It's crazy, up to now I never thought of why Rick never considered using a prostetic. And after hearing as to why he doesn't use one, I respect him even more now. He truly is an inspiration not just to amputees. But he's a a good example that shows that you can come back from any obstacle no matter how bad it was.

Man! I can't imagine what I'd do if i met Rick Allen! I'd probably run up to him and hug him and won't let go. Then I'd start crying (still hugging him) and tell him "I knew I'd meet you someday." Then, I'd sit down and talk to him for a while and tell him this is the greatest day of my life. I'd get A LOT OF pictures and videos with him and then give him my e-mail and start crying after he leaves. That's probably what I'd do if my met Rick Allen, except it would me more emotional than that.

Ive seen Def Leppard twice and if you have never seen them in person Id recommend to anyone. They sound just as good live as they do on CD. Joe can still hit the notes, phil and rick S are still amazing on guitar and the Thunder God of course just gives you goosebumps when he plays. GO SEE THEM.

Whenever I watch this, along with parts 1 & 2, it's very inspirational. I keep wondering just how it applies to someone like myself, a legally-blind guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Many people know Rick's saga. And, millions of people know about Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Feliciano and Ronnie Milsap. But, what about the struggles of one who is just legally blind enough not to drive himself to the gig or session?

It's great that Rick can make better use of his other limbs, including the ability to use his feet in the kitchen and kicking a ball with both feet. The way he can do everyday things without one arm should teach those of us who haven't lost anything to be grateful for what's there.

But, I'd still like someday to have a version of his classic hybrid drum rig.

I didn't know that Robert, Rick brother had helped him in the hospital but I knew everything else. I'm glad he's doing well now. I was a frend of his parents and brother for a while. They were really special to me. I still care alot for them. They are good people.

I remember being a Catholic schoolgirl from the country here in the States, B4 we got cable (so no MTV LOL) & B4 ANY1 had this thing called the Internet, thinking it was a myth, a rumor, gossip if U will, that Def Leppard's drummer had only 1 arm... I was like, "Are U deaf? Have U HEARD Pour Some Sugar On Me?" Years later we got MTV, I guess the joke's on me, eh? LOL It being fact still blows me away 2 this day. If U look up "Inspiration" in the dictionary, Rick's picture is right next 2 it. :-)

This is so amazing! Saw these guys for Pyromania in the midwest years ago. This band was and IS the greatest band ever and Rick is just a pure inspiration to people. Today I woke up, felt a little lazy (I HAVE two arms obviously...) and I just see how good I (we all have ) have it... Rick is just amazing in this video... Great post!

GREAT videos of Rick!!! He's a hero! I'm a drummer myself, and I lost my right arm back in '02. Thanx to Rick I kept on playing my drums! I even got a phone call from him a few months after losing my arm, and he was such a great guy to talk to!

Rick is a true inspiration to us all. I have always admired him for his lack of self pity and sheer determination to succeed. Think about this, had he been a guitar player, his career would have been over. No way to play guitar with one arm. No telling what life would have been like for him then.

I haven't seen a one armed guitar player...yet, but there's a lot of videos of a one armed bass player here on Youtube! Nothing is impossible to do if you really want to do it! :) And I think there's a NO armed guy who plays guitar with his feet...?!

You're right,anything is possible. But I can't see any record label giving a band with an armless guitar player a record deal. Playing drums one armed is quite different. I can't see any way to play a guitar with only one arm let alone with your feet. How on earth can you play all those intricate notes with your feet? My guess is it would not sound very good. Playing and sounding good are two different issues.

Oh...it sounds good! Seek for "guitar + no + arms" here at Youtube. There's a guy playing in the streets who has no arms... But there's a more famous guitar player with no arms who has a record deal. Can't remember his name though.. :( And the one armed bass player I'm talking about is Bill Clements. Amazing!!! It would be cool to see Bill Clements, Rick Allen and those guitar players with no arms in a band... :)
