company gives you. Then again you fit the profile to a tee. It is far from unusual for anyone in the laser vision industry to actually regurgitate facts. Such a foreign concept to you unethical hacks.

  • @PrinceFarley Have you ever seen pictures of corneal nerves before and after treatment? Confocal microscopy proves that the nerves are damaged. Do your homework before you continue to damage more eyes. Read the Hippocratic Oath.

I still think its funny as fuck that you claim ZERO complications. You are either a liar or an idiot. Which one is it?

  • Respond to this video... lol. What? So you don't think HEAT can ablate anything? ahahah. Please find another career. A janitor would probably be more suitable for you.

  • @EliteDefenseInc No idiot...I gave you the definition of ablation.......you can ablate tissue with erosion, scraping, brushing and yes heat. Dude you are pissed because you had a poor outcome and want to take on the industry. You are a tiny fraction of the population that has had issues. Why didnt you do your homework before getting it is it is so risky. Do you think I would have had my family and friends have lasik for FREE if it were so risky. I refuse to discuss the issue with further

  • @PrinceFarley Run from the real issues. Typical of your industry. You are fucking right I'm pissed. My life and career were ruined by fucking assholes just like you. The job of a surgeon is to properly screen and give REAL informed consent. Why should you assholes do it though? there is no accountability if you don't You are protected by a corrupt system. It starts with the FDA who are bought and paid for by the industry. Like I said before. Someone will get pay back on you fucks one day.

  • You are lucky we are not face to face right now. I can promise you that. When a man loses everything he has nothing to lose.

  • @PrinceFarley you are even an MD. You are a lowly laser Tech. Do you even need a GED to do your job? lol. why do I even ask. Of course not. It's the LASER VISION INDUSTRY. The failures of real medicine.

  • lasikcomplications com

  • I have seen the pictures of metallic debris in my eye after lasik, freaks me out! The folks at LasikMD were I had the procedure done by Dr. Keon Nia refued to acknowledge that there was any debris behind the flap. They tell you ahead of time that there is a possibility of debris - make it sound very small. EVERYBODY THAT GETS LASIK HAS SOME FORM OF DEBRIS BEHIND THE FLAP. Why do lasik docs keep being so dishonest? this is not safe!

  • @lasikruinedme I've had constant pain and terrible vision since my lasik procedure over one year ago.

  • @lasikruinedme who the hell still uses a blade to do the procedure???? WAY OUTDATED technology

  • Sounds like you're more concerned about the money. You keep talking about them "MAKING THE MILLIONS"" MAKING THE MILLIONS" "MAKING THE MONEY". If this is a consumer advocate video you should stay off of the money aspect and just concentrate on the public safety aspect.

  • DON'T GET LASIK. Beside : USAeyes has no different side than the other greedy clinics do not listen to them. They just figured out the best selling tactics. Try to warn a patient about lasik complications on their website, they will ban you in a second.

  • ok mother had lasik she doesn't have des

  • LASIK will never he safe, here's proof on these websites: LifeAfterLasik LasikComplications Lasik-Flap LasikSucks4u2 LasikFDA Lasik Facebook LasikNewsWire EyeFreedom NoBlur TheLasikReport Need more proof?
  • Thank you so much. I have pretty high myopia. There arent many behavioral optometrist that will help you improve your eyesight naturally but there are soo soo many laser eye surgeons who will mutilate your eyes. I always suspected this was the case. Try to find a behavoral optometrists.

  • Dr. Keon Nia of LasikMD here in Canada ruined my vision and my pain free life. My life is completely over because these guys are doing an unsafe procedure and don't give a damn about patent health!

  • well they do tell you things might get fucked up during or after the sergery its not like there saying its 100% worked for me and everyone else i know who got it done

  • No pain no gain is an old cliche, but one that holds true in the world of laser eye treatment. PRK hurts like hell for a couple of days but you don't have a flap to worry about.

There is a reason the US Military uses PRK in lieu of the cheaper LASIK.

  • LASIK centers, their staff and doctors, aren't reporting all of you that are hurt into the mandatory "Adverse Event" reporting system called Medwatch. They aren't reporting you because they don't want you to sue them and they don't want the LASIK GRAVY TRAIN of money to end and be shut down. They know it's not safe, but the money is too good to pass up. Websites warning you below to hear the truth are:

    LifeAfterLasik

    LasikComplications

    LasikNewsWire

    TheLasikReport

    LasikSucks4u2

  • I am the voice of the opposition....I have been doing Lasik for years and can honestly tell you that I have NEVER seen a single case of "lost" or "impaired" vision after surgery. I am no bullshitter and tell it like it is. Our enhancement rate in only 3% and I have personally assisted in thousands of surgeries. My question to you is...did you have microkeratome (blade) lasik or laser flap technology?? What are your symptoms?? Have you researched enhancements??

