For sure this version of Nighttrain is great and it´s perfect. Let´´s say that its perfect but for me its too perfect. When i normally listen to GnR theres a Rock Vibe like hell yeah this kicks ass and you fell those guys wrote the songs full loaded of booze and all that matches together. Honestly the solos of this guitarists here ruin this vibe .. it´s kind of modern shredding stuff which doesn´t fit in this mid 1980´s hard rock stuff. But just my opinion. For me there no GnR without Slash!
For me,GNR was a rock & roll band...didn't need John Petrucci there to rip solos to shreds.It was purely just to rock your head out,and Izzy,Slash & Duff fit the bill PERFECTLY.Just to rock out,not a guitar speed talent contest.For this reason alone,the original lineup wins.Nobody could recapture the old atmosphere...long live GNR circa AfD.

That being said this version of Nightrain would be very difficult to top, Axl is amazing here...he was very good most times with Nightrain in 06-07...the standout old song this tour has to be RQ...sounds amazing in 2010 on that song and really nails it.

the 3 guitarists in GNR allow them to replicate that sound live plus Chinese Democracy is a very complex, layered album. the diverse styles of the 3 guitarists offer interesting contrast on the album & live.
GNR had 2 guitarists before & have 3 now-not a mind-boggling change.

@illidanrocksu, your knowledge of GNR history is pretty shaky. it was 1985 when Tracii etc left and 1987 when AFD came out.
Axl was already the most sought out singer on the LA scene according to slash when he joined GNR only with the intention of stealing Axl for his own band, Road Crew. the Axl/ Izzy song-writing partnership was intact in the 1st GNR line-up. it was a matter of time before they got big.
facts remain- slash, duff and steven were NOT original GNR members.
Yeah, they weren't the original members, but they werethe original line-up of when they really started to make it in 86, and the first albim line-up - so the majority of people just assume they are the original gunners, as Tracii etc didnt have that huge an impact.
Axl & Izzy are the two major song-writers for GNR & both were together in the first line-up. slash has said that he joined GNR only to steal Axl for his own band Road Crew because Axl was already the most sought after singer on the LA circuit.

anyway yes, this performance has energy. If you click next enough times, you'll find my post there, a long time ago, that this is the best I've heard the new GnR sound. It's really good, but the more I listened to it, the more disappointed I became. I was expecting something at the level of Apetite, or even better. Guess it all comes down to preference between old and new GnR

the way GNR perform Nightrain now and they way they do it here in this video from 2006, is head and shoulders above what the song used to be in the old days. its so much more epic now, packs a much greater punch.

@nine9live5, GNR was going to be famous whether or not Slash, Steven & Duff joined. Axl & Izzy were the main GNR song-writers GNR & they were together in the original line-up. infact Slash said he wanted to steal Axl for his own band because Axl was already the most exciting new singer in LA.
the childish attitude of "these guys suck" is just a knee-jerk response. liking the old line-up doesnt mean that u to hate the new one. Slash & Duff quit- Axl is going on with new guys. more power to him.

@illidanrocksu, your knowledge of GNR history is pretty shaky. it was 1985 when Tracii etc left and 1987 when AFD came out.
Axl was already the most sought out singer on the LA scene according to slash when he joined GNR only with the intention of stealing Axl for his own band, Road Crew. the Axl/ Izzy song-writing partnership was intact in the 1st GNR line-up. it was a matter of time before they got big.
facts remain- slash, duff and steven were NOT original GNR members.

Yeah, they weren't the original members, but they werethe original line-up of when they really started to make it in 86, and the first albim line-up - so the majority of people just assume they are the original gunners, as Tracii etc didnt have that huge an impact.

Yes, he did want to steal axl for his own band, but once the appetite line up was finalised he knew that Guns was going to be the band that would make it.
And he only seriously started thinking about joining Megadeth because Guns wern't moving as well as he had hoped.
I'm not disputing the fact that they aren't the original members, but that there is a case they can be seen as the 'originals' as they contributed the necessary parts that gave the band its character and music.

@n0belium Tracii had a bigger impact on the bands sound than most people know. Tracii has made MANY songs to this day that sound like Appetite, Slash hasn't. He hasn't made one song after Appetite that has the same feeling, sound, or vibe.

No,its not. The shows(except Axls backing vox) are all 100% live. All three are needed because now they play them exactly like the record. All the fills and extra stuff the old couldn't do live.What about key board players? In most bands they eventually add on a keyboard making alot of them 6 pieces. So,imo,your retarded.

he still shows up late, why do you think people throw shit on stage? he showed up three hours late in australia in 07 and the crowd wasn't even into the show cause they had to wait so long. The dude goes months without even talking about any concerts or updating the website or anything like that and you guys just accept it. It's like being in an abusive relationship.
As for bucket vs slash, slash is a superior guitar player. He has more "feel" in his playing than bucket.

buckethead plays in a variety of styles including with feeling. slash went from playing with a frontman/singer/lyricist of axl's quality to much inferior guys like weiland. do you go crib on VR vidoes?

anyway yes, this performance has energy. If you click next enough times, you'll find my post there, a long time ago, that this is the best I've heard the new GnR sound. It's really good, but the more I listened to it, the more disappointed I became. I was expecting something at the level of Apetite, or even better. Guess it all comes down to preference between old and new GnR

yeah but matt did the drum fills for the use your illusion albums for all the song except for civil war and his drum fills in songs like estranged and dead horse were great. But back then the core members axl, slash and duff were still there. Now it's just axl who shows up 3 hrs late for a concert and doesn't give a shit about the fans.
