Australia has been using Light rail transports Longer then the USA has. But the funny thing is America is a older country then us about 100 years older then Australia lol..
@GayBoyRunning you said Australia had streetcars before the US had it... New Orleans had streetcars in 1835 and the electric streetcar started in 1893 in New Orleans. Google it... Just to let you know... And yes Melbourne has the largest tram network in Australia: does Sydney have one? St Petersburg used to be the largest but many tracks were destroyed so Melbourne is number one.
@applesweeter novelty. In a book called "The Great Good Place" by Ray Oldenburg, he explains how we as a society have a natural need for informal social interaction and novelty in our daily lives. Light Rail, and rail transit in general, combines both- attracting better ridership than a bus, and generally people love it.

Seattle is stupid, fuck this shitty city, take decades to get a light rail system that amounts to nothing more than a lousy streetcar that sometimes goes in the air or underground. Fuck the Emerald City, finally, took you a millenium!
Shit, having trouble with comments, my computer is slow as molasses. No, slow as a snail. No, slow as Seattle, Washington, USA. Well, remember, don't rush. Seattle and steady wins the race!
Just to clear shit up, I'm glad Seattle voters voted for this. I'm angry they took so long to vote for this. I'm extremely pissed at those who oppose this and have constantly tried to slow down development of mass transit in Seattle on grounds that it's too expensive, unsightly, or unnecessary.
I completely agree. There are few local political things I'm actually interested in, but it's criminal that Seattle was allowed to go so long without something like this! We could have had something amazing if we had voted for that thing 40 years ago! We could have had a real rail transit system by now!
I'm at a loss as to what people are thinking opposing something like this. Isn't an 8 lane highway uglier and noisier than two tracks? 24/7 car noise vs trains every half hour should be obvious!
the problem in this city is that we keep arguing over weather we should have buses, light rail, monorail, or something else, instead of simply taking advantage of the strengths of all.
@bobbbbbable sorry that i respond to you now after a year... but yeah: it is super expensive to build a new light rail line however the agrument is the long term investments pay off the short term deficit created. Light Rails are the future and they have the potential to decrease traffic and get people to places faster without hitting traffic jams.. Look at wonderful Europe. They have an amazing light rail/streetcar system.
Is it just me or does the train look kind of old and outdated from the outside? Not that it really matters, but doesn't have that brand new look and feel to me...
they voted for more light rail to Lynnwood (via northgate), Redmond (via belleview) and Federal Way (from Seatac)
There will be another vote (that will no doubt pass) to build it to Ballard and West Seattle, and another planned vote in 2016 to further expand it to Everett and Tacoma.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love space architecture?
(2) Why do we like to travel by space-age transportation system?
(3) Will travelling be more exciting if future vehicles are floating in the air? and Why?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