  • Every enhancement is supposed to be filed to the FDA so they know about it, through Medwatch. Failure to do this, should have prompted your office being shut down and every LASIK center! Did you even know this? Contact Timothy Ulatowski, Compliance Director/FDA and learn what you guys are doing in violation of the Hippocratic Oath daily. You have ruined your patients lives, and they pay the price daily. Repent!

  • you didnt answer a single question

  • @PrinceFarley I'm sure you would never actually get the surgery that you praise. Funny that I can't find any laser vision surgeons who actually get it. hmm I wonder why.

  • @EliteDefenseInc I had Custom Intralase done 5 years ago. Not a single symptom since. I had moderate myopia ( - 3.50 ) with mild astigmatism. Both fully corrected by the treatment. Countless family and friends of mine have had the surgery as well. I am sorry you had poor results, I would look at the surgeon and the technology you had for answers. Our Center has a flawless record for 12 years.

  • @PrinceFarley flawless? right. What about dry eyes? what about night vision problems? What about corneal problems? It is IMPOSSIBLE that you have a flawless record. You might down play patient problems but their is NO WAY there are not problems. I had prk. I was never warned that I was a risky patient. Why would they warn me? There is no accountability of surgeons who don't give proper informed consent. You know you are protected by the system.

  • @EliteDefenseInc You said " I was never warned I was a risky patient". There is your answer.....again look to your surgeon for the answer NOT the technology. We have a 23 % non-candidacy rate. we turn people away every day. our guidelines for who is a candidate are more strict than the FDA. We will not do surgery on people who are not good candidates....THAT is why we DO have a flawless record. Everone experiences some level of TEMPORARY dryness during recovery. Contact abuse is more risk

  • @PrinceFarley ok sure. Might you be a tad bit biased? lol. Money persuades you "doctors" to look the other way. This happens over and over. Every single eye you hacks use that laser on is hurt. Every single one. It burns the corneal nerves. It kills them. They are never the same. Do a shirmers test on any laser vision patient. Guess what? The tear volume goes down in every single one. Now why is that. You hacks destroy the corneal nerves with you "amazing" laser.

  • @PrinceFarley You don't even know the long term effects of that laser. Sounds like great idea. YOu destroy the BOWMAN layer. That is there for a reason. Do you even understand that? Probably not. You have that nice motorcycle from this procedure. You are corrupted by greed. Reread that oath you took. Think about for awhile. Then think about the fact that my life has been ruined by you colleges.

  • @EliteDefenseInc for the record....I am not the surgeon....I run the Intralase and Visx Lasers. You probably make more money than I do!

  • @PrinceFarley you are a liar if you say you have a "flawless" laser. Doesn't surprise me though. It comes with the laser vision industry. LIES!!

  • I wish I had never got this procedure done, my life use to be heaven now It is a living hell. Double vision, extreme dry eyes ,overcorrection you name it I got It.

  • In reality the whole eye care industry is about money. I believe that there are natural ways to prevent and even reverse nearsightedness. However our doctors that are supposed to help our eyes ruin them by giving us glasses and contact lenses. We become dependent on the lenses and our eyes become weak. After years of suffering with corrective lenses we turn to dangerous laser surgery. That screws are eyes up even more, and we are doomed to a life time of eye problems.

  • Exactly very few optomestrist use the bates method or reduced lenses with eye excercises cuz then when you dont need glasses or anything anymore, they dont get money its a huge corrupt evil evil thing.

  • Thanks for the video. Unfortunately human beings are programmed from birth to live in a pseudo-realistic fantasy world. Fewer than 1% of the people viewing your site will ever understand that there is presently NO safe vision corrective solution other than lenses.

Big corporations, government and religion will always keep human beings in the confines of their perceived reality; and NOT actuality!

  • it sucks. Corrective lenses (glasses/contacts) aren't always safe either. Contacts can lead to infections, and both almost always lead to further deterioration of vision.

  • Since my life and career are over b/c of laser vision correction I am dedicating the rest to fight these criminal. I will do everything in my power to shut them down. I will spend my last dollar fighting them.

  • WE need a lot more than just a few to fight these SOB's...people need to come out from all over, suing, complaining, issuing Medwatch LASIK complaints, so that they are publicly filed and issued Case Numbers. Until then, a few complaining isn't helping. Recent Long-Term LASIK studies, are looking for hurt LASIK patients to fill out this form, goto website: LifeAfterLasik, fill out form.

  • Thanks for posting this. I want to file a complaint with the FDA.

