In November 2007, the National Endowment for the Arts released its report on the American reading disaster, Reading at Risk, comparing it to the historic 1983 report, A Nation at Risk, which stated:
“If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre education performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves.”
Good on you for making a video about literacy, however, when your very first slide has a spelling mistake on it, don´t expect people to take your message seriously. [Freshman = singular, Freshmen = plural.]
China population = 1331 million; USA population = 307 million. Yeah, I'd assume they have a lot more honors kids than the US, at least 4 times more. How about a video about how we suck in math? Just a suggestion.
@TheMaximilionaire all this stress os math and science, but how many people ever use advanced math? Like 1 or 2%? However, EVERYONE needs to read and write and think.
I think our stress on math and science is misplaced- and we ought to be stressing history, poetry and philosophy- because stressing those disciplines would eventually, I believe, help make our society better.
Don't get me wrong- we still need math and science folks- hell, they're going to save us with solar energy.
@TheMaximilionaire Also, in a society which operates by representative government, EVERY voter should know history, and at least be somewhat familiar with political science. Nobody needs calculus or geometry to participate in our politics.
@seezarorest Retard, try reading a book some time. If you know how to read, that is. Spam-report that idiotic mumbo-jumbo, please! Let's all spam-mark and spam-report it, cause the stupidity actually hurts my brain here! : (
@winterstellar Don't worry about the amount of books i reed idiot. Spam report yourself for accusing people without giving any evidence. There IS NO PROOF OF THE LANDING! Reed about radiation in space, and how it is impossible safely to go there, then make a stupid claim about books. The fact that you looked throw some magazines doesn't make you fucking smart.Check yourself because the brain pain may be a tumor,or maybe in your case thinking hurts, that's why you don't use your brain quite often?

We put a man on the Moon... we ought to at least enable a child to reach for a book... Mike Gibbowr

Actually there is no proof about the moon landing. It was and to this day still is impossible due to space radiation.
