  • Hey bill I locked the advance in the distributor and thats the best way but you can do it with out but its not as easy. I ended up using a crank trigger after this video because it starts way better!

  • @garbizwal I got a Joe Hunt mag converted to Pertonix ignition. The coil is in the unit. Will weld the counterweight to lock it out. Getting closer. Am welding the exhaust pipe from the turbos now. Should have it running this summer. Bill

  • @earlyhemibill keep an eye on your rotor phase to the dist cap location I found I have 40 deg crank rotation to work with so I set it to work from ~ 8-48 deg good for lots of "vacume advance" and low advance for start up.

  • Did you have to lock out the advance in the distributor or was the computer able to overcome it? Bill

  • seems like everyone is going to EFI for the mopar muscle. Maybe thats the way to do it now a days. Looks good, cant wait till you make a test vid!

  • Not everyone lol. I did it for the 3 reasons of #1 you can tune more power out of it. #2 it will be more efficient!

and #3 It will be more consistant (ie it wont get cooler out and all the sudden I will have to rejet the carb)

  • so how hard was the whole thing

  • Well that depends on what hard meens to you I guess lol. It wasnt hard for me lot of work yes but it is for fun and a car i love so when things were difficult I still enjoyed it because I knew it would be worth it!

  • ok well what i kinda mean is like what does it require. Injectors, harness, fuel pump, ECM, TB's etc. Im tryn to pick up a 69 from a guy, just lookn at what could be done to it in the future.

  • you got most of it add a couple sensors and a fuel presure regulator and some fuel line and you are set. Just go to the Megasquirt efi pages online and they have all the info you can imagine for this stuff!

  • post a vid of you getting to test it out plzz

  • We have 6feet of snow!!

  • well someday then lol

  • Yeh hopefully this summer. Got to be carefull not to get in trouble with the law! But just got to finish up the overdrive and do a bit of tuning and its ready to go!

  • sweet can't wait to see it :)

  • Sounds like you are zeroing in the tune! I am going to have quite the challenge with E-85 and my MS-II which I am going to get pre-assembled from Matt at DYI. I'll also have a fuel comp. sensor to handle reg. unleaded. Thanks for the inspiration. Eddie

  • I am actualy doing alot of research Into hydrogen as my next fuel and this car will be the one to convert first because it will be a breeze With the megasquirt to have 2 or three tables pre programed that will control with the fuel switch!

  • Great job! It sounds wicked! I am currently building a 400/500 stroker with MS and EDIS with MPI powered by E-85. I hope my Mopar works and sounds as good as your's. Eddie

  • I have had it on the road for a little while and I will have another video soon. But part of the trick was it was way to rich so it took longer to rev then it does now so It let you here more of a simulated load/road test.

  • I'm currently building a Desoto 341 hemi with Hilborns and Megasquirt V3. I converted the injection from mechanical to electronic. Some of the language on the MS site is rather confusing to me. Is it OK if I occassionally pick your brain for advice? Thank you, Bill

  • So, did you ever get this thing on the road? Post a burnout video or somethin.. :)

  • that will be with in weeks I just got the diff back in after narowing it for bigger tires and installing a rear sway bar and a tonn of other work. Very soon.

  • What was the VR issue with the distributor? thank you, Bill

  • I used a regular type set of wires to send the signal from the vr sensor to megasquirt and they picked up interferiance from the alternator and coil and msd and made megasquirt think it was reving 18 000 rpm at cranking so It was spraying that much fuel in!

  • You did an awesome job, I grew up with a 73 cuda! And yes, I'll be pleased to be the first import to get next to you in line! We might scare each other! Megasquirt works like that.

  • Hey thanks. I should have it on the road in a couple months. If we do end up lineing up you could end up as a customer of mine lol.

  • Hows that? Do you restore the old muscle cars?

  • Only my own lol. No I have my own performance motorcycle tuning and repair buisness (Top of the Line Performance dot net) but have had some car guys get me to do tuning for them as well because I have all the equipment!

  • That's cool, i wish i could do something like that.

  • Great project, I have a couple of megasquirt projects that I will be posting. Do you have any tuning videos or driving videos?

Just goes to show you that with some cheap throttle bodies some good old fashioned ingenuity and skill, you can build a bad A*! setup like this! Keep up the good work.

  • Nice! Can you put that on a '74 Dodge Monaco 440 and get more than the stock 275 net horsepower?

  • I believe the block is a 74 the heads might be a bit different but With some of my magic porting and some other goodies we could get you ripping send me a email garbizwal at hotmail dot com or go to topofthelineperformance dot net

  • wut is the name of this song yah?

  • The song is called to end the rapture. I figured it suted after all the work and the month of 20 hour days to get it going!

  • yup,it does go along with the vid.thanks :)

  • awesome..!

  • My bosses liked it too!

Also learm how to speell~! LMAO

  • Nice! Good entry lol!

Just need more import bashing lol, cause you know you love them, owning one and all!