  • Wonder why no lasik doctors never get the surgery themselves? Hmm I wonder why?

  • you're wrong. you're just trying to keep people from getting lasik eye surgery. you were the dumb one to get it before looking into it. before lasik you should look into it, who is doing the lasik. not all eye doctors are evil! you need to ask all family members if they have done lasik eye surgery. and if nobody in your family qualifies, don't do it! that could cause serious damage to your eyes that just don't show when they do tests to see if you qualify.

only about 1.5% of people have problems

  • Your emotions are clouding your good judgement. None of us that did LASIK were "dumb ones" or stupid. The only thing that we made the mistake with, was in trusting "false clinical studies" that never even justified "FDA Approval." Doubt this? Do more research on my website, 11 years of LASIK research: LifeAfterLasik (com).

  • Thank you for continuing to fight these corrupt butchers.

  • Dean is right when he says LASIK is a harmful surgery and that patients aren't adequately informed of the risks. Read my "Top Ten Reasons Not To Have Lasik Surgery" located on my channel or visit my website for a real eye-opener.

  • you need to have a good doctor. my doctor had a cross hanging above his desk. that made me feel a little bit better. you should look into your doctor. It took me 6 weeks before I could find a doctor with a good enough record and one that seemed trustworthy.

and yes, there may be 10 reasons not to get lasik, but less then 1% of people in Texas have problems after surgery. and anyways, most of those are all minor that can be fixed, and don't even involve bad vision!

  • Name all the people who have committed suicide because they had Lasik. I've challenged Dean Kantis (the guy who posts all these anti-Lasik videos) to do that for over a year -- and he hasn't.

It's a simple question, Dean. Name all the people (or at least 10) who have committed suicide because of Lasik. It should be easy, if you say there are so many.

Dean won't. Because he can't. Instead he'll go off ranting about his own bad experience and keep trying to collect money from his Lasik doctor.

  • This video is complete rubbish, do not believe anything in it!

I had LASIK 2 months ago, & I think it's fantastic. Make sure you choose the correct flap-cutting technique (all-laser, as opposed to the old-fashioned microkeratome blade), choose the best laser (German or Japanese made are the best / most accurate, do NOT choose American lasers - they're not as good), & make sure you get an experienced surgeon. Problems with halos etc are uncommon these days, as technology

    has improved.

  • I recommend you watch my video about complications of bladeless all-laser LASIK. There are long-term consequences of all forms of LASIK. My website lasikcomplications warns of issues that all patients should be warned about.

  • Read Top Ten Reasons Not to Have LASIK on my channnel.

  • I hope you took the time to also warn the US Military and NASA about the dangers of LASIK, seeing as how they've approved it for their soldiers and astronauts. I can't believe I had to read so much of your anti-LASIK propaganda while I was researching it for myself. I went to a good doctor, had the procedure done and now I have good enough vision to apply to the police force... stop spamming youtube with all your crap... you signed the waiver just like I did, so shut the fuck up.

  • lol the waiver. LAsik Doctors are supposed to make sure you are a good candidate for the procedure. They dont follow proper protocol because they motivated by money. Its a conflict of interests. WE will see how your perfect eyes are in a few years.

  • LASK is a harmful surgery. Patients are not adequately warned of the true risks and adverse surgical effects.

  • Hey that text looks fine to me...

    And Ive never had LASIK

  • Thanks for making this vid, for your courage, your sense of justice, and your generosity in sharing your experience. It is much appreciated.

  • Sorry you feel it's bitching. I'm trying to help you to educate yourself that every LASER is dangerous. The FLAP is permanent and never heals, rather like a Tupperware lid. The microkeratome blade slashes corneal nerves, most never heal, therefore your eyes (even though you have no contacts) aren't able to produce enough natural tears, leaving LASIK victims (from good or bad docs) with a burning sensation and "dry eye spots" never to be cured. Youtube Search: FDA LASIK.

  • HELL NO!

this is bullshit im never taking laser eye treatment if my eyes get bad i'll just get a pair of glasses

  • If anyone is concerned about the consequences of lasik, consider intraoccular lens implants. More expensive, but without cutting a flap or dry eye.

  • Are you the same D. Kantis who has been trying to force lasik doctors to pay you money? The same D. Kantis who was charged with spousal abuse? Dean, it is you, isn't it, you old bastard!

