Hi, Shawn, I notice that during the down swing when your arms reach chest level, you right knee acutally rows in. For my downswing, my right leg do not roll in untill when my hand reach waist high and going towards impact zone. Any problem with that? How do i get my right leg to roll in automatically ? I try the perpetual motion drill, my right knee is still not rolling in instinctively. What is wrong with my swing...arggg!!please help me! Any drills please
@10ploppy Have a look at my "leg and foot work; Shawn Clement" video; it will explain more in detail; I would also recommend my dvd as there can be other things underlying that I cannot see; the dvds will take you through a terrific step by step process through prioritized fundamentals. Shawn
I really like your explanation of rotation happening at the hips in the body. It is the most mobile segment into rotation of the lower body. You are also right about the lumbar spine when you say it has 1 degree of rotation (2 would be what most anatomist/biomechanist would say). However, you are wrong about the thoracic spine. There is about 40-45 degree of rotation available in the entire Tspine. The angulation of the facet joints promotes rotation. Otherwise, good lesson
Hey Charles; thanks but I don't think this 40 degrees was made for rotation at all!; it must be used as a buffer; there are so many injuries in golf surrounding this, Paul Casey was sidelined for many events in 2009-2010 and did not make the Ryder Cup Team on points this year because of a rib injury he sustained during practice for the British Open; I know I don't even get close to 40 degrees of rotation even when I strain; I also teach this to educate X-factor victims;
The buffer you are talking about does exist in the Lspine because of the sagittal plane of the facets. However, the spine facets have a more frontal plane, therefore permitting rotation through a center of axis passing along the vertebral body of the segment. Because of the cartilaginous attachment of the ribs on the sternum, the ribs rotation as well in a anterior/posterior manner, limiting the motion after about 6-8° of rotation for each segment. Email me if you want to exchange on this subj.
Shawn, you have explained the anatomy better than my high school science teachers! Ive learned from watching your videos to set my body in a position to react to the swinging of my arm club unit. My golf improves the more you explain the anatomy of our structure. Keep putting out these vids dude! Kudos to you!
Love your videos Shawn!!! Every time I study one of your videos and practice the concepts a little bit, my golf buddies have to fork over more of their money after we play! And truth be told, that is what amateur golf is all about!! Love your style of teaching, you keep it simple and very practical. Please keep those videos coming so I can keep taking money from my buddies!
Love the video. I seem to be having some lead hip pain. What kind of swing flaws can cause this? It has started since I began posting up on my left leg. I know something is wrong here.
You don't want to post "On Top" of the left leg; you want to brace "against the left leg"; I have so many videos on this that I lost count! :) have a look at "#1 most popular teacher on yt; twirl fast" and my "golf pro lesson tilted spiral' part 1, 2 and 3 series; the one leg drill would be a good one to master as well; if you are too much on top of the left, you will loose your balance; see "#1 most popular teacher on YT; one leg feet together"; and get my DVD series would ya! :)

Hi Shawn! When we tilt or brace against our left side in the setup like you say, should our shoulders feel as if hey close a little bit?
