mad how things go full circle. i remember listening to this song once when i was about 15. (18 years ago). went back to my old man raving about it and he handed me his 'sound of bread' album. i never knew who it was that sang the reggea version that i fell in love with. then nearly 20 years later i randomly searched the name ken boothe, after hearing it in a favourite clash song, and i stumble across it. and fall in love with it all over again. happy days.

Easily the best version of a very moving song. The original, by David Gates was about his father who had died just as they got close, which makes it even more emotional when you listen to the lyrics