You have to ask how many of these lasik "disasters" happened:

    1. Many years ago when lasik was just starting out.

    2. Were done on the cheap to patients who were bargain shopping for eye surgery.

    3. Are a tiny fraction of the millions of successful surgeries.

  • I also had lasik surgery 9 years ago and have paid a horrible price ever since. I have had a total of 5 surgeries on my eyes. 4 since that first disasterous one. There is a doctor in Baltimore who claims to be one of the best in the counrtry and , who by the way does botox injections in the next room. I wish I had never met this bitch. I regret ever having agreed to anything like this. I just wish I could undo what this witch did to me. It can't be done. I have to live with this handicap

  • So sorry to hear. Unfortunately I get about 5 emails a week hearing about new LASIK victims that now, like me, have no cure. The Lying LASIK industry continues to ignore what they are doing to hurt pilots that fly our planes, school bus drivers that drive our children, and the rest of us that drive cars through intersections...Soon, they and their personal family members will get a taste of what they are doing to hurt the world and what for money...IT will catch up with them!

  • Shit, is it really this bad?

  • Depends who you ask. Most who I have spoken to are happy up to about the 5th year, and then either one or both eyes regress. Then contacts just aren't the same after the FLAP. Then if you're in the really bad percentage, where LASIK didn't work from the beginning, it gets worse every year and there is no cure. The doctors will even admit now, that Dry Eye Syndrome is the number one complication or side effect of LASIK. Dry eyes means pain and no normal tear film to see through, bad vision!!

  • THINKING OF GETTING LASIK? THINK AGAIN AFTER YOU WATCH THESE WEBSITES: LasikNewsWire LasikFraud Lasik-Flap LifeAfterLasik LasikComplications LasikSucks4u2 LasikLiberty FlawedLasik LasikScam DoctorMyeEye VisionSimulations LaserMyEye
  • are star bursts like when ur driving and the headlights of another car like have lines sticking out everywhere? kuz i have glasses and that happens...

  • Many causes for this. First, if you have LARGE PUPILS and a small lens correction zone only correction the central areas, while not correcting the outer periphery, this may cause that. The problem with LASIK and other refractive elective procedures is that the Lying LASIK Docs are NOT INFORMING patients with LARGE PUPILS that you are pretty much GUARANTEED to have incurrable STARBURSTS AND HALOS because they are cutting a flap, blasting a laser, leaving the outer periphery untreated.

  • "Complications may be rare, but if it happens to you, the chances are 100%." Dr. Walter Stark, Johns Hopkins Medical School, as quoted in Consumer Reports, Feb. 1994, "Surgery Instead of Glasses?"

  • If the flap does not heal, how do you explain the sucessful corneal transplants done every year? These transplant have been done many years. The human body is made to heal itself. Many people have to have corneal transplants due to scarring. Scarring is a side effect of healing.

  • The human body can reject corneal transplants as well as any other organ transplant. Cutting a flap in a healthy cornea is unethical.

  • Basically, you have the anti-LASIK people exaggerating everything. Then you have the pro-LASIK people not telling you about the $30-$50 of drops you might have to buy each month to keep your eyes moist. However, I've known people who don't have DES in either eye. I've talked to them. If I have to spend $50 a month for perfect vision, no glasses, no contacts, etc... Well, I'm glad to buy the drops. I call that an excellent trade off.

  • Suicides are not exaggerations, nor is Dry Eye Syndrome. YouTube search: FDA LASIK and listen to the speakers telling the FDA last month that there are an estimated 600,000 ruined American lives, families, from LASIK. A very different amount than the 142 the FDA reported.

  • See! This is just what I am talking about! Now, this guy has that DES is found in 100% of all All-laser LASIK and other LASIK eyes. He has that on the paper. Then he says that 100% have to spent $100 a month to fight DES (dry eye syndrome). I had LASIK a five days ago. If I have to pay $10.99 each for Optive drops for a month, they would last me about 10 days out of each month. Maybe even more. So, That's $30 a month at worse. Give me a break. Dude is lying!

  • Interestingo_0 i never thought there would be bad results.

But, you did go a little too fasto_0

  • Not only are there bad results, say about 35% of the total eyes are having major problems, but the industry is CORRUPT and is purposely reporting false success rates such as the 95%. There have never been long-term studies, because the industry knows that if there has, they would probably be DEAD from so many pissed off patients learning the truth. If I was a LASIK doctor, I would be very, very careful and very worried about ruining another human being's vision because it effects everyone!

  • dkantis, my parents have been in the medical industry for over 40 years of their lives. My mother has researched and talked to the guy who invented the laser that does LASIK. I've read everything under the son about LASIK, and I had LASIK done. Here's the real truth: those 600,000 ruined lives? Most of the time they were told LASIK was a high risk. No doctor wants to lose his license. There is a Medical Board, you know? Half of what you guys say is blown out of proportion.

