Ed Whalen would probably enjoy the watered down, soccer-mom approved NHL of today where fighting is frowned upon but concussion-inducing cheap shots get only three-game bans. BTW, Whalen quit Stampede because a wild brawl between Bad News Allen and Archie "The Stomper" Gouldie was too much for him to take and he had the show taken off the air since he had the authority to do so. If Ed has his own "personal hell", he should be forced to call Combat Zone Wrestling (do a search) from purgatory.

These announcers were Ed Whalen and John Davidson...I'll admit Ed Whalen wasnt the best Play by play but I have fond memories of those days watching the the Flames on 2&7. John Davidson is one of the most knowledgeable people in hockey...HNIC and the Hot Stove dearly misses his presence...but clearly the St.Louis Blues are happy he joined them. You may not like their commentary but the two of them know more about hockey than you ever will.

Perhaps the announcers were complaining about that tough guy cheap shot artist Semenko going after a non-fighter - that is disgusting. But when Semenko fought guys like Behn Wilson or Dave Brown or Probert, he turns into a fucking pussy, and just grabs on and fag-hugs like the coward chicken shit he was.
