Oh man, I got a little story to tell about Rosko. You may know that he recorded with french artists at one point. But I didn't know when I found this nice, so vintage-looking little 45 with the naive colors on its sleeve. The best bargain of history, though not the rarest record on earth. I could have run with the whole crate, that dude jut wanted to get rid of it. Peacemaker, 50 eurocents.
They put this guy -- Bill (Rosko) Mercer together with Scott Muni, Alison Steele (what a voice -- The Nightbird), Zacherle (yeah that ghoul -- 92 yrs old now), Richard Neer, Pete Fornatale, Dennis Elsas, Jonathan Schwartz (before he got obssessed w/ Sinatra), Vince Scelsa & a few other select legendary FM radio jocks & you have one of the best stations WNEW-FM -- in the U.S. 1967-approx 2000. Why were they so good? It's more than 40 years later & I remember all their voices. Rosko's on top.