  • dkantis, I've heard about some of these "RUINED LIVES." Usually, one of these following characteristics can be attributed to them: 1) over 45 with many eye maladies on top of myopia or astigmatism 2.) They get a guy to do their surgery who isn't even a licensed Medical practitioner, not even an Opthamologist, not even an M.D., never even went to a reputable Medical University or college 3.)They were told they would be a high risk and still went through with it!!! Now, these people complain.

  • There is a "brotherhood code" that LASIK doctors have to not go to court or testify against another doctor because they will eventually need a "favor." The FDA held an Emergency LASIK Panel Discussion on April 25th, 2008. Why don't you google or youtube this and discover all of the suicides and suicidal ideation that LASIK is causing. If there is a 5% failure rate and 12 million Americans had LASIK, then we have an epidemic of unknown proportions on our hands. I hope i'm wrong.

  • dkantis, 5% of 10,000,000 is a lot of people. I agree. Still, with that five percent, you need to remember the older people, the people with other eye maladies, the people who didn't use real a real M.D. or eye surgeon, the people who got hit from the side before the flap healed completely and many, many other things that people never talk about. They're just mad they were in that 5%, and they feel victimized. I understand that, too. But, the failures in LASIK or less than heart surgery deaths.

  • Ok, now think about this. What if the 95.4% success rate was really about 55%? There are no clinical qualitative studies to show quality of vision 1,2,4,6,9,11,15 years later. Would you go up in an airplane if it crashed 45% of the time? That is about what I am estimating because there are 2 eyes per person, so really 12 million people is about 24 million eyes. I would be very, very cautious if I was a LASIK Doctor in ruining someone's vision and thus their life...Sooner or later, who knows.

  • dkantis, yeah, I see what you mean, and if I go blind, I'll let you know. But, my last eye test had me at 20/25 and before I was at -5.25 diopters. But, that's only a speculation on the 45% over 15 years. Actually, they did a study in the military of 200 military patients with LASIK, and over a ten year period, only 25% had any noticeable eye-sight regression in ten years. So, that's a 75% success rate on perfect vision for ten years and counting. As for serious complications: almost nil.

  • Most of the clinical studies are misrepresented and skewed since they are done by LASIK medical device manufacturers, period. After we get done soon, hopefully, the FDA will immediately put a Moratorium on LASIK when we come out with some news about the spike of complaints in the Maude/Medwatch database and commission Andrew C. Von Essenbach. Stay tuned. 20/20 isn't good enough when you have Dry Eye pain so badly that it drives you crazy all of the time. Quality studies are needed asap!!

  • dkantis, I'll stay in touch. A year from now if I don't have any dry or complications, I'll let you know.

  • Please do. I hope you are okay and you aren't one of us (in the 30% injured list or failure rate). Good luck!

  • I had lasik- intralase and I have mild to moderate dry eye..it's been six months and I am hoping things will get better. Do you know of any stats regarding post dry eye.....healing times and percentages of patients with long term issues?! Take Care :)

  • The stats the Lying LASIK Quacks will give you are falsified to avoid lawsuits. The most accurate stats I have seen are on the website: lasiknewswire. I would say about 30% of eyes have Dry Eye pain, with no cure. Yes, the docs prescribe drops, but the problem is using them for the long term can really wreak havoc on one's corneal/retina health. Other good websites: lasik-flap, lifeafterlasik, and youtube search: fda lasik. Good luck. Sorry to hear. There are 1,000,000 like us now...

  • Once you pay a Lying LASIK Quack and their commissioned staff $5k, your eyes will NEVER produce as many tears ever again. I'm 9 years out, and every year my eyes burn more, can't tolerate contacts, and produce less tears. It's now an epidemic...These Lying LASIK bastards know this, and keep doing this!! Thousands of hurt patients are very, very upset at these assholes for ruining their vision and their lives and speak of revenge!! I'm amazed nothing has made the news yet...

  • LASIK was the worst decision of my life, it felt like a thousand needles sticking my eyes. They market it like it's painless but it's not. The suction ring felt like it pulled my eyes out of their socket. LASIK promotes permanent conditions with no cure:

    -Dry Eye Syndrome

    -Double Vision

    -Night Halos/Starbursts

  • its been 9 months, how's your vision?

  • daysin1234: "its been 9 months, how's your vision?"

It's perfect. I still perfect. Sometimes, I put a drop in the morning and a drop in at night. Sometimes, for comfort, but I don't have any pain, and I say it was all worth it. It sure beats wearing glasses and losing them. I will probably do a video on it at the year mark. I did do one for the six month mark. Anyway, for me, it was awesome! :) I mean, I was blind as a bat. See perfect, too.

