A local group from Philly called The Kit Kats did a very good version of this song in the mid-60s. Check on that, and also two other great songs by them- Let's Get Lost on a Country Road' and "Wont Find Better"
no one seems to have noticed that this is a later re-recording [ possibly from the 80's ] with no original members, however the band are that good the harmonies are faultless.
You hit it on the nail with that simple phrase. I love the harmonizing of their voices. It reflects the feelings I have for a female friend of mine who likes me as a friend only.Love isn't fair. Thanks for the comment.
Danny Hutton recorded this song too. I think I like his version better....No offense.... :)

This version was a fairly good size hit in Detroit/ Windsor area, played a lot on CKLW and WKNR, November 1965, a truly great year for pop music.

Springsteen did a song called 'Take em as They Come'. I will lay serious odds that this song influenced him in some way.

Great sound, we were spoilt for choice in the 60s so much good music about, I loved it all. My particular favourite band was always the Bee Gees.