  • would you mind telling me your prescription?

and you dont have any lighting issues? such as night halos? you had standard lasik? you can reply in a pm if you perfer

  • daysin1234: "would you mind telling me your prescription?

and you dont have any lighting issues? such as night halos? you had standard lasik? you can reply in a pm if you perfer"

As for my prescription, I was around 6 diopters (plus or minus) and extremely nearsighted. It was horrible. I could not drive without glasses at all. As for all those side fx - at 9 months - I don't have any. A lot of these people had screwed up laser machines and quack doctors (the 5% with bad results)? Heard that.

  • My surgeon did 5,000 onocular surgery prior to me and the clinic i went to is the most popular in the city.

I wasnt a bad candidate, i was a good one they said, so i guess we can say its very controversial, no one else i know has had it longer than 5 years, those who are at the 5 year mark still love it.

  • how is you night vision?

Im thinking about having LASIK myself

  • My night vision is fine. I'm around ten months post-op, and I use to be blind as a bat. I see perfect. I see fine at night. I don't have any star bursts or any of those problems people talk about on the internet. I had the Custom Vue Lasik done. Vis X laser. For me, it has been a wonderful thing to see like this and not have to worry about glasses or contacts.

  • Make sure you check your doctor out. Make sure he is a good doctor and has experience with the equipment. I had a really good doctor. Also, you get what you pay for. I paid $3,000, and I had a really good surgeon to do mine. I wouldn't risk my eyes with one of those fly-by-night laser eye places.

  • I had my procedure at one of the country's most famous hospitals, done with a wonder laser, newest technology etc....and I now have eyes like the Sahara Desert on fire. Guess I was just one of the unlucky 5%. It's not worth it to risk eyesight or comfort to have LASIK.

  • Tique, I'm sorry you had such a bad outcome. God Bless you and keep you. Much love. :(

  • daysin1234, a lot of these side FX are not applicable to CustomVue Lasik. It's a new one. At least, it was when I had it done nine months ago. I have none of these side FX that are in this video. Now, the only thing I do notice is you can get in a habit of using the drops. I probably could go without them, but I've gotten so use to using them that I drop maybe three or four drops in a day. Only one in at night and one when I get up. But, for me, it was worth it. See perfect for my lifestyle.

  • its funny you mention the custom lasik, i met someone at my gym who got the custom (at the same clinic as me) and has the same problems as me, except first time she was undercorrected so had to get a second surgery.

  • daysin1234: "its funny you mention the custom lasik, i met someone at my gym who got the custom (at the same clinic as me) and has the same problems as me, except first time she was undercorrected so had to get a second surgery."

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've heard some bad things. But, for me, it worked fine. Of course, you do hear a lot of horror stories. I'll be satisfied at 10 years. Ask me then. lol

  • I just know for me my HOA problems have gotten worse, during the day my glare is like a regular persons nighttime glare and my nighttime glare is double.

  • daysin1234: "I just know for me my HOA problems have gotten worse, during the day my glare is like a regular persons nighttime glare and my nighttime glare is double."

The way I saw it was... nothing could be worse than my bad vision prior to the surgery. I was blind as a bat, and to be honest... I don't think it will ever digress to that. If it's just half as well as my prior vision, I'm happy with it. Because, I was blind as a bat.

  • Good luck in the future then, truly

  • daysin1234: "Good luck in the future then, truly"

Thank you for your kind words. Honestly, if someone didn't have that bad of vision like I did, I wouldn't tell them to have this surgery. I wouldn't want to be the one to send them in and them come out being 5% of the failures. You know? It's not something I'd feel comfortable with. I'm just blessed I've had such a good outcome. Of course, I prayed during the surgery, so maybe that helped.

  • Hey man, I get the feeling things are done very different here in England. I was told that I would have a low probability of success (left -11.25 right -10.5) because of my severe prescription. Warned me that I may well end up with worse vision. They even told me of the possibilities of halo's and double vision. So I opted against it following there advice. Instead I got me some nice new glasses with some Nikon ultra thin lenses (£560 just for lenses) I now have brilliant vision!

  • good job mate

  • alright!

  • dkantis, 5% of 10,000,000 is a lot of people. I agree! Still, in that five percent, you need to remember the older people, the people with other eye maladies, the people who didn't use a real M.D. or eye surgeon, the people who got hit from the side before the flap healed completely and many, many other things that contribute to serious complications. They're just mad being in 5%, and they feel victimized. I understand that, too. But, the failures in LASIK are lower than heart surgery deaths.

  • Check this out. YouTube: FDA LASIK and watch all of the speakers crying out, begging the FDA, to put a Moratorium on LASIK, and complaining on suicides and how the LASIK doctors lie and cover for each other. Lastly, if I was a LASIK doctor and ruined someone's vision and then lied, I would be very, very, very nervous.

  • dkantis, the thing is... I go on google, and google all o this, and all I see is your crap without any support what so ever. Your videos. For all I know, you're an ambulance chasing lawyer, and who in their right mind would have so many LASIK videos on their youTube VLOG? Hmmm... Also, where is the documented evidence of Tiger Wood's and his wife's LASIK complications, and why is he winning the U.S. Open as of last week? You got to be crazy!

  • this video was so helpful thanks!

i wanted lasik but im 17 but by the time im ol enough say 25, the technology will definatly improve so the surgery can be done 100% safer!

Thanks for the video, great help!

  • Good for you! First and foremost you are way too young for LASIK or any refractive surgery. The most important thing is to know that they all "thin" out your cornea, causing your eye to exponentially/accelerate the aging process. If contacts bother you, try the Ortho K contacts you sleep with and leave out during the day! Either way, I'm glad you are open minded and smart enough to NOT have LASIK and create a FLAP for life that does NOT heal! Kudos! God bless...

  • Lasik may be safer in the future. There's still so much doctor's don't know about it. I say about 10 or 15 years down the road they will have the technoligy to correct your vision 100% safely.

  • i agree man. my brother, now 26, had lasik done once at 23, another time at 24. both times it was horrible. he swore on his life, he would get back at doctor Joseph Kiernan for doing this. it is an unsafe and unreliable procedure. my brother almost put a bullet through his head one day, and although he's better now, he's still scared for his future. he is in his 3rd year at Tuft's dental school, and with eyes like his, he might not be able to work. lasik surgery is absolutely disgusting.

  • They have been doing LASIK in europe for ten years before it was improved in the US

  • LASIK is the worst known elective procedure created. Did your Lying LASIK Dr tell you that the flap never heals and that there are long - term complications. Google: FDA LASIK and see how all of the news stations are telling citizens to take a second look at LASIK, that it isn't as safe as marketed. No offense, you like myself have been duped!

  • It isn't me that is dictating to the consumer. Whether you are a student, physician, or lay person, we all have been lied to about this procedure and that is what you are failing to comprehend. The 95% success rate reported is false, and is more like 75% after 3, 5, 7, 10 years post LASIK. How do I know this? I have spent 1,000's of hours speaking with suicidal patients, have flown all over the world, and that is why LASIK is all over the news this week. Did you see the FDA on tv lately?

  • LASIK is GREAT! I had LASIK in 2004 and went from being -4.0 to having 20/10 vision in both eyes. I worked as a tech at a clinic before going to medical school. 99% of patients did great. I'm sure that the creator of this post was informed of all risks before undergoing the procedure. The consent form required the patient to copy the paragraph of risks in their own hand writing. Don't be selfish and deny everyone access to this because of your bad outcome!Lawyers are more greedy than Dr's

  • it claims to make eyesight better, when it completely ruins it in reality.

  • Bigwave2003: Have you even turned your tv on to watch Brian Williams NBC Nightly News, or Google search: LASIK FDA? Why don't you do that first and then lets chat. Google:Collin Dorrian Lasik Suicide. Ask Germaine Dupri (Janet Jackson's ex) about how he is now BLIND after having LASIK, or call Regis Philbin who just had it done and is complaining of seeing LARGE FLOATERS.Then call Kathy Griffin, actress/comedian, and ask her about her horror. Then call Tiger Wood's ex gfriend who's ruined.

  • The real truth is this: Anytime you artificially alter God's creation, you run the risk of a potential problem. Women who have gotten boob jobs have problems from time to time. Dudes that get nosejobs sometimes get a bum deal. My neighbor's botox injections went wrong. Not everything in this world is perfect like you want it to be. Sorry if your PARTICULAR experience sucked. It's not that way for 99% of the people out there who had successful, problem-free surgery. Caveat Emptor, right?

  • p.s. I was thinking about getting lasik but I think I have changed my mind. And about the suicide b.s. I would for real, on my momma life, KILL the doctor the trashed my vision!!

  • Where's your proof? Show us the EVIDENCE that MANY have committed suicide! You can't. There is none. You lie. Because you don't like Lasik you feel entitled to lie and BS other people about it. Put up or shut up. Where's your proof that MANY have committed suicide?????

  • I had Lasik surgery last year. I wish I hadn't waited so long to have it done! I am extremely happy that I had it done. It is so true that you don't feel thing! You feel a little pressure before they cut the flap, but it is not painful, and the whole operation takes seconds on each eye! It is amazing. No more headaches from glasses and no more pain of having to wear contacts!

  • I don't remember the name of the doctor or clinic that did my procedure in Bogata, Colombia. But I do know that the doctor was trained by Jose Barraquer, the inventor of Lasik and had done well over 10,000 surgeries prior to doing mine. I flew from Miami, FL with a group of other U.S. patients who paid for airfare, hotel and surgery together in a package that was cheaper than just having the surgery in the U.S. (and by a doctor that actually had experience & was on the pulse of the innovation

  • The doctor that did my surgery in Colombia did over 30 FREE procedures the morning he did my surgery. His fellow countrymen generally could not afford Lasik, so the doctor would perform the surgeries for free on an almost daily basis. He made his money from people such as our group that came from the U.S. and other countries to have the surgery. I think the Colombian dollar was much weaker than the U.S. and many other countries, which allowed the doctor to donate his services to his citizens.

  • In the U.S., the "wavefront" aka "SuperLasik" is probably the safest and provides the best results. However, I would be very careful in selecting a doctor. Personally, I would go to the "Extreme Makeover" website & look up one of their eye doctors, since they use only the best surgeons the U.S. has to offer. I would do the same for cosmetic dentistry or hair transplantation. Research those doctors and research to see if there's been any complaints or complications & ask the docs personally.

  • Come on! You don't know the name of the Doctor OR the clinic? Dude that sounds bogus.

  • Lasik is flawed, period. Creating a FLAP that never heals, is NOT safe. Trust me. Anyone that knows to "NOT MESS WITH THEIR EYES, THE MOST COMPLEX ORGAN IN THE HUMAN BODY," knows that it is NOT worth the risks. If anything, do Ortho K, because it is reversible. Google: lasik-flap (dot) com, lifeafterlasik (dot) com, laikfraud (dot) com, lasikcomplications (d0t)com...

  • Unfortunately, since the approval, there has been a mad dash by eye docs to get a piece of the Lasik market, meaning that in some cases, the almighty dollar will come before consumer safety.

  • This video is as badly thought out as it is badly done. This is like saying: Many people have committed suicide because people made fun of their glasses - or: many people have fallen off a cliff because they had their glasses were foggy. I guess there are lying doctors out there, but there are also stupid patients that want somebody to "bite the dust"

  • I hear what you are saying, but you are missing the point. The fact is that patients are NOT being told ALL of the truths. In otherwords, they are being lied to by the Lying Lasik Dr's who only care about swiping the credit card for $4k a pop. They are NOT giving TRUE INFORMED CONSENT, and even the educated doctor, lawyer, ceo patient will fall PREY. It is now an epidemic and you will hear this on the news one day. Just wait...

  • Don't even fuck with lasik surgery. That shit is dangerous. Besides glasses can look hella cool on you. For example I got a fully loaded pair of optical awesomeness in my glasses for $500. I got shatter proof, impact resistant, scratch resistant Polycarbonate lenses, Crizal Alize Anti Reflective and hydrophic coating for easier cleaning and transition coating which makes them turn into sunglasses when exposed to UV rays and a sweet Chesterfield brand Titanium frame.

  • And yeah you guys are right about scumbag surgeons and doctors these days. Lots of white collar professions that are supposed to be all about protecting us are these days being taken over by sociopaths. Robert Hare the world expert on sociopathy today known as Anti Social Personality Disorder has a book out about this called "Snakes in Suits". The kind of callous disregard, lack of conscience and remorse needed to carry out such a cruel surgical procedure is par for the course for socios.

  • Tiger Woods sold his soul to the Lasik industry!

  • This is propaganda. Sure there are dodgy docs but this is sheer fear mongering. I have just had lasik from a highly reputable surgeon and can report the side effects are not suicide inducing. What a crock! people should just seek an excellent surgeon and follow the post-operative instructions to a tee and they will be fine. Most of the complications are in the realm of 1% of the population.

  • You are what thousands would call a "new be." You just had it done. Wait 3,5,8 years and then lets have this conversation after your eyes change, your Dry Eye Syndrome and night vision change for the worse, and you will remember this text message I sent you. However, you may be in the top 5% of post lasik happy patients that may even last 10-15 years. My guess, probably not. Either way, good luck. The 1% you are talking about is more like 35%.

  • StealthyDelphi: When this hits home with you, and it eventually will, then you will start to "get it." Until then, be a little bit more open minded and don't believe everything in print or on the idiot tube. I'm not saying YouTube is perfect, I'm just saying that a secret won't be broadcasted over the regular television. You will have to search for it online. Good luck.

  • I too found out the hard way how damaging Lasik is to the eyes. If you live in NJ, steer clear of Cary Silverman of EyeCare 20/20; he'll smile his way through the whole thing and tell you that very few people ever have trouble with Lasik. I now know by personal experience that he cares-not for anyone except the allmighty dollar.
